EDD UI Online registration error - info doesn't match system despite having EDDCAN number

I've been trying to complete my UI Online registration for the past three days and keep hitting a wall. Every time I enter my information (SSN, name, DOB, etc.), I get this frustrating error message saying 'Information given does not match the information in our system.' I've literally checked EVERYTHING multiple times: - Triple-checked all my personal info for typos - Made sure my name matches exactly what's on my Social Security card - Confirmed what info ID.me has on file for me - Have my EDDCAN number from the letter EDD mailed me Nothing works! I've tried different browsers, cleared cookies, even used my husband's laptop. Still getting the same error. I know calling is probably inevitable at this point (dreading those hold times on Tuesday morning), but has anyone encountered this specific error and found a solution? Any tricks or workarounds before I commit to spending half my day on the phone?

omg i had this EXACT same problem last month!! so frustrating!! turned out there was a hyphen in my last name in their system that i wasnt including when typing it in. try adding or removing hyphens, or if you have a suffix like Jr. or III try it with and without. also check if your address is EXACTLY matching whats on your ID - like "Street" vs "St" or "Avenue" vs "Ave" can cause it to fail. its super picky!

Thanks! I'll try variations with my name. I do have a hyphenated last name but I've been entering it with the hyphen. Maybe they have it without? Worth a shot!

This is actually a fairly common UI Online registration issue. A few things to check: 1. The EDDCAN number is case-sensitive sometimes (weird, I know) 2. If you've had multiple claims in the past, make sure you're using info from your most recent claim paperwork 3. There might be a middle name issue - try with full middle name, middle initial only, and without middle name 4. Check if your mailing address vs. residential address is causing confusion If none of those work, unfortunately you'll need to call. To avoid the wait, many people have had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD representative quickly. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Saved me hours of hold time when I had a similar account issue.

Thanks for the detailed suggestions! I never would have thought the EDDCAN might be case-sensitive. I'll try all these variations before calling. And thanks for the Claimyr tip - might be worth it if I end up needing to call. Spending 3-4 hours on hold is just not feasible with my work schedule.

Just to add something others haven't mentioned - the timing of your registration matters. If you just filed your initial claim and received your EDDCAN number recently, EDD's system sometimes takes 24-48 hours to fully process your information in all their databases. I recommend waiting until Wednesday (giving their system time after the holiday weekend) and then trying again before calling. This has resolved similar issues for several people I've helped with claims.

The EDD system is GARBAGE!!! I had the EXACT same problem in January and wasted DAYS trying to fix it myself. Called 32 TIMES before getting through. Turns out they had my birthdate wrong by ONE DAY in their system even though I gave them the correct info. The rep fixed it in 2 minutes once I finally got through. The whole system is designed to make us give up. Don't let them win!

That's infuriating! The thought that it could be something so minor but completely out of my control is what's driving me crazy. I appreciate the motivation to keep pushing though!

have u tried using the forgot username/password option? sometimes thats an easier way to get into the system than doing the full registration. worked for my cousin last week

I haven't tried that yet! That's a smart workaround. I'll give it a shot right now and report back if it works.

Update: I tried all the suggestions (THANK YOU everyone!) but still no luck. The forgot username option didn't work either because it still needs to match my info to find my account. Going to try calling tomorrow morning right when they open. Wish me luck!

If you're calling tomorrow, start dialing at exactly 7:59am. Their system starts accepting calls at 8:00am, but there's always a queue forming. I've had good luck using Claimyr when I needed to reach EDD fast without the wait. Regular calling can take forever - I've spent 6+ hours getting hung up on repeatedly. Check out their demo video (https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km) - it really helps skip that frustrating part of dealing with EDD.

One more thing to try before you call - there's a separate registration path for claimants who have received unemployment before. On the UI Online registration page, look for the link that says something like "Previously filed a claim?" or "Returning claimant" instead of using the standard registration flow. This uses a slightly different verification process that might work better with your information.

This is my first time filing, so I don't think that applies to me, but I'll check if there are any alternative registration paths I missed. Thanks for continuing to help!

I finally got it resolved by calling! The issue was that my married name was in their system, but I was trying to register with my maiden name (which is what's on my driver's license). The rep fixed it in about 5 minutes once I got through. Took about 2 hours on hold though. Hope you get yours fixed soon!
