Stuck on hold trying to check claim status with EDD - any tips to get through?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to check the status of my claim and I've been on hold forever. Anyone else dealing with this? It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on with my case. Any tips on how to get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone. 🙄

•Weeks? Try months! I swear they're doing this on purpose to discourage us from claiming.

•I heard if you call right when they open, you have a better chance of getting through. Haven't tried it myself tho

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? That's ridiculous. We shouldn't have to pay to get basic service.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate enough to try anything. It's legit.

•Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Yeah, basically. Their system navigates the phone menu and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone. Saved me hours of frustration.

Have you tried checking your status online? Sometimes it's faster than calling.

I've been dealing with this for months now. It's absolutely ridiculous how hard they make it to get any information. I've tried calling, emailing, even sending a letter. Nothing works. The system is broken.

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're living in the stone age. How hard is it to set up a decent online system?

•Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this for way too long: 1. Call early in the morning, right when they open. You're more likely to get through. 2. If you can't get through, keep trying throughout the day. Sometimes they have lulls in call volume. 3. Be prepared with all your information before you call. Have your claim number, social security number, and any relevant dates ready. 4. If you get through, ask for a direct number or extension for follow-up calls. 5. Document everything. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 6. If all else fails, consider reaching out to your local representative or ombudsman. It's a frustrating process, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

•Great advice! I'd add: be super nice to the person who answers. They deal with angry people all day, so being kind can go a long way.

Has anyone else noticed that the online status doesn't always match what they tell you on the phone? I'm so confused about whats actually going on with my claim.

•YES! I thought I was going crazy. The website said my claim was approved, but when I finally got through on the phone, they said it was still pending. Make it make sense! 🤯
