Can't register my EDDCAN number online - stuck in verification loop!

I've been trying for 3 days straight to register my EDDCAN number in the UI Online system but keep getting an error saying 'information doesn't match our records.' I'm 100% positive I'm entering everything correctly from my award letter (SSN, DOB, EDDCAN all exactly as shown). Even tried different browsers and clearing cookies but no luck. The system just kicks me back to the registration page with that same error message! I've called the main EDD number over 30 times but either get disconnected or told they're at max capacity. Tried the technical support line but they said this isn't a technical issue and I need to speak with a claim specialist. I'm seriously stressing because I need to certify by Sunday or miss my payment. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a special number or email I can use to get actual help with EDDCAN registration issues? I feel like I'm losing my mind!!

Did you ever get yours to work? I'm about to give up and just mail in paper certifications at this point.

This happens when there's a mismatch between what EDD has in their system and what you're entering. Most common issues: 1. Your name might have a hyphen or special character in EDD's system 2. Your EDDCAN might have been entered with dashes by EDD but you're entering it without 3. Your SSN might have transposed digits in their system 4. If you've moved, they might have your old address on file Unfortunately, you DO need to speak with a representative to fix this. The technical support team can't access your personal info to compare what's in the system vs what you're entering.

Thanks for explaining! My name does have a hyphen but I've tried with and without it. The SSN and EDDCAN are definitely correct from my award letter. So frustrating that the only solution is to speak to someone but nobody answers...

I had this problem last month!!! I was ready to throw my laptop out the window lol. Turns out EDD had my birthday wrong in their system (they had the month and day switched). Took me FOREVER to reach anyone.

Omg that's insane! Did you eventually get it fixed? How did you finally reach someone?

What worked for me was using Claimyr to connect with EDD. I spent days trying to register my account with no luck, then used their service and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to see that my middle initial was causing the system to reject my registration. They fixed it right on the call and I was able to register immediately after. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Totally worth it to avoid the endless calling and frustration. The rep I spoke with said EDDCAN registration issues are super common right now.

Thank you! I've never heard of this service before. I'll check it out because I'm desperate at this point. Did the EDD rep give you any grief about using a service to get through?

No, the EDD rep didn't even mention it. They just helped fix my account information. From what I understand, they're used to getting calls through various services now.

I'm a former EDD employee, and I can tell you that EDDCAN registration issues are extremely common. The system is very particular about matching EXACTLY what's in their database. A few things to try: 1. If your name has a suffix (Jr, Sr, III), try registering with and without it 2. If you've ever changed your name, try your previous name 3. Try entering your EDDCAN with and without the dashes 4. Double-check your SSN digits (people often transpose the last four) 5. Make sure you're using the correct claim type - some people have multiple claims (UI, SDI, PFL) with different EDD numbers If none of these work, then yes, you'll need to speak with a representative. The technical support line can't help because they don't have access to your personal information for security reasons. Your best bet is to call the regular UI line at 8:01am exactly when they open - that's when you have the best chance of getting through before the queue fills up.

Thank you for these detailed suggestions! I've tried all the name variations including with/without my middle name and initial. My EDDCAN doesn't have dashes on the letter so I've been entering it without them. I'll try calling right at 8:01am tomorrow.

u can actually apply for a temporary extension to certify if u cant access ur account. its on the edd website somewhere. gives u an extra 2 weeks i think. just search for certification extension form.

Really? I didn't know that was an option! I'll look for that form right now. That would at least give me more time to get this sorted out. Thank you!

After dealing with EDD for months, I've learned that nothing works as it should. Their system is totally broken, especially the registration process. I had the exact same issue as you back in January, and I spent TWO WEEKS trying to register my EDDCAN. Turned out EDD had my birthday wrong (off by one day). The only thing that worked was getting through to an actual person. I did this by calling the 833 number, but here's the trick: when the automated system asks why you're calling, say "payment issue" not "registration problem." For some reason, they prioritize payment calls. When you get a person, THEN explain the registration issue. Also, try calling at exactly 8:01am or between 1-2pm when they come back from lunch. Those times worked best for me.

