SDI California: How to fix Error E313 when filling out claimant form?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my SDI claim in California. I keep getting this error E313 when I try to fill out the form as a claimant. Has anyone else run into this? I really need to get this fixed ASAP so I can submit my claim. Any advice would be super helpful!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I had the same issue last month. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? That worked for me after I spent hours banging my head against the wall πŸ˜…

E313 is usually related to a session timeout or data validation error. Make sure you're filling out all required fields and try submitting the form in smaller sections if possible. Also, don't leave the page idle for too long!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Have you tried using a different browser? Sometimes the EDD website acts up with certain browsers. I had better luck using Firefox instead of Chrome.

I haven't thought of that! I'll give Firefox a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

PSA: Make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off when filling out the SDI form. I spent days trying to figure out why I kept getting errors, and it turned out my pop-up blocker was preventing some parts of the form from loading properly. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Hey OP, I work in IT and deal with these kinds of issues often. Here's a detailed breakdown of what might be causing the E313 error and some steps you can take to resolve it: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies 2. Use an incognito/private browsing window 3. Try a different browser (Firefox or Edge if you're using Chrome) 4. Disable any browser extensions or add-ons 5. Check your internet connection - unstable connections can cause form submission errors 6. Make sure all required fields are filled out correctly 7. Don't leave the page idle for too long - the session might time out 8. If possible, try accessing the form during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) 9. Ensure your browser and operating system are up to date 10. If all else fails, try using a different device (like a tablet or another computer) If none of these work, you might need to contact EDD directly. Good luck!

anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? πŸ€” like they make it so frustrating on purpose

I had this exact same error last week! What finally worked for me was logging out completely, clearing all my browser data (cache, cookies, everything), then waiting about 30 minutes before logging back in. I think the EDD system sometimes gets confused with session data. Also make sure you're not using any VPN or proxy - that can trigger security errors. Hope this helps and you get it sorted soon! 🀞

This is really helpful! I'm dealing with the same E313 error right now and getting so frustrated. The waiting 30 minutes part is interesting - I've been trying to resubmit immediately after clearing my cache. Going to try your approach and see if that does the trick. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!

I ran into the exact same E313 error a few weeks ago and it was driving me crazy! What ended up working for me was a combination of things - first I tried using Microsoft Edge instead of Chrome (sometimes the EDD site just doesn't play nice with certain browsers), and I also made sure to fill out the form during off-peak hours like around 6 AM when there's less traffic on their servers. The key thing that seemed to make the difference was saving my progress frequently instead of trying to complete the entire form in one go. The EDD system seems to have issues with longer sessions. Also double-check that your address format matches exactly what they have on file - even small differences can trigger validation errors. Hope this helps and you get it resolved soon!

Thanks for the detailed advice! The saving progress frequently tip is really smart - I never thought about that but it makes total sense that their system might timeout on longer sessions. I'm definitely going to try the early morning approach too since I've been attempting this during peak hours. Really appreciate you sharing what worked for you!

I've been dealing with E313 errors on and off for months now, and what I've learned is that it's usually a combination of session/browser issues. Here's what's worked consistently for me: Use incognito mode, turn off all browser extensions, and most importantly - don't use autofill for any of the form fields. Type everything manually. The EDD system seems to have issues with autofilled data. Also, if you get the error, don't immediately try again - wait at least 15-20 minutes before your next attempt. Their system seems to flag rapid retry attempts. One last thing - make sure your computer's date and time are set correctly, as I've seen that cause validation issues too. Hope this helps!

This is incredibly helpful advice! The autofill tip especially - I never would have thought that could cause issues but it makes sense that their system might not handle pre-filled data well. I've definitely been guilty of trying to resubmit immediately after getting the error, so I'll make sure to wait those 15-20 minutes between attempts. Going to try the incognito mode approach with manual typing and see if that finally gets me through. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I just went through this exact same nightmare with the E313 error about 2 weeks ago! After trying literally everything mentioned here (different browsers, clearing cache, etc.), what finally worked for me was a really weird combination: I had to disable my antivirus software's "safe browsing" feature temporarily while filling out the form. Apparently some security software can interfere with the EDD website's validation process. Also, make sure you're not copying and pasting ANYTHING into the form fields - even your own previously saved information. The system seems to detect paste operations and throws errors. Type everything fresh, save frequently, and good luck! You'll get through this! πŸ™

