PFL claim status unknown & SSN error preventing use of dial-in services. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my PFL claim and need some advice. I filed a while back but I'm not sure about the status. On top of that, I think there might be an issue with my social security number in their system. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm trying to use some of the dial-in services but can't because of the SSN problem. Any tips on how to get this sorted out?

Ugh, dealing with PFL claims is such a headache! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling their main line? It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were able to help me sort out my SSN problem.

•I've been trying to call for days but no luck. It's so frustrating! How long did you have to wait on hold?

•Honestly, it was ridiculous. I think I was on hold for like 3 hours before someone picked up. But it was worth it in the end. Just make sure you have all your paperwork ready when you call!

•3 hours?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better way to handle this stuff. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting for hours! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Wow, that sounds too good to be true. Have you actually tried it yourself? Is it legit?

•Yep, I've used it twice now. Saved me hours of frustration. It's totally worth the $20 imo.

•Idk man, paying to get through to a government service feels kinda sketchy. Shouldn't this be free?

•I get where you're coming from, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold. Plus, it's a third-party service, not the government charging extra.

Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes its faster than calling. Just go to the PFL website and look for the 'Check Claim Status' option. You might need to create an account if you haven't already.

I had the same issue with my SSN being incorrect in there system. It was a nightmare to fix! Here's what worked for me: 1. Gather all your documents (SSN card, ID, claim paperwork) 2. Write a detailed letter explaining the error 3. Fax everything to their main office 4. Follow up with a phone call after a week It took about 3 weeks total, but they finally fixed it. Good luck!

•Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely give this a try. Did you use a specific fax number?

•You're welcome! I used the general fax number on their website. Just make sure to include your claim number on every page you send.

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul. It's 2023, why can't they get their act together?

Hey OP, sorry youre going through this. Quick question - when did you initially file your claim? The processing times can vary a lot depending on when you submitted everything.

•I filed about 6 weeks ago. Is that considered a long time for processing?

•6 weeks is actually not too bad. They say it can take up to 8 weeks during busy periods. But the SSN issue might be causing delays. Def try to get that sorted ASAP.

Pro tip: If you're having trouble with the phone lines, try calling right when they open in the morning. I've had better luck getting through that way. Also, Wednesdays seem to be less busy for some reason. 🤷♂️

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative's office? Sometimes they can help expedite things or at least get you in touch with the right person at PFL. Worth a shot if you're really stuck!

•This! 👆 I did this last year and it actually worked. My rep's office had a dedicated person for dealing with state benefit issues. They got my problem solved in like a week.

•That's really good to know! I never thought about contacting my representative's office. Do you just call their main number and explain the situation, or is there a specific department to ask for?
