EDD UI Online Registration error 'information doesn't match our records' - tried everything!
Has anyone else been stuck in UI Online registration hell? I've been trying to register for 3 days now and keep getting the error message saying 'your information doesn't match our records.' I double-checked EVERYTHING multiple times - my SSN, EDD Customer Account Number, birthdate, name spelling, etc. All matches exactly what's on my claim paperwork! I even tried using different browsers and clearing cookies. I lost my job in hospitality last month after 5 years and really need to get this certification process started. Called EDD about 30 times already but can't get through. This is so frustrating! Any suggestions on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

yeah this happened to me last month...so annoying!!! the problem was actually how i entered my birthday. i was doing mm/dd/yyyy but apparently their system wanted mm-dd-yyyy or something stupid like that. try different formats for the date fields, that fixed it for me eventually

•Thanks for the suggestion! Just tried with MM-DD-YYYY format and also MM/DD/YYYY without the leading zeros (like 3/15 instead of 03/15) but still getting the same error. This is driving me crazy!

I had this exact issue when registering. In my case, there were two problems: 1. The name needs to EXACTLY match what's on your claim documents, including middle names/initials and any suffixes. If your name is "Robert James Smith" on your claim but you enter "Rob Smith" or "Robert Smith" it will error out. 2. Make sure your EDD Customer Account Number is entered correctly - it's that 10-digit number on your claim paperwork. Some people confuse it with their SSN or claim ID. Also, there's a known glitch where if you've had a previous UI claim more than 18 months ago, the system sometimes has trouble linking your new registration. In that case, you'll need to speak with a representative to reset your registration status.

•I'm certain my name matches exactly - I literally have my claim paperwork right in front of me and I'm copying it character for character. And I'm sure the EDD Customer Account Number is correct too. I've never filed for unemployment before, so it's not the previous claim issue either. I'm completely stumped!

•Yes, it's been 3 days of trying. I've waited overnight between attempts hoping something would update in their system. Still nothing! 😩

This is a common problem with the UI Online registration system. I work in HR and have helped several employees with this. Here are some things to check: 1. Your mailing address on the registration form must EXACTLY match what's in the EDD system (from your initial claim application) 2. If you have a hyphenated last name, make sure the hyphen is entered correctly 3. Make sure you're not using autofill on your browser - it sometimes adds unexpected spaces 4. Try entering your SSN without the dashes 5. Verify your phone number matches what you provided when you first applied If none of these work, your only option is to speak with an EDD representative who can check your records in real time and tell you exactly what's mismatched. The registration system is very unforgiving of even the slightest discrepancy.

•Thank you for these suggestions. I've tried all of these variations and still getting the error. My name is simple (no hyphens), I've tried with and without dashes in the SSN, and I've manually typed everything to avoid autofill issues. I think you're right that I need to speak to an actual person at EDD to resolve this.

•Wow, that's crazy! I wouldn't have thought to check if THEY had my info wrong. I assumed since they sent me the paperwork, their info must be correct. That makes me feel a bit better knowing it might not be something I'm doing wrong.

I struggled with this exact same registration error for over a week and almost gave up. I finally got through to EDD using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they got me connected to an EDD rep in about 25 minutes after I'd been trying to call for days with no luck. The rep told me that my middle initial was in their system, but I wasn't entering it in the registration form. Once I added it, I was able to register successfully. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - definitely worth it to get this resolved instead of continuing to guess what's wrong.

•Thank you for suggesting this! I've literally been trying to call for 3 days straight with no luck. At this point I'll try anything to get this fixed. I'll check out that service.

anyone know if u can just go to the edd office in person to fix this?? seems easier than dealing with phone calls that never go through

•Most EDD offices require appointments now, and they book out weeks in advance. Phone is actually faster if you can get through. Your best bet is to call right when they open at 8am, but even then it's tough.

UPDATE: Finally got this fixed! I was able to connect with an EDD rep (used the Claimyr service others mentioned here, which actually worked great). Turns out the EDD had my mailing address wrong - they had entered my apartment number as part of the street address line instead of in the apt/unit field! The rep fixed it in their system and I was able to register right away. What a relief! For anyone else having this issue - definitely triple check ALL your info including address format, and if you're still stuck, you probably need to speak with a rep to find the mismatch.

