PA UC Money Network card says 'online account unregistered' - can't access benefits

Has anyone been unable to access their PA unemployment benefits through the Money Network card? When I try calling the number on the back of the card, it just tells me my 'online account is unregistered and unavailable.' I got my first payment deposited last week, but now I can't check my balance or use the funds! I've tried calling multiple times at different hours but get the same automated message. Can't access the online portal either. Bills are due next week and I'm starting to panic. What should I do?

same happened to me! gotta call and REGISTER ur account first. they dont tell u that part lol

Thanks, but how do I register if the automated system won't let me through to talk to anyone? It just keeps saying unregistered and then hangs up!

This is a common issue with the new Money Network cards. You need to complete the full registration process before you can access your funds. When you call the number, instead of checking your balance, press 0 twice to reach a representative who can help activate your account. Make sure you have your card number, last 4 of SSN, and the exact name on your UC claim ready. They'll ask security questions to verify your identity before setting up your PIN and password for online access.

The Money Network cards are THE WORST!! I had the same problem and spent 3 DAYS trying to get through to someone!!! The whole unemployment system is designed to make it impossible to get your benefits even after you've been approved!!

I had this exact issue back in January. The trick is pressing 0 immediately when the automated system starts, then pressing 0 again when prompted. This should bypass the registration check and get you to a real person. If that doesn't work, try calling the PA UC customer service directly at 1-888-313-7284 and explain the situation. They can sometimes help troubleshoot Money Network card issues or transfer you to the right department. And pro tip - if you're having trouble getting through to anyone at PA UC (which is sadly common), I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a rep in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Saved me a ton of frustration.

Thank you! I'll try the 0 trick first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I might check out that Claimyr service. At this point I just need to talk to someone who can fix this. Appreciate the help!

Is your name exactly the same on your card as it is on your UC account? Mine had my middle initial on the card but not on my UC account and that was causing the same error message. Had to get them to reissue a new card with the exact same name. Took 7-10 business days to arrive. Meanwhile they can do a paper check if you call and request it.

i didnt have this exact problem but when i got my money network card i couldnt use it for like a week? called the number and got transfered like 5 times nobody knew what was wrong. finally someone told me there was a security hold that needed to be removed. might be worth asking about that specifically when u get through

That's good to know about the security hold - I'll definitely ask about that. So frustrating that they don't explain these things when they send the card!

Just a follow-up - since your initial payment was already deposited, the account definitely exists in their system. This is almost certainly just an activation/registration issue. Once you get through to a representative, ask them to confirm your contact information is correct in their system. Sometimes the phone number or address they have on file doesn't match what you provided to UC, and this creates verification problems. Also, be sure to set up both the phone PIN and online access during the same call if possible.

yep this right here is key! i had my old address still in system and that messed everything up

WHY does PA make EVERYTHING so complicated?? I swear they do this on purpose to stop people from getting their money. I had to call 47 TIMES before someone picked up to help with my card issue. The whole system is broken and nobody cares!!

agreed its pretty bad. my brother in ohio got his unemployment on a regular direct deposit to his bank account. why cant PA do that??? the cards are just another way for them to make it complicated

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the exact same issue right now with my Money Network card saying my account is unregistered. Been trying to figure it out all morning.

Yes! Finally got it working yesterday. The trick of pressing 0 twice worked to get me to a human. Turns out there was a typo in my date of birth in their system that was causing the verification to fail. The rep fixed it and walked me through the registration process. Now I can access everything online too. Definitely keep trying to reach someone directly!