That's a great tip about saying it's a payment issue instead! I'm going to try that tomorrow morning. Two weeks is ridiculous though - I can't believe how difficult they make this process. Thanks for your help!

Just want to add one more thing to try - there's a lesser-known backdoor registration option. If you received a paper letter with a Benefit Determination, look for the Customer Account Number (different from EDDCAN) and try registering with that instead. It's usually in the top right corner of benefit letters. Some people have had success using this when the EDDCAN doesn't work.

I just checked my paperwork and I do have that Customer Account Number! Going to try registering with that right now. I'll update if it works. Fingers crossed!

Update: Still no luck with the Customer Account Number. Same error message. I think I'm just going to have to keep calling until I get through to a real person. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I went through this exact same nightmare last year! The system kept rejecting my info even though I was 100% sure everything was correct. After weeks of frustration, I finally got through to someone who told me that EDD's system is incredibly sensitive to even tiny differences. In my case, it turned out that when I originally applied for unemployment, I had entered my address with "Street" spelled out, but on my award letter they abbreviated it to "St." The system was looking for an exact match down to those little details. A few more things to try before you keep calling: - If you have any periods in your name (like "Jr." or middle initial), try with and without them - Try your address exactly as it appears on your original application if you still have it - Some people have luck calling the SDI line (1-800-480-3287) and asking to be transferred to UI - sometimes it's less busy The certification extension form Muhammad mentioned is called "Continued Claim Form DE 4581" - you can find it by searching EDD's website. It definitely buys you more time while you sort this out. Don't give up! It's incredibly frustrating but you will eventually get through to someone who can fix it.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I never would have thought about address formatting differences. I'm going to dig up my original application and compare every single detail. The SDI transfer trick is genius too - I'll try that if the direct calling doesn't work tomorrow morning. I really appreciate you taking the time to share all these tips! It's so reassuring to know other people have gotten through this mess successfully.

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Been trying to register for 4 days and getting the same "information doesn't match our records" error. It's so frustrating because I know I'm entering everything correctly from my award letter. Reading through all these responses is both helpful and terrifying - sounds like this is a super common problem but the only real solution is getting through to an actual person at EDD. I'm going to try the 8:01am calling strategy and the "payment issue" trick when the system asks why I'm calling. @Paloma Clark - did you ever get yours resolved? I'm in the same boat with certification coming up soon and really stressing about missing payments. This whole system is such a nightmare!

I'm going through the exact same thing! Started trying to register 5 days ago and getting that same error message. It's like we're all stuck in the same broken system. I've been following all the tips in this thread - tried every variation of my name, address formatting, with/without dashes in the EDDCAN, etc. Nothing works! I'm planning to call right at 8:01am tomorrow using the "payment issue" trick that @Noland Curtis mentioned. Also going to look for that certification extension form as backup. This is so stressful when you need to certify soon! @Paloma Clark really hoping you got yours sorted out - would love to hear what finally worked for you! We re all'in this nightmare together it seems.

OMG I feel your pain! I literally just went through this exact same nightmare last month. The "information doesn't match our records" error drove me absolutely insane because I KNEW everything was correct. Here's what finally worked for me after 2+ weeks of hell: **The nuclear option that actually worked:** I ended up having to physically mail a letter to EDD explaining the registration issue along with copies of all my documents (award letter, ID, etc.). I sent it certified mail to their Oakland office. A week later, someone called ME and fixed whatever was wrong in their system over the phone. **Before you go that route, try these first:** - Call the 2511 number instead of the main line - it's supposedly less busy - Try registering at weird hours like 11pm or 5am when the system might be less glitchy - Double check if you have any accent marks or apostrophes in your name that might be causing issues **Most important:** Download and submit that DE 4581 certification extension form RIGHT NOW! Don't wait - it gives you breathing room while you sort this mess out. The whole system is completely broken. You're not crazy, you're not doing anything wrong - EDD's registration system is just garbage. Hang in there, you WILL get through this eventually! 💪

