EDD SDI claim status update: Stuck on hold for hours, line drops. How to reach a real person?

Has anyone else been waiting forever to get an update on their claim status? I've been trying to reach someone for days now. Every time I call, I'm stuck on hold for hours and then the line just drops. It's so frustrating! I need to know if they've received all my documents and if my claim is being processed. Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

It's legit, I promise. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

Has anyone else noticed that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point.

omg yes!!! i swear they do it on purpose 😤

Pro tip: try accessing the site using incognito mode or a different browser. Sometimes that works for me.

have u tried faxing ur documents? sometimes that works better than email or mail

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 🤣 But seriously, I'll try anything at this point. Thanks for the tip!

Some government offices still rely on fax machines. It's worth a try!

I think it might be worth trying Claimyr if you're at your wits' end. They seem to have a system in place that can bypass a lot of the typical hurdles. But remember, it's just one tool in the toolbox. There are always pros and cons. The con being the cost, but for some, the time saved might outweigh this. Always consider and compare all available options.

I appreciate the balanced perspective. It's good to weigh the costs and benefits.

Guys, I just got through after trying for weeks! Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 8:01 AM 2. Press 1, then 2, then 4 in the menu 3. If you hear music, hang up and try again 4. Repeat until you get the "all representatives are busy" message 5. STAY ON THE LINE after that message It took me about 20 tries, but I finally got through to a real person. Hope this helps someone!

Thank you! I'm definitely trying this tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

This is some mission impossible level stuff lol. But desperate times call for desperate measures I guess

I've been doing this for days and still no luck. Maybe I'm just cursed 😭

0 coins

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

0 coins

Yeah, I've tried that. Still no luck. It's like playing the lottery at this point.

I've had better luck calling later in the day, around 3 PM. Less people trying then.

Here's what I've learned after months of dealing with this mess: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Document EVERYTHING. Write down who you talked to, when, and what they said. 3. Use multiple channels - phone, email, online portal, snail mail. Sometimes one works better than others. 4. Check your spam folder regularly. Important emails sometimes end up there. 5. Join Facebook groups or forums for your state's unemployment. People share tips and updates there. 6. Be polite but firm with agents. They're overwhelmed too, but you need answers. 7. If all else fails, contact your state representative or senator. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed and it sucks, but keep pushing. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try these tips. It's good to know I'm not alone in this struggle.

This is gold 💯 Wish I had known all this when I first started dealing with unemployment!

I'm telling you, the whole system is rigged. They make it impossible to get help on purpose. Wake up, sheeple! 🐑🐑🐑

Oh great, here come the conspiracy theories 🙄

0 coins

It's not a theory if it's true! Do your research!

Anyone else feel like they're trapped in a kafka-esque nightmare dealing with unemployment? It's like the more you try to get help, the more confusing and frustrating it becomes.

0 coins

For real. I'm half expecting to wake up one day transformed into a giant bug at this point.

lmao kafka reference in an unemployment thread? we truly live in the worst timeline 🤣

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with this for months now. It's ridiculous how broken the system is. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

0 coins

That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

0 coins

Just google "[your state] find my representative". They usually have contact forms on their websites. Good luck!

Welcome to the club, buddy. We're all in the same boat here. I've been trying to get an update for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone. 🤔

Seriously, it feels like a never-ending cycle of frustration. Hang in there!
