SDI Claim Filed - How Long Until I Hear Back?
Hey everyone, I just filed my SDI claim and I'm wondering how long it usually takes to hear back. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips on what to expect or how to speed things up? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for a response.

I filed mine about 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. The waiting game is killing me! 😩 Anyone know if there's a way to check the status online?

Yeah, you can check online! Go to the EDD website and log into your account. There should be a section for claim status updates.

Oh awesome, thanks! I'll give that a try. Fingers crossed there's some progress 🤞

Just a heads up, sometimes the online status isn't updated right away. I've had better luck calling them directly.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting for over a month now. It's so frustrating! Has anyone actually managed to get through to a real person on the phone? I've tried calling like 50 times and always get the busy signal. 🤬

I found a way to get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

Idk man, paying to get through seems kinda sketchy. Shouldn't this be a free service?

I get where you're coming from, but for me, the time saved was worth the cost. Plus, I got my issues resolved way faster.

In my experience, it took about 2-3 weeks to hear back. But that was before all this COVID madness, so it might be longer now. Hang in there!

Pro tip: make sure you've submitted ALL the required documents. I thought I was done, but turns out I missed one form and that delayed my claim by weeks. Double-check everything!

Oh no, now I'm paranoid I missed something. Is there a checklist somewhere of all the required docs?

Yep! Here's a link to the official checklist on the EDD website: [insert link]. Better safe than sorry!

Here's a comprehensive guide to the SDI claim process based on my recent experience and research: 1. Filing the claim: - Do it online if possible, it's faster - Have all your personal and employment info ready - Be accurate with dates and medical info 2. Required documents: - Medical certification (your doctor needs to fill this out) - Last paystub or tax return - ID verification (if requested) 3. Processing time: - Typically 14 business days, but can be longer due to backlogs - Check your online account for status updates 4. If there are delays: - Try calling early in the morning (right when they open) - Use the online contact form for non-urgent questions - Consider using a paid service to get through on the phone if desperate 5. While waiting: - Make sure your mailing address is up to date - Check your spam folder for emails - Don't submit multiple claims, it'll only slow things down Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Quick question - do you know if the medical certification has to be sent separately or can I upload it with my online application?

Good question! You can usually upload it with your online application, but make sure your doctor fills it out completely. Any missing info can cause delays.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to? The whole system needs an overhaul smh

Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming.

Totally agree. And don't even get me started on their ancient website. It's like stepping back into 1995 every time I log in.

Has anyone had their claim denied? I'm worried about that happening and not sure what I'd do if it did.

I had mine denied initially, but I appealed and got approved. Don't give up if it happens to you!

What was the appeal process like? How long did it take?

It was a bit of a hassle tbh. Had to submit additional medical evidence and wait another few weeks. But it was worth it in the end.

Just a heads up, I've heard they're extra strict about fraud lately. Make sure all your info is 100% accurate or you could face penalties.

Anyone else notice that the payment amounts seem to vary? I got less than I expected and I'm not sure why.

Yeah, it's based on your past earnings. There's a calculator on the EDD site that can help you estimate your benefit amount.