So glad you got it figured out! This is such a perfect example of how the EDD system can be incredibly picky about data formatting. I've seen similar issues where people get stuck because their apartment number was entered as "Apt 5B" in one system but "5B" in another, or their street name has "Street" vs "St." It's frustrating that these tiny discrepancies can block someone from accessing benefits they're entitled to. Thanks for sharing the solution - I'm sure this will help others who run into the same problem!

•This is exactly why I always tell people to have their original application paperwork handy when trying to register! The EDD system is so finicky about matching data exactly as it was originally entered. I went through something similar last year - turned out they had my last name with a space before it in their system somehow. It's crazy how these little technical glitches can cause such major headaches when you're already stressed about being unemployed. Really glad the Claimyr service worked out for you @57258824db9c - definitely bookmarking that for future reference!

Just wanted to add my experience here - I had the EXACT same error message for days and it turned out to be something really subtle. In my case, when I originally applied for benefits, I had entered my middle name fully spelled out (like "Michael David Smith"), but when registering online I was only putting my middle initial ("Michael D. Smith"). The system couldn't match the records because of that difference. It's so frustrating that they don't give you more specific error messages about what exactly doesn't match! For anyone still struggling with this, make sure you check not just the obvious things like SSN and birthday, but also how you entered your full name originally - middle names, initials, even things like "Jr." or "III" need to be exactly the same. The registration system has zero tolerance for any variations.

•This is such a helpful detail! I never would have thought about the middle name vs initial difference causing problems. It really shows how precise you have to be with these government systems. I'm dealing with a similar registration issue right now (different error though) and this thread has been a lifesaver for troubleshooting ideas. It's ridiculous that we have to become detectives just to access our own benefits, but at least the community here shares these specific solutions. Thanks for adding another potential cause to check!

This whole thread is so helpful! I'm actually going through the exact same issue right now - been trying to register for 2 days with the same "information doesn't match" error. Reading through everyone's experiences, it's clear that EDD's system is incredibly picky about data formatting. I'm going to go through my paperwork again and check every single detail - address format, middle name vs initial, phone number, etc. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely try the Claimyr service that several people mentioned. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to access benefits we're entitled to, especially when we're already stressed about being unemployed. Thanks everyone for sharing your specific solutions - this gives me hope that there's actually a fix rather than just being stuck in registration limbo forever!

•I'm going through the same nightmare right now! Been stuck on this error for almost a week and it's so stressful when you're already dealing with job loss. This thread has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea there were so many tiny formatting issues that could cause this problem. I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service if manually checking everything doesn't work. It's frustrating that EDD makes this process so difficult when people are already in a tough spot financially. Really appreciate everyone sharing their specific fixes here - gives me hope I can get this resolved soon!

I'm dealing with this exact same error right now and this thread has been a lifesaver! After reading through everyone's experiences, I realized I might have made the same mistake as @0dde9912fb4c - when I originally applied, I think I used my full middle name but I've been entering just my middle initial when trying to register. Going to dig out my original application paperwork and double-check every single field to make sure the formatting matches exactly. It's crazy that such tiny differences can cause this much trouble, but at least now I know what to look for. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely try the Claimyr service that helped @57258824db9c and others. Thanks everyone for sharing your specific solutions - this gives me actual hope instead of just randomly guessing what might be wrong!

•This thread has been such a game changer for me too! I'm currently stuck in the same registration nightmare and was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with my application. Reading everyone's specific solutions gives me so much hope - I never would have thought to check things like middle name formatting or apartment number placement in address fields. @57258824db9c your update about the apartment number being in the wrong field is exactly the kind of detail that could be my issue too. Going to pull out all my paperwork tonight and go through it line by line. If manual checking doesn't work, definitely trying Claimyr next. Thanks to everyone for sharing these detailed fixes instead of just generic advice!

I'm currently stuck in this exact same registration nightmare! Been trying for 4 days now with the same "information doesn't match our records" error and it's driving me absolutely crazy. Reading through this thread has been incredibly helpful though - I had no idea there were so many specific formatting issues that could cause this problem. I'm going to go back through my original claim paperwork tonight and check every single detail: full name vs initials, address formatting, phone number format, even spacing issues. It's honestly insane that EDD's system is this picky about data entry when people are already stressed about losing their jobs. If manually double-checking everything doesn't work, I'm definitely going to try the Claimyr service that helped so many people here get through to a rep. Thanks everyone for sharing your specific solutions instead of just saying "call EDD" - this gives me actual actionable steps to try!

