UI Online registration failing with EDD Customer Account Number - info doesn't match error
Ughh I'm so frustrated right now!! I just got my letter in the mail with my EDDCAN number to register for UI Online. I've been trying for the past 2 hours to set up my account but keep getting the stupid 'information does not match our records' error message. I triple-checked everything - birthdate, SSN, EDDCAN - all exactly as it appears on the letter. I even tried typing the EDDCAN with and without dashes. Nothing works! Has anyone else dealt with this registration nightmare? Did you eventually get it fixed or do I have to call them (which seems impossible these days)?

I had the exact same problem last month! The system kept rejecting my information no matter how carefully I entered it. After wasting two days trying different combinations, I finally used Claimyr to get through to an EDD rep. They have this service that calls EDD for you and gets you in the callback queue so you don't have to keep redialing. The rep told me there was a typo in my name in their system (they had misspelled my last name). Check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and website claimyr.com - honestly saved me so much frustration.

•Thank you! Did you have to pay for that service? I'll check out the link but I'm wondering if it's worth it or if there's another way to fix this. Did they fix your account right away once you got through?

This happens CONSTANTLY with EDD's system!! Their database is a DISASTER and doesn't sync properly between different parts of their system. The letter they sent probably has correct info but their UI Online database has different information. Classic EDD incompetence!!! I would bet money there's a mismatch with how your name is entered (middle initial issues, hyphenated names, etc) or maybe your birthdate format.

This is a common UI Online registration issue that usually stems from data mismatches between systems. Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help: 1. Wait 48 hours after receiving your letter before trying to register (sometimes there's a delay in database updates) 2. Make sure you're using the exact name format on your Social Security card 3. Try entering your date of birth in different formats (MM/DD/YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY) 4. Check if you have any special characters in your name that might be causing issues 5. If you recently moved, make sure you're using the address they have on file If none of those work, unfortunately you'll need to contact EDD directly to have them verify your information. Be prepared to verify your identity when you call.

•Thank you for these tips! I'll try waiting a day or two and then try the different formats. My last name does have an apostrophe, so maybe that's causing issues. Really hope I don't have to call but I might not have a choice.

If you recently filed your claim, it sometimes takes 3-5 business days for all their systems to fully sync up. The letter often arrives before their database is fully updated. I'd recommend trying again tomorrow morning. The UI Online system tends to be more responsive and up-to-date during early morning hours (7-9am). Also, clear your browser cache or try a different browser entirely - sometimes that resolves strange technical glitches.

•LMAO at "try a different browser" - classic tech support answer for a BROKEN SYSTEM. Their databases don't talk to each other properly and haven't for YEARS. EDD is stuck in 1995 technology!!

•I've checked my SSN about a million times, but thanks for the suggestion. I'm definitely on the right website (edd.ca.gov). Hoping it just needs a few days to update in their system.

Wait do you have to register for UI Online? I thought they automatically set you up when you file a claim. I've been certifying for 3 weeks but I don't remember setting up anything special. Did I miss something important??

•You only need to register for UI Online if you filed your initial claim by phone or paper. If you filed online, your account was created during that process. You would have set up a password then. If you're already certifying, you clearly have an account working!

Any luck with resolving this? If you've tried all the suggestions and waited a few days, you really will need to contact EDD directly. When you do speak with them, ask them to verify your personal information in their system. Request that they check for any discrepancies between the Customer Account Number letter and what's in their database. Sometimes there are simple data entry errors that only they can fix from their end.

•Update! I waited 2 days and tried again this morning at 6am (figured the system might be less busy). Still no luck with the same info, BUT when I tried entering my name without the apostrophe, it worked! Apparently their system doesn't handle special characters well. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Glad you got it working! For anyone else facing this issue in the future, special characters in names (hyphens, apostrophes, spaces, etc.) are a common source of registration problems with UI Online. The EDD's database sometimes stores these differently than how they appear on official documents. Always try variations of your name format if you encounter matching errors.