Thank you so much for sharing all these detailed tips! The mailing option is something I hadn't considered - that's actually brilliant that they called YOU back instead of you having to keep trying to reach them. I'm definitely going to submit that DE 4581 form today as backup while I keep trying to get through by phone. It's crazy how many of us are dealing with this exact same issue - really shows how broken their system is. I'll try the 2511 number and those weird hours too. Really appreciate you taking the time to help!

I'm going through this EXACT same nightmare right now! Been trying to register my EDDCAN for 6 days straight and getting that same "information doesn't match our records" error. I've tried literally everything - different browsers, clearing cache, with/without middle initial, address variations, you name it. The most frustrating part is KNOWING that I'm entering everything correctly from my award letter but the system just keeps rejecting it. I have certification coming up in a few days too so the stress is real! Reading through everyone's experiences here is both reassuring (I'm not alone!) and terrifying (this could take weeks to resolve). I'm going to try calling right at 8:01am tomorrow using the "payment issue" trick, and also look into that DE 4581 extension form as backup. @Paloma Clark hoping you got yours resolved! Would love to hear what finally worked. This whole thread is like a support group for EDD's broken registration system 😩

I just went through this same exact situation two weeks ago! It's like we're all trapped in the same EDD registration nightmare. What finally worked for me was calling the 833 number at exactly 8:01am and when the automated system asked why I was calling, I said "payment issue" instead of "registration problem" (thanks to whoever shared that tip earlier!). Got through on my 4th try doing this and the rep immediately saw that EDD had my apartment number formatted differently than what was on my award letter - they had "Apt 5B" in the system but my letter showed "Apartment 5B". Fixed it instantly and I could register right after the call. Definitely submit that DE 4581 extension form TODAY though - it saved me from missing payments while sorting this mess out. The whole system is absolutely broken but you will get through it eventually! Keep us updated on what works for you 🤞

I'm dealing with this EXACT same issue right now! Been stuck in this registration loop for over a week and it's driving me absolutely insane. The "information doesn't match our records" error is like a broken record at this point. What's really getting to me is that I've triple-checked everything against my award letter - SSN, DOB, EDDCAN, name spelling, everything matches perfectly. I've tried different browsers, cleared cookies, even tried from my phone and a friend's computer. Nothing works! The calling situation is just as bad. I've probably called 50+ times and either get disconnected immediately or the "maximum capacity" message. When I did get through to technical support once, they basically said "not our problem, call the regular line" which was super unhelpful. Reading through all these responses is both comforting (I'm not alone in this nightmare!) and scary (some people took WEEKS to resolve this). I'm definitely going to try that 8:01am calling strategy and the "payment issue" trick when prompted. Also looking up that DE 4581 extension form right now because my certification deadline is coming up fast. Has anyone tried contacting their local assemblyperson's office? I've heard they sometimes have special EDD contact numbers for constituent services. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get out of this registration hell!

Ethan Taylor

Yes! Contacting your assemblyperson's office is actually a great idea that more people should know about. I did this when I was stuck in EDD hell for almost a month and it really helped. Most assembly offices have dedicated staff who deal with EDD issues and they have special contact numbers that can get you connected faster. You just need to fill out a constituent services form on your assemblyperson's website explaining your situation. They can't guarantee immediate results but they do have more direct lines to EDD supervisors who can actually look into system issues. In my case, they were able to escalate my registration problem and I got a callback within 3 business days. Also definitely submit that DE 4581 form ASAP - it's literally a lifesaver when you're running out of time to certify. The whole registration system is completely broken right now and you're definitely not alone in this nightmare. Hang in there, you will get through it eventually! 💪