•I'm in the exact same boat right now! Just started trying to register yesterday and already getting that same dreaded error message. This whole thread is honestly a goldmine of troubleshooting tips - I never realized how many tiny formatting differences could cause this issue. Really appreciate everyone sharing their specific fixes rather than just generic advice. I'm going to methodically go through each suggestion: checking middle name vs initial formatting, address field placement, phone number format, etc. It's ridiculous that we have to become data entry forensics experts just to access our own benefits, especially when we're already dealing with job loss stress. But at least now I have a game plan instead of just randomly trying different combinations. If the manual checking doesn't work, Claimyr seems like the way to go based on all the success stories here. Fingers crossed we can all get this sorted out soon!

Ugh, I'm going through this EXACT same issue right now! Been stuck for 5 days with that stupid "information doesn't match our records" error and I was starting to lose my mind. This thread is literally saving my sanity right now - I had no idea there were so many specific little formatting quirks that could cause this problem. I've been doing the obvious stuff like checking my SSN and birthday, but reading through everyone's experiences here has opened my eyes to all these subtle things I never considered: middle name vs initial, apartment number placement in address fields, phone number formatting, even extra spaces from autofill. It's absolutely insane that EDD's system is THIS picky about data entry when we're already stressed about being unemployed! I'm definitely going to dig out my original claim paperwork tonight and go through every single field with a fine-tooth comb. And if that doesn't work, I'm 100% trying Claimyr based on all the success stories here. Thanks everyone for sharing these detailed, specific solutions instead of just saying "call EDD" - this actually gives me hope that there's a real fix instead of being stuck in registration purgatory forever!

•I feel your pain! I'm dealing with this registration nightmare too and this thread has been such a lifesaver. It's crazy how many people are going through the exact same issue - makes you wonder why EDD hasn't fixed their system to give better error messages or be more forgiving with formatting. I'm definitely going to try all the suggestions here systematically. One thing I noticed from reading everyone's stories is that it seems like the original claim application process might not validate data properly, so errors get locked into their system and then cause problems during registration. It's such a broken process but at least we have this community to help figure out workarounds!

I'm currently experiencing this exact same registration error and this entire thread has been incredibly helpful! I've been stuck for 3 days now with the "information doesn't match our records" message and was starting to think I was going crazy. Reading through everyone's specific solutions has given me so many new things to check that I never would have thought of - the middle name vs initial issue, apartment number placement, address formatting, even spacing problems from browser autofill. It's absolutely ridiculous that EDD's system is this unforgiving about tiny formatting differences, especially when people are already dealing with the stress of unemployment. I'm going to systematically go through my original claim paperwork tonight and verify every single field matches exactly. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely try the Claimyr service that so many people have had success with. Thanks to everyone for sharing these detailed troubleshooting steps - it gives me actual hope instead of just endlessly guessing what might be wrong!

•I'm so glad this thread exists! I just started dealing with this same registration error today and was already feeling overwhelmed. Reading through everyone's experiences has been both reassuring (knowing I'm not alone) and super informative. The level of detail people have shared about specific formatting issues is amazing - like @57258824db9c discovering it was the apartment number field placement, or @0dde9912fb4c finding out it was middle name vs initial. It really shows how broken EDD's system is that such tiny differences can completely block access to benefits. I'm going to print out this whole thread as a checklist and go through each potential issue methodically. The Claimyr service sounds like a great backup plan if the manual troubleshooting doesn't work. Thanks everyone for turning this frustrating experience into a helpful resource!

I'm dealing with this exact same registration error right now and honestly this thread is like finding gold! Been banging my head against the wall for 2 days with that "information doesn't match our records" message. Reading everyone's specific solutions has been so eye-opening - I never would have thought to check things like how my apartment number was entered in different fields or whether I used my full middle name vs just the initial. It's absolutely mind-blowing that EDD's system is THIS sensitive to formatting differences when people are already stressed about losing their jobs. I'm definitely going to pull out my original claim paperwork tonight and go through every field character by character. The fact that @57258824db9c's issue was just the apartment number being in the wrong address field shows how ridiculously picky their system is. If my manual checking doesn't work, Claimyr is definitely my next step based on all the success stories here. Thank you everyone for sharing these detailed fixes instead of just generic "call EDD" advice - this actually gives me hope I can get unstuck!

