EDD PFL: No debit card or payments after filing claim. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with EDD Paid Family Leave. I filed my claim a while back, but I still haven't received my debit card or any payments. I'm getting really worried and frustrated. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next? I've been trying to call them, but it's impossible to get through. The number I have is 877-238-4373, but I'm not sure if that's even the right one anymore. This whole process is so confusing!

Ugh, I feel your pain! 😫 I went through something similar with my disability claim. It took FOREVER to get my card. Have you tried checking your claim status online? Sometimes that gives more info than the phone reps (if you can even reach one).

Thanks for the suggestion! I've tried checking online, but it just says my claim is processing. No other details. It's so frustrating!

Online status is useless half the time anyway. I swear they never update it 🙄

True that! The whole system needs an overhaul. It's like were still using tech from the 90s or something 💀

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. The number they called from was different (888-506-3112), but they connected me to EDD.

I get it, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day trying to get through. Just sharing what worked for me! 🤷♂️

Listen up, because I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, online checks, and any correspondence. 2. Send a written request for claim status update via certified mail. This creates a paper trail. 3. Contact your local state representative or senator's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. 4. If you're really desperate, consider reaching out to local media. Sometimes public pressure can speed things up. 5. Keep calling, but try at off-peak hours like right when they open or just before closing. 6. Check if there's an ombudsman office for EDD. They might be able to help. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is broken, but you gotta play the game to win. Good luck!

Have you checked your mail carefully? Sometimes the debit card comes in a really plain envelope that looks like junk mail. I almost threw mine away by accident!

OMG, don't even get me started on EDD! 🤬 I've been waiting for my unemployment extension for MONTHS. It's like they're playing games with our lives. The whole system is a joke!

Preach! 🙌 It's a total clown show. How are we supposed to survive while they take their sweet time?

Hey now, let's not forget the EDD workers are probably overwhelmed too. The system sucks, but it's not the fault of the people on the phones.

Fair point, but that doesn't pay my bills. Something's gotta change!

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you filed your claim? Like an email or a letter? Might be worth double-checking that everything went through correctly on their end.

I got an email confirmation, but nothing beyond that. No updates or anything. It's like my claim went into a black hole.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other EDD numbers. Sometimes you can get transferred to the right department that way. It's a pain, but it's worked for me before.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄 It's like they're stuck in 1995 or something.

LOL truth! I swear they're running it on a Commodore 64 in someone's basement 😂

For real tho, how hard is it to build a website that actually works? My kid could probably do a better job with his Legos 🧱
