EDD SDI Account Creation Error: System Can't Validate Information Despite Correct Details
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble creating an account on the EDD website for my disability claim. Every time I try to register, I keep getting an error message saying the system can't validate my information. It's telling me to check my driver's license or ID card for my full legal name, date of birth, and ID number. I've double-checked everything and it's all correct. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any tips on how to get past this? I'm starting to get really frustrated and don't know what to do next.

Pro tip: if you're having trouble with the online system, try calling right when they open in the morning. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way!

I'm in the same boat, been trying to file for weeks now. This whole system is a joke. Anyone know if there's a class action lawsuit we can join? This is ridiculous!

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're using the official EDD website. There are a lot of scam sites out there trying to steal people's info. The real site should end in ".ca.gov".

This is why the system is broken. How are people supposed to get help when they can't even create an account? π€¬ The government needs to fix this ASAP!

It might help to consider contacting the EDD through their official social media accounts or seeking assistance from a local disability advocate or legal aid service. Sometimes these professionals have contacts or can provide additional assistance in navigating these tricky systems. It's important to remain cautious and protect your personal information. While services like Claimyr can be beneficial in bypassing long wait times on calls, always verify the legitimacy and ensure it's a safe option for you. Balancing time, cost, and security is key when utilizing any third-party service.

I had this exact same problem! It turns out there was a typo in my name in their system. I had to send in a copy of my ID and wait for them to manually update it. It took forever, but it eventually worked. Hang in there!

β’How long did it take for them to update your info? I'm worried about missing my filing deadline π°

Oliver Schulz
β’It took about 3 weeks for me. But don't worry too much about the deadline - they usually backdate your claim to when you first tried to file. Just make sure you keep documentation of your attempts!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

I've been dealing with EDD for 6 months now and still haven't gotten my claim sorted. At this point, I'm considering hiring a lawyer. Anyone have experience with that?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD website is a nightmare. I had the same issue last year and it took me weeks to get it sorted out. Have you tried calling their helpline? It's a pain to get through, but sometimes talking to a real person is the only way to fix these things.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your info: Make sure every letter and number matches your ID exactly. 2. Try a different device: Sometimes the site acts up on certain devices or browsers. 3. Clear your cache and cookies: This can solve a lot of weird tech issues. 4. Use a wired internet connection if possible: A stable connection can prevent timeouts. 5. If all else fails, request a paper form: You can get one mailed to you by calling 1-800-480-3287 or through Ask EDD. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! If you keep hitting a wall, try contacting your local assembly member's office. They often have contacts at EDD who can help push things through. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Hey OP, have you checked if your name has any special characters or hyphens? My friend had issues because her name had an apostrophe and the system couldn't handle it. She had to enter it without the apostrophe to get it to work.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue! Been trying for over a week now and getting nowhere. One thing that helped me get a little further was making sure I was entering my name EXACTLY as it appears on my ID - no middle initial if it's not on the license, full middle name if it is, etc. Also, try entering your birthdate in MM/DD/YYYY format if you weren't already. Still haven't gotten through completely, but at least I'm getting different error messages now π Let me know if any of the suggestions here work for you!

β’Thanks for the tip about entering the name exactly as it appears! I hadn't thought about the middle initial thing - that might be my issue. I've been including my middle initial but now I'm wondering if my ID doesn't have it. Going to double-check that right now. It's crazy that we have to be detectives just to create an account! π΅οΈββοΈ Really appreciate you sharing what's worked (sort of) for you!

I went through this exact same nightmare about 6 months ago! What finally worked for me was discovering that there was a tiny discrepancy between how my name appeared on my driver's license versus what I was entering. Turns out my license had "Jr." at the end but I was just entering my first and last name. Once I included the "Jr." exactly as shown, it went through immediately. Also, double-check if there are any spaces before or after your entries - sometimes copy/pasting can add invisible characters. If you're still stuck after trying all the formatting suggestions, I'd recommend going to your local DMV and asking them to print out exactly how your info appears in their system. That way you'll know for sure what the EDD database is expecting. Hang in there - it's frustrating but you'll get through it! πͺ

Paolo Esposito
β’This is such helpful advice! I never would have thought about suffixes like "Jr." being the issue. It's ridiculous that the system is so picky about exact formatting but won't give you a clear error message about what's wrong. The DMV printout idea is brilliant - at least then you'd know exactly what format they're expecting. Thanks for sharing your experience and giving hope that there's light at the end of this bureaucratic tunnel! π

I had this EXACT same problem and it drove me absolutely crazy! After weeks of trying, I finally figured out what was wrong. The issue for me was that my driver's license had a slight variation in how my address was formatted compared to what I was entering. Even though I thought I was being careful, there was a difference between "Street" vs "St" and "Avenue" vs "Ave" that was causing the validation to fail. The system is incredibly picky about matching EVERY detail exactly as it appears in the DMV database. Here's what I'd suggest: 1) Get a certified copy of your driving record from the DMV - this will show you exactly how your info appears in their system, 2) Try entering your info in different formats (with/without periods, abbreviations vs full words), and 3) If you have any special characters in your name or address, try both with and without them. Also, make sure you're not accidentally hitting space before or after any fields! The whole process is unnecessarily frustrating but don't give up - once you find the right combination it'll work. Sending you patience and good vibes! π€

β’This is incredibly detailed and helpful! The address formatting issue is something I never would have considered - it's amazing how picky these systems can be about abbreviations. Your point about getting a certified copy of the driving record is genius because then you'd have the exact format the system expects. It's frustrating that we have to jump through so many hoops just to access benefits we're entitled to, but I really appreciate you taking the time to share all these specific tips. The space character issue is also a great catch - such a tiny thing that could cause huge headaches! Thanks for the encouragement too, it really helps to know others have gotten through this maze successfully. π

I feel your pain! I went through this exact same issue a few months back and it was incredibly frustrating. One thing that helped me was using incognito/private browsing mode - sometimes cached data can interfere with the validation process. Also, try accessing the site during off-peak hours (like early morning or late evening) when there's less traffic on their servers. The system sometimes times out during busy periods which can cause validation errors even when your info is correct. Another tip: if you have multiple forms of ID (driver's license vs state ID), try the information from different ones - sometimes one will work when the other doesn't due to how they're recorded in the system. Don't lose hope, you'll get through this! The system is definitely broken but persistence usually pays off. Keep us updated on what works for you! πͺ
