SDI Online E311 Error: Info Doesn't Match EDD Records. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble filing for disability insurance through EDD. I'm trying to register as a claimant on SDI Online, but I keep getting an E311 error. The system says the info I provided doesn't match their records. I've double-checked everything - my name, SSN, and birthdate. Has anyone else run into this? Any advice on how to fix it? I really need to file my claim for last month when I was out sick.

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I had the same issue last year. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes talking to a human is the only way to sort this out.

ā¢I've been trying to call for days, but the lines are always busy. It's so frustrating! š¤

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and be ready to dial. It's still a pain, but your chances are better.

ā¢Or try calling at like 4:55 PM. Sometimes they stay on a bit after closing to finish up calls.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

ā¢20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make this easier for free.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

ā¢How long did it take to get through? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

ā¢It took about 2 hours for me, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they had an agent. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day.

Have you checked if there's any discrepancy between your current address and what EDD has on file? Sometimes that can cause issues with verification.

I've been dealing with EDD issues for months now. Here's what I've learned: ⢠Double, triple check all your info. Even a small typo can cause problems. ⢠If you've changed your name recently (marriage, divorce, etc.), make sure EDD has your current legal name. ⢠Sometimes the issue is on their end. Keep trying every few days. ⢠If all else fails, you might need to go to an EDD office in person. Bring ALL your documents. ⢠Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but don't give up!

ā¢Nah, they might be onto something. It's either malice or incompetence, and I'm not sure which is worse.

Quick question - are you using a VPN? Sometimes government sites freak out if your IP doesn't match your location.

I had this exact same E311 error a few months ago! Turns out my issue was that I had an old middle initial on file with EDD from when I first got hired years ago, but I've been using my full middle name everywhere else now. The system was looking for "Sarah J. Smith" but I was entering "Sarah Jane Smith." Try checking if you have any name variations in your employment records - even something as small as using your full first name vs. a nickname can cause this error. You might need to call and have them update your records to match what you're entering online.

ā¢This is super helpful! I never would have thought about middle name variations. I do use my nickname on most things but my legal name for work stuff. I'll check what name format I used when I first got hired. Thanks for sharing your experience - gives me hope this can actually get resolved! š

ā¢@Payton Black This is brilliant advice! I just checked my old hiring paperwork and you re'absolutely right - I used Amara "E. Eze when" I first got hired but I ve'been trying to register with Amara "Ezinne Eze my" (full middle name .)No wonder the system can t'match me! Going to try again with just the middle initial. You might have just saved me hours of phone calls. Thank you so much! š

ā¢This is such a great catch! I've been struggling with government systems before and it's always these tiny details that trip you up. It's frustrating that the system can't be smart enough to match obvious variations, but at least now we know what to look for. Definitely going to remember this tip for future reference. Hope this solves the issue for everyone dealing with the E311 error!

ā¢This is exactly the kind of insight this community needs! I'm bookmarking this thread because I bet the name variation issue affects way more people than we realize. It's crazy how something so small can cause such a big headache. @Payton Black you should seriously consider making this into its own post - could help a lot of people avoid this frustration!

ā¢This name variation thing is so real! I work in HR and see this all the time - people get hired with one version of their name and then use a different version later. EDD's system is probably just doing an exact string match instead of being smart about it. @Payton Black your solution should definitely be in some kind of FAQ somewhere. I wonder if this applies to other government systems too - might be worth checking if you have issues with unemployment, DMV, etc.

Just wanted to add another possible cause for E311 errors - check if you have any recent address changes that might not be updated in EDD's system yet. I had this issue when I moved apartments but forgot to update my address with my employer's HR department. Even though I updated it with the post office and other places, EDD was still pulling my old address from my employer's records. Had to get HR to submit an updated form, then wait a few weeks for it to process in EDD's system. Worth checking if you've moved recently!

ā¢Oh wow, this is another really good point! I actually did move about 6 months ago and I'm not 100% sure if I updated everything with HR. I definitely updated my address with the IRS and other places, but you're right that EDD probably gets info directly from employers. I'll need to check with my HR department tomorrow to make sure they have my current address on file. Thanks for mentioning this - it's so easy to forget about updating address info with your employer when you're focused on all the other places you need to update it!
