SDI claim submitted over a week ago, 7-day waiting period passed, still no payment. What's going on?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my SDI claim. I submitted my application over a week ago, and the 7-day waiting period has passed, but I still haven't received any payment. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to worry about how I'm going to pay my bills. Any advice on what I should do next or how long I should expect to wait?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last month. It's so stressful when you're counting on that money and it doesn't come through on time. Have you tried calling them? That's what finally worked for me.

I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. How did you manage to reach someone?

It took me like 50 tries, no joke. I just kept redialing over and over. Eventually I got lucky and got through. It's a total nightmare tho 😫

Pro tip: try calling right when they open in the morning. That's when I had the best luck getting through!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in my experience, it can take up to 3 weeks for the first payment to come through after the waiting period. The system is so backed up right now. Hang in there!

3 weeks?! That's insane. How are people supposed to survive that long without income? The system is broken 😔

Yep, can confirm. Took about 2.5 weeks for me. It's ridiculous but sadly pretty common rn

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Is it legit?

I was skeptical too, but I can vouch for it. Used it twice now and got through both times. Saved me hours of frustration!

$20 seems steep just to talk to someone... but I guess if it works, it might be worth it. How long did you have to wait?

0 coins

It varied, but both times it was under an hour. Way better than spending all day trying to get through myself!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there before sending out payments. Might give you an idea of where things stand.

This is why we need serious reform in our social safety net systems. It's absurd that people have to wait so long for benefits they're entitled to. We should all be writing to our representatives about this!

100% agree. The system is totally broken. But good luck getting politicians to care about fixing it šŸ™„

I actually wrote to my rep last month about this. Got a form letter back. Fat lot of good that did šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research about SDI claims and payments: • The official 7-day waiting period doesn't include weekends or holidays, so it might be longer than you think. • After the waiting period, it can take 10-14 business days for the first payment to be processed. • Make sure all your paperwork is in order. Any missing info can cause delays. • Check your online account regularly for updates or requests for additional information. • If you haven't received anything after 3 weeks, definitely try to contact them directly. • Consider using the online SDI system to certify for benefits if you haven't already. • Keep detailed records of all your interactions with SDI, including dates you submitted forms or tried to call. Hope this helps! The waiting game sucks, but hang in there.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! This is super helpful. I'll double-check all my paperwork and keep an eye on my online account.

This should be pinned to the top of the subreddit tbh. Great info!

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government bureaucracy 🤔 where everything takes 10x longer than it should

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at the official SDI account can get a response. Worth a shot!

I've had success with this too! Their social media team seems more responsive than their phone lines sometimes.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim 10 days ago and still nothing. I called yesterday and finally got through after about 2 hours on hold - the rep told me that processing times are running longer than usual due to high volume, but that my claim looks good and should process within the next few days. She also mentioned that sometimes there can be delays if they need to verify medical information with your doctor's office. Have you gotten any notifications in your online account asking for additional documentation? That might be what's holding things up. Fingers crossed we both get our payments soon! šŸ¤ž