•I'm going through the exact same nightmare right now! Just hit day 3 of getting that stupid error message and I was honestly starting to wonder if there was something wrong with my claim entirely. This thread has been such a lifesaver - I had no idea there were so many tiny formatting issues that could cause this problem. The apartment number thing that @57258824db9c mentioned really caught my attention because I live in an apartment too and now I'm wondering if that's my issue. It's so frustrating that EDD's system can't just tell us WHAT specifically doesn't match instead of this generic error message. Like, how hard would it be to say "phone number format doesn't match" or "address field mismatch"? We're already stressed about being unemployed and then they make accessing benefits feel impossible. I'm definitely going to try the systematic approach everyone's talking about - going through each field one by one. And if that fails, Claimyr seems like the way to go. Thanks for keeping this thread going, it's helping so many people!

Wow, this thread is exactly what I needed to find today! I'm on day 2 of getting that same "information doesn't match our records" error and I was starting to panic that something was seriously wrong with my claim. Reading through everyone's specific solutions has been incredibly reassuring - especially seeing that @57258824db9c got it resolved and it was just a formatting issue with the apartment number placement. I never would have thought to check something that detailed! I'm definitely going to go through my original paperwork tonight and verify every single field matches exactly - full name vs initials, address formatting, phone number format, all of it. It's honestly crazy that EDD's system is this unforgiving about tiny differences when we're already dealing with the stress of job loss. But this community sharing these specific troubleshooting steps gives me real hope instead of just feeling stuck. •I'm so relieved to find this thread! Just started having this exact same registration error yesterday and was already feeling overwhelmed. Seeing that @57258824db9c and so many others got it resolved gives me hope that this isn't an unfixable problem. The apartment number formatting issue is particularly interesting - I also live in an apartment and I'm wondering if that could be my problem too. It's incredible how many different tiny formatting issues can cause this error. I'm going to create a checklist from all the solutions mentioned here: middle name vs initial, apartment number field placement, phone number format, address spacing, SSN with/without dashes. It's frustrating that we have to become data entry detectives just to access our own benefits, but at least this community has figured out the common causes. If my systematic checking doesn't work, Claimyr is definitely my backup plan. Thanks everyone for sharing these specific fixes!

This thread has been incredibly helpful for so many people! As someone who works in tech support, I can add that these EDD registration matching issues are unfortunately very common with government systems that use strict data validation. A few additional tips that might help others: 1. Try using all UPPERCASE letters for your name fields - some older systems are case-sensitive 2. If you have any special characters in your name (apostrophes, hyphens, accents), try entering them exactly as they appear on your Social Security card 3. For addresses, avoid abbreviations - spell out "Street" instead of "St.", "Avenue" instead of "Ave." 4. Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces in any field The root problem is that EDD's registration system likely uses exact string matching against their database records, so even a single character difference will cause a failure. Modern systems should be more forgiving, but government databases often use legacy technology. It's frustrating that they don't provide more specific error messages, but at least this community has documented most of the common causes and solutions!

•This is such valuable technical insight! As someone who's been struggling with this error for days, it's really helpful to understand WHY the system is so picky - the exact string matching explains everything. I never would have thought about case sensitivity or leading/trailing spaces. The tip about spelling out street names fully is particularly interesting since I've been using "St." instead of "Street" on my registration attempts. I'm definitely going to try the uppercase approach and double-check for any hidden spaces when I go through my paperwork tonight. It's frustrating that we need these workarounds, but at least now I understand the technical reasons behind the problem. Thanks for sharing your expertise - this kind of behind-the-scenes knowledge really helps make sense of what seemed like random system failures!

I'm going through this exact same registration nightmare right now! Been stuck for 6 days with that "information doesn't match our records" error and I was honestly starting to think my claim was completely broken. This thread has been such a lifesaver though - the level of detail everyone has shared about specific formatting issues is incredible. Reading @Cole Roush's technical explanation about exact string matching really helped me understand why the system is so unforgiving. I never would have thought about case sensitivity or leading spaces causing problems. And @57258824db9c's apartment number solution has me wondering if that's my issue too since I also live in an apartment complex. I'm going to try the systematic approach tonight: check case sensitivity (maybe try all caps), verify no extra spaces, spell out "Street" instead of "St.", and go through every field character by character against my original paperwork. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to become forensic data analysts just to access our own benefits when we're already stressed about unemployment, but this community has turned a nightmare into an actionable troubleshooting guide.
