EDD account setup failing - EDDCAN numbers not matching with my personal info
I received my EDDCAN number in the mail yesterday after filing my claim 2 weeks ago, but I'm hitting a wall trying to register for UI Online. Every time I enter my information (name, birthdate, SSN, and the EDDCAN), the system keeps telling me 'information does not match our records.' I've triple-checked everything - my name is exactly as it appears on the letter, birthdate is correct format (MM/DD/YYYY), I'm entering my full SSN with no dashes, and the EDDCAN is exactly as printed on the notice. I've tried 5 different times with the same result. Has anyone else run into this registration problem? Is there some trick to getting your information accepted? I'm worried about missing my first certification period if I can't get into the system soon.

yep happened to me too last month... super annoying!! make sure ur not putting any spaces after ur name. also try entering ur name EXACTLY how it appears on the EDD letter (like if they have your middle name or initial included). the system is crazy picky

•Thanks for the tip! Let me try without spaces. My name is pretty long (12 characters) so maybe that's causing issues. Did you eventually get yours to work?

I experienced this same issue and discovered the problem was how I entered my birthdate. EDD's system requires MM/DD/YYYY format, but sometimes people mistakenly enter DD/MM/YYYY if they're used to that format. Another common error is entering your name exactly as on your ID, when what matters is entering it exactly as EDD has it in their system (which might include or exclude your middle name/initial). Finally, make sure the EDDCAN you're entering doesn't include any dashes or spaces - just the numbers. If none of these solutions work, you might need to call EDD directly as there could be a data entry error on their end.

•I'm definitely using MM/DD/YYYY format and no spaces in the EDDCAN. I think you might be right about the name issue though - my middle name is on my driver's license but the EDD letter only shows first and last. I'll try it without my middle name. Thanks!

GUYS THE EDD SYSTEM IS LEGIT BROKEN HALF THE TIME!! i tried for TWO WEEKS to register and kept getting that error. turns out they had my birthdate wrong in their system!! when i finally got through to someone they had me off by ONE DAY. like seriously?? check all ur docs - they might have entered something wrong when inputting ur claim.

•Oh no, that's concerning. How did you eventually solve it? Did you have to call them to fix the birthdate error?

yeah had to call like 50 times before getting through. they fixed it on their end and then i could register. total nightmare

•This is why I always recommend Claimyr to get through to EDD quickly. After trying for days to reach an agent, I used their service at claimyr.com and got a callback from EDD in under 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Totally worth it when you're dealing with registration issues that can only be fixed by a live agent.

Registration issues are actually quite common with UI Online. Here's a systematic approach to troubleshooting: 1. Wait 24-48 hours after receiving your EDDCAN before attempting to register (sometimes there's a processing delay in their system) 2. Try registering during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) 3. Ensure your browser has cookies enabled and try clearing your cache 4. If your name has special characters (hyphens, apostrophes), try with AND without them 5. If none of the above works, there's likely a data mismatch in EDD's system that requires agent intervention For the last point, you'll need to call the technical support line at 1-833-978-2511 (not the regular EDD number). They can verify your information and make corrections if needed.

•Thank you for the detailed steps! I've only had the EDDCAN for a day, so maybe I just need to wait a bit longer. I'll try again tomorrow morning and then consider calling that technical support number if it still fails.

i had same problm registering & thought i was going crazy!! turned out i was using my married name but edd had my maiden name in ther system from an old w2. check if theres ANY way ur name could be different in their files. also the eddcan numbers can be hard to read sometimes - that zero might be letter O or the letter I might be number 1. really stupid system design...

•This is exactly right! The OCR they use for processing documents sometimes gets names wrong too. When I worked at a company that did similar processing, we had a 5% error rate just on names alone. Their system is outdated and doesn't handle these errors well.

UPDATE: I finally got it working! It was actually a combination of issues. First, I waited until early this morning to try again (less system load maybe?). Second, I entered my name EXACTLY as it appeared on the EDD letter - turns out they had my first name as just my first initial and then my full middle name as my "first name"! No wonder it wasn't matching. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Great to hear you resolved it! This is a perfect example of why EDD's identity verification can be so frustrating - their internal records don't always match what we expect them to have. For future reference, whenever you receive ANY communication from EDD, always note exactly how they have your name formatted, as that's what their system will be looking for during verification steps. This applies to UI Online, phone verification, and even the ID.me process.

•That's excellent advice. I'll definitely keep track of how they format my name on all future communications. Now I just need to figure out how to certify for benefits!