Wow, the antivirus interference angle is something I never would have considered! That's such a specific but totally logical issue. I've been having the same E313 problem and I do have pretty aggressive security software running. Going to try temporarily disabling the safe browsing feature like you suggested. The no copy/paste rule is also really good to know - I've definitely been copying info from my notes. Thanks for sharing these unconventional solutions that actually worked for you! 🀞

Just wanted to add my experience - I was getting E313 errors for days and what finally solved it was making sure JavaScript was fully enabled in my browser settings. I know it sounds basic, but apparently some privacy extensions or strict browser security settings can partially block JavaScript which the EDD form needs to function properly. Also, try logging into the EDD portal from the main California.gov website instead of going directly to the EDD URL - sometimes that helps with authentication issues that can trigger the E313 error. Worth a shot if you've tried everything else!

Great point about JavaScript! I've been struggling with this same E313 error and I do have some pretty strict privacy settings enabled. Going to check my JavaScript settings and also try accessing through the main California.gov site like you mentioned. It's amazing how many different technical issues can cause the same error code. Thanks for adding another potential solution to try!

I've been lurking here for a while dealing with my own EDD issues, but this E313 error discussion finally made me create an account to share what worked for me! After trying most of the suggestions here (different browsers, clearing cache, etc.), I discovered that my issue was actually related to having multiple tabs open with EDD-related sites. Apparently their system can get confused if you have the main EDD portal, SDI pages, and other CA.gov sites open simultaneously - it creates some kind of session conflict. Once I closed everything except the single SDI form tab, the error disappeared completely. Also, I noticed that using my phone's hotspot instead of my home WiFi helped - I think some ISPs might have routing issues with certain government sites. Hope this helps someone else avoid the hours of frustration I went through! 🀞

Welcome to the community! That's such a valuable tip about not having multiple EDD tabs open - I never would have thought about session conflicts but it makes total sense. I've been dealing with the same E313 error and I'm definitely guilty of having like 5 different EDD pages open while trying to navigate their confusing website. The mobile hotspot suggestion is interesting too - network routing issues with government sites would explain a lot of the weird problems people have been reporting. Thanks for taking the time to share what worked for you, even though you had to create an account just to help us out! πŸ™

I just successfully got past the E313 error yesterday after being stuck on it for over a week! What finally worked for me was a combination of several things mentioned here: I used Firefox in incognito mode, disabled all extensions, made sure JavaScript was enabled, and most importantly - I accessed the SDI form through the main CA.gov portal instead of bookmarking the direct EDD link. I also followed the advice about typing everything manually (no autofill or copy/paste) and saved my progress after each section. The key seemed to be doing it during off-peak hours around 7 AM and making sure I only had that single tab open. It's frustrating that we have to jump through so many hoops, but don't give up! The combination of these tips from everyone here really does work. Sending good luck to everyone still dealing with this! πŸ’ͺ

Congratulations on finally getting through! πŸŽ‰ This is such a comprehensive summary of all the working solutions - I'm going to bookmark this comment and try your exact combination. The 7 AM timing tip is really smart, and I love that you confirmed the single tab approach works too. It's ridiculous that we need a whole strategy guide just to fill out a government form, but I really appreciate you sharing your success story. Gives me hope that I'll get past this E313 nightmare soon! Thanks for the motivation!

I'm dealing with the exact same E313 error right now and this thread is a goldmine! I've been banging my head against this for 3 days straight. Going to try the combination approach that seems to be working for people - Firefox incognito, no extensions, manual typing only, single tab, and early morning timing. The session conflict theory with multiple tabs makes so much sense - I definitely have been guilty of having the entire EDD website open in different tabs trying to figure this out. Really appreciate everyone sharing what actually worked instead of just the generic "clear your cache" advice. Will report back if I get through! 🀞

