SDI claim taking over 30 days to process - what can I do?

Has anyone else been waiting forever for their SDI claim to be processed? It's been over a month now and I'm still waiting. Is this normal? I'm starting to get really frustrated with how long it's taking. Any advice on what I should do or say when I finally get through to someone on the phone?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I've been dealing with this for weeks too. It's ridiculous how long they make us wait. Have you tried calling them? I heard sometimes that can speed things up.

Here's what you need to do when you finally get someone on the phone: 1. Ask for a status update on your claim 2. Find out if there's any missing information they need from you 3. Ask about the expected timeline for processing 4. Get the name and ID of the person you're speaking with 5. Request a follow-up call or email if it's not resolved soon Be polite but firm. Remember, the person on the phone didn't cause the delay, but they can help solve it. Good luck!

Great advice! I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. It helps if you need to escalate later.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You're more likely to get through and the agents are less burnt out.

Anyone else notice how the wait times got way worse after covid? Its like they never recovered from the backlog 🤔

Yep, it's a mess. I heard they lost a bunch of staff and never replaced them. Classic government move 🙄

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up if you're really stuck.

I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find my rep?

Just google '[your city] state representative'. Most have a 'constituent services' section on their website where you can ask for help with state agencies.
