EDD payment delayed after holiday & partial certification allowed - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated right now. I was supposed to get my unemployment payment last week, either Thursday or Friday. I know there was a holiday, but it's been several days now and I still haven't seen any change in my payment status. To make things worse, when I tried to certify for benefits, the system only let me certify for part of the period (Nov 15-23) instead of the full two weeks. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been in the same boat before. The holiday probably messed things up, but it shouldn't take this long. Have you tried calling EDD? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and be ready to dial. It's annoying but it works sometimes.

The partial certification thing happened to me too! It's because of the way the weeks fall this year. You'll probably be able to certify for the rest of the days in your next certification period. As for the payment delay, that's probably due to the holiday backlog. Give it a couple more days before panicking.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•I know it sucks to pay, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic. Delays are common, especially around holidays. 2. Keep certifying as normal. The partial week thing is just how the calendar fell this time. 3. Check your UI Online account for any messages or alerts. 4. If you don't see any updates in 3-5 business days, then it's time to contact EDD. 5. When calling, use the trick of entering '1' and then '2' immediately after the automated message starts. It sometimes bypasses the queue. 6. If all else fails, contact your local assembly member's office. They can often help push things through. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off.

•Y'all need to chill. The EDD staff are doing their best with an outdated system and unprecedented demand.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your UI Online account is up to date with your current contact info.

This happened to me last month. Turns out there was an identity verification issue I didn't know about. Definitely try to get someone on the phone if you can.

•Oh no, I hope that's not the case for me. How long did it take you to resolve it?

•It took about 2 weeks total. But once I got someone on the phone, they fixed it pretty quick. Don't lose hope!