Good luck with the combination approach! I went through the exact same frustration last month and what you're describing sounds like the winning formula based on everyone's experiences here. The multiple tabs theory really clicked for me too - I was definitely doing that wrong. One small thing to add that helped me: I also made sure to log out completely from any other California government sites (like DMV or tax board) before starting the SDI form, just in case there were any cross-site session issues. Really hope this works for you - keep us posted! We're all rooting for each other here πŸ’ͺ

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who recently went through this exact same E313 nightmare! I was stuck on this error for almost two weeks and was ready to give up. What finally worked for me was a combination of advice from this thread: I used Edge browser (hadn't tried that one yet), cleared everything including stored passwords, and made sure to do it super early in the morning around 6:30 AM when their servers aren't overloaded. The biggest game-changer for me was realizing I had been rushing through the form - when I slowed down and waited a few seconds between each field before moving to the next one, it seemed to help the system keep up. Also echoing what others said about the single tab rule - I closed literally everything else including other government sites. It's absolutely ridiculous that we need a PhD in troubleshooting just to file a disability claim, but don't lose hope! The solutions in this thread really do work if you find the right combination for your specific setup. Hang in there! πŸ™

This is such great advice about slowing down between fields! I've been rushing through the form trying to get it done quickly, but you're totally right that the system probably needs time to process each entry. The Edge browser suggestion is also helpful - I've been stuck on Chrome this whole time. Your comment about needing a "PhD in troubleshooting" made me laugh because it's so true! It's wild that something as basic as filing for disability benefits requires this level of technical expertise. Thanks for sharing your success story and keeping everyone motivated. Going to try the slow-and-steady approach with Edge tomorrow morning! 🀞

Just went through this E313 error saga myself and finally got my SDI claim submitted! After reading through all these amazing tips, I wanted to add one more thing that might help - I noticed the error was more likely to happen when I was connected to public WiFi (like at a coffee shop or library). When I switched to my home internet connection, the form worked much better. I think it might be related to the security protocols on public networks interfering with the EDD site's validation. Also, for anyone still struggling, I found it helpful to have all my information written down on paper first so I wasn't switching between windows or apps to look things up while filling out the form. The EDD system really seems to hate any kind of multitasking! Hope this helps someone else avoid the frustration - this community has been a lifesaver for figuring out these government website quirks! πŸ™Œ

This is such a helpful addition about the WiFi connection! I've been trying to fill out my SDI form from various locations and never thought about how public networks might interfere with the validation process. That makes total sense given how sensitive government sites are about security. The tip about having everything written down on paper beforehand is brilliant too - I've definitely been guilty of switching between tabs to look up information, which probably triggers those session conflicts everyone's been talking about. Thanks for sharing another piece of the puzzle! It's amazing how this community has basically reverse-engineered all the quirks of the EDD system. Going to make sure I'm on my home network for my next attempt! πŸ πŸ’»

I've been following this thread for a while and just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who shared their solutions! I was stuck on the E313 error for almost a month and was about to give up completely. After reading through all these responses, I tried the combination approach: Firefox in private mode, 6 AM timing, single tab only, manual typing (no autofill), and waiting between fields. It finally worked this morning! πŸŽ‰ One small thing I'll add that I noticed - make sure your computer isn't running any automatic updates or background processes while you're filling out the form. I think my antivirus was doing a scheduled scan the first few times I tried, which might have been interfering with the connection. Also, I kept a glass of water next to me to remind myself to take breaks and not rush through it (sounds silly but it helped me stay calm and methodical). For anyone still struggling - don't give up! This thread proves the EDD system is definitely fixable, it's just a matter of finding the right combination of workarounds. We shouldn't have to be tech experts to file for disability, but at least we have each other to figure it out! Sending good vibes to everyone still fighting this battle! πŸ’ͺ✨

Congratulations on finally getting through! πŸŽ‰ This whole thread has been like a masterclass in dealing with government website nightmares. I'm currently stuck on the same E313 error and your success story gives me so much hope! The tip about keeping background processes and antivirus scans from running is really smart - I never would have thought about that but it makes perfect sense. I love the glass of water trick too, that's actually genius for staying patient and methodical instead of getting frustrated and rushing. Going to try your exact approach tomorrow morning with the Firefox private mode combo. Thank you for taking the time to share your victory and encourage the rest of us still fighting this!
