Money Network card hacked, $7700 stolen - EDD benefits on hold. Help!
My money network card got hacked and over $7700 was stolen! I called customer service and they closed my account. Now I need to set up direct deposit for my benefits. Has anyone else dealt with this? The customer service rep said they'd send me a new card and a dispute form, but I only got the form. When I called back, they said there's no order for a new card and I should just set up direct deposit with my personal bank account. They'll mail me a check for the stolen money once the dispute is resolved. This is so frustrating! Any advice on what to do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I had something similar happen to me last year. Here's what I did: 1. File a police report ASAP 2. Contact the three credit bureaus and put a freeze on your credit 3. Set up that direct deposit like they said 4. Keep calling Money Network every few days for updates 5. Document EVERYTHING It took about 6 weeks, but I eventually got my money back. Stay on top of it!

Thanks for the advice! Did you have any trouble setting up the direct deposit? I'm worried about delays in getting my benefits.

Nah, setting up direct deposit was actually pretty easy. Just make sure you have your bank account and routing number ready. It took about 3-5 business days for the first deposit to hit my account after I set it up.

This is great advice! I'd also recommend setting up alerts on your other bank accounts and credit cards. Better safe than sorry!

For real! It's like they make it hard on purpose. I swear, dealing with EDD is a full-time job itself 🙄

Preach! 🙌 I've spent more time on hold with EDD than I have looking for actual work lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 😤

I get it, but think about how much your time is worth. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day on hold 🤷♂️

Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember or state senator? They can sometimes help push things along with EDD. Worth a shot!

It's the worst, right? How long have you been waiting on your dispute?

Pro tip: While you're waiting for this to get sorted out, make sure you're still certifying for benefits every two weeks. Don't want to miss out on any payments!

Don't even joke about that 😅 Can you imagine trying to explain blockchain to the EDD customer service reps?

Hey OP, make sure you change ALL your passwords, especially your email. These hackers often get access to multiple accounts. Enable two-factor authentication wherever you can too!
