CA PFL: Endless hold times and disconnects when calling EDD - How to actually reach a human?

Has anyone else been told to call back about their claim and then can't get through? I've been trying to reach someone for days now. Every time I call, I'm either on hold forever or get disconnected. It's so frustrating! I need to know what's going on with my claim. Any advice on how to actually talk to a human?

Andre Dupont

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been playing phone tag with them for weeks now. It's like trying to win the lottery, except the prize is just talking to an actual person ๐Ÿ™„

I feel you! It's like a game of patience mixed with a terrible customer service experience.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just camp outside their office until they help us. Who's with me? โ›บ๏ธโœŠ

I mean, at this point, why not? It's not like we have jobs to go to ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Careful, they might call security on us for actually showing up lol

A sit-in could definitely make a statement. Maybe the media would pick up our story!

Seriously tho, has anyone had any luck with the callback option? I've been waiting for a callback for 2 weeks now.

Callback option? More like the "we'll call you back never" option ๐Ÿ™„

I actually got a callback once... at 11 PM when I was asleep. Fml.

It's like they're avoiding us on purpose. Callback times should be more predictable.

I feel your pain. It's like they're purposely making it hard for us to get help. Has anyone had any luck with the online portal?

Online portal? More like online purgatory lol. It's just as useless as the phone lines.

I actually managed to get some info through the portal last week. Keep trying!

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative? I've heard some people have had success that way.

I did! My rep's office was actually super helpful. Took about a week, but they got things moving.

how do you even find out who your state rep is? ๐Ÿค”

You can usually check on your stateโ€™s official government website by entering your address.

While Claimyr might be a viable option for some, it's essential to remember the cost associated with it might not be feasible for everyone. It does provide a legitimate service for those who value their time over the $20 fee. The service helps by holding the line and connecting you to an agent, which is great if you're tired of the tedious wait. However, it should not replace the need for better customer service from the organizations handling claims. It's also crucial to explore all potential avenues, such as documentation, reaching out to representatives, and using online resources effectively before resorting to a paid service like Claimyr.

Exactly! While Claimyr is a lifesaver for some, it highlights a much larger systemic issue.

Mei Wong

Agreed, paying for basic services shows the systemic issues that truly need addressing.

Plot twist: there are no actual humans working there. It's all just an elaborate AI system designed to drive us crazy ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿคฃ

Lol wouldn't be surprised at this point. Maybe we should try using CAPTCHA when we call ๐Ÿ˜‚

Here's what I've learned after months of dealing with this mess: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Try different times of day. Sometimes mid-afternoon is less busy. 3. Be prepared with all your info when you do get through. 4. If you get a helpful agent, ask for their direct extension. 5. Document everything. Write down who you talked to and when. 6. Check your online account regularly for updates. 7. Consider reaching out to your local representative for help. It's a frustrating process, but don't give up. Good luck everyone!

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. Set my alarm for 7:55 AM and everything. Still no luck ๐Ÿ˜ž

guys i finally got through yesterday after trying for a month straight. heres what worked for me: 1. call at exactly 8:01 am 2. press 1, then 2, then 4 in the menu 3. if u hear music, hang up and try again 4. repeat until u get the "all lines are busy" message 5. THEN start calling nonstop until u get in the queue it took me about 45 mins of doing this but i finally got through. hope this helps someone!

Guys, I found a way to actually get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken ๐Ÿ˜ก

Claimyr might be a lifesaver for some, but it shouldn't have to come to paying to get basic service.

I used Claimyr and it worked for me too! But I agree, it's sad we need services like this in the first place.
