How long does SDI take to process a claim after receiving it?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out how long it typically takes for SDI to process a claim once they've received it. Anyone have experience with this? I'm getting anxious waiting and could use some insight.

Grace Durand

From my experience, it usually takes about 2 weeks (14 days) for SDI to process a claim after they receive it. But keep in mind, this can vary depending on their workload and how complete your application was.

Yeah, I've heard it can take up to 21 days sometimes. Depends on how backed up they are.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at SDI! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Trust me, after spending days trying to get through, $20 was totally worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the SDI claim process and timeline: 1. File your claim online or by mail 2. SDI receives and logs your claim (1-3 days) 3. Initial processing and review (7-10 days) 4. Additional info requested if needed (can add 5-7 days) 5. Final decision and benefit calculation (2-4 days) 6. Notification sent to you Total time: 14-21 days on average, but can be longer if there are complications or high volume of claims. Pro tip: Make sure your application is complete and all supporting docs are included to avoid delays!

Has anyone heard about the new online portal SDI is supposed to be launching? Wonder if that'll speed things up at all.

Pro tip: If you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, try reaching out to your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help expedite things!

This actually works! My rep's office got my claim unstuck after it had been sitting for over a month.

How do you even find your local rep? 🤔

Just google '[your city] state representative' and it should come up. Most have contact forms on their websites for constituent services.
