PA UC Money Network card closed as 'compromised' - where will my payments go now?
Just found out my Money Network card was shut down because it was supposedly 'compromised.' The PA UC rep told me I need to contact some program about alternative payment options, but I'm completely lost. I tried setting up direct deposit months ago and was denied for some reason (can't even remember why now). So if my card is closed and direct deposit isn't working, where the heck is my money going?? I just filed my weekly certification TODAY and now I'm panicking because I have no idea where that payment will end up. The Money Network account is definitely closed, so it can't go there. Has anyone dealt with this nightmare before? What are my options right now? Bills are coming due and I seriously need this payment!

I went through this exact headache last winter. When your Money Network card gets compromised, your payments actually go into a holding status until you establish a new payment method. You need to call the UC Service Center ASAP to set up either a new card OR try direct deposit again. The good news is your money isn't lost - it's just waiting for you to give them somewhere to send it. The bad news is... getting through to an actual human at the UC office.

•Oh thank god the money isn't just disappearing into the void! Did they tell you why your card was 'compromised'? Mine just suddenly stopped working and then I got that message. I'm worried about how long this will take to fix...

There are actually 3 options for PA UC payments: 1. Direct deposit (fastest) 2. Money Network debit card (what you had) 3. Paper check (slowest) If your card was compromised, you should be able to request a paper check while you sort out the direct deposit issue. Call the UC Service Center and specifically ask about switching to paper checks temporarily. You'll also need to ask them why your direct deposit application was denied previously - it might have been something simple like a typo in your account number that can be fixed easily. Make sure you have your banking information ready when you call. They'll need your routing number and account number to set up direct deposit.

•I didn't even know paper checks were still an option! That would be better than nothing while I figure out the direct deposit situation. Thanks for the detailed info!

I had my Money Network card compromised twice last year!!! The UC system is TERRIBLE about handling these situations. They'll make you jump through 500 hoops to prove your identity again even though it's not your fault someone hacked the card. The real problem is Money Network's terrible security! 😡

Have you tried using Claimyr to reach a PA UC representative? I was in a similar situation where my payment method got messed up, and I spent days trying to get through on the phone with no luck. I found this service at claimyr.com that got me through to a UC agent in under an hour. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 It was literally the only way I could talk to someone to fix my payment issue. The agent was able to set up a new payment method right away once I finally got through.

•Never heard of this but I'm desperate at this point. I've already called 8 times today and just get busy signals or disconnected. I'll check out that video, thanks!

•I'm skeptical of these services... do they actually work? Has anyone else here used it?

btw make sure u check ur account info is correct in the system. my direct deposit got rejected because i switched banks but forgot to update my routing number in the PA UC portal. took me 3 weeks to figure it out lol

•This is good advice. A lot of direct deposit issues are because of mismatched account information. Check every digit carefully when you set it up!

Quick question: when your Money Network card was compromised, did you also get an email about potential fraud on your account? I'm wondering if there's more going on here than just a card issue. Sometimes when PA UC flags potential fraud, they'll lock everything including payment methods until you verify your identity again. Might want to check if there are any identity verification tasks in your dashboard too.

•I did get a weird email about unusual activity! I thought it was just about the card, but you might be right - maybe my whole account has some kind of fraud flag. I'll check my dashboard for any identity verification tasks. Thank you for pointing this out!!

Just thought I'd update you - I called the PA Treasury (not UC) about my compromised card last time, and they were actually more helpful than UC. The number should be on the back of your Money Network card. They can sometimes tell you exactly what happened and expedite a replacement.

•That's a great tip! I still have my old card so I'll try calling the Treasury number on the back. Maybe they can at least tell me why it was flagged as compromised.

Just to give you some peace of mind while you work on this: when payments have nowhere to go because of a closed Money Network account, they typically get held in the system for up to 45 days. So your money won't be lost - it's just a matter of establishing a new payment method before you can access it. The fastest solution is usually to get through to a live person at UC who can update your payment preferences immediately.

•That 45-day timeframe is really helpful to know, thank you! I managed to get through to someone using that Claimyr service another person mentioned. They're sending me a paper check for this week's payment and helped me fix the direct deposit issue for future payments. Turns out I had my account number typed wrong last time!
