EDD UI payment delayed after certification - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I certified my hours for unemployment like I always do, but I still haven't gotten paid. It's been a few days now and I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what I should do next? I really need this money to pay my bills and I'm not sure why it's taking so long this time.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

•Sounds sketchy af. You sure this isn't a scam?

•Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 just to talk to EDD? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•I get it, but tbh it was worth it for me. Time is money, and I was wasting whole days trying to get through.

•I tried it too, and it worked. Just wish there were more free resources to help out in situations like these.

I noticed sometimes delays happen due to holiday processing times. Was there a holiday recently that might have affected the timing?

Have you tried calling EDD? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying all day but can't get through. It's either busy or I get disconnected after waiting for hours 😭

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 AM. It's still a pain but you might have better luck.

•Another tip is to try calling late in the afternoon. Sometimes the lines are less busy then.

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD system is such a mess rn. I had the same issue last month. Have you checked your UI Online account to see if there's any messages or updates?

Max Reyes
•Yeah, I checked but there's nothing new there. Just says 'pending' for the payment. It's so frustrating!

Adrian Connor
•Pending could mean anything tbh. Sometimes it takes a few extra days, but if it goes on for more than a week, you might wanna call them.

•Maybe also check if there are any system-wide issues announced. Sometimes they have technical problems that affect payments.

Have you double-checked that you answered all the certification questions correctly? Sometimes one wrong answer can hold up the whole process.

•I'm pretty sure I did everything right, but maybe I'll go back and review my answers. Thanks for the suggestion!

•Also, ensure that your personal information is up to date to avoid any unnecessary hold-ups.

Have you checked if there's a hold on your account? Sometimes they do random eligibility checks that can delay payments.

Jabari-Jo
•Good point. Those random checks can really mess up the timeline.

This happened to me before. Turns out there was an issue with my identity verification. Might be worth checking if that's the problem for you too.

•How did you find out about the identity verification issue? Did they send you a notice or something?

Lindsey Fry
•Yeah, they sent me a message in my UI Online inbox. But it took forever to show up. Maybe check there again?

•Also, it's a good idea to check your email for any notifications. Sometimes they send requests for additional information there.

Okay, let me break this down for you based on my experience and what I've learned from dealing with EDD for way too long: 1. First, don't panic. Sometimes payments can be delayed for various reasons. 2. Double-check your certification: - Make sure you answered all questions correctly - Verify that you reported any income accurately - Check if you accidentally put in the wrong dates 3. Check your UI Online account: - Look for any new messages or notices - See if your claim status has changed - Verify your payment history to ensure there are no discrepancies 4. Identity verification: - EDD might need additional proof of identity - Check if you've received any requests for documents 5. Contacting EDD: - Try calling early in the morning (right when they open) - Use the online contact form if you can't get through by phone - Consider using a paid service like Claimyr if you're desperate (though it sucks we have to pay extra) 6. Last resort options: - Contact your local assembly member's office for help - File an appeal if you believe there's been a mistake Remember, the system is overwhelmed, so patience is key. But don't be afraid to be persistent if you need that money. Good luck!

•This should be pinned to the top of the subreddit tbh. So many people have this issue.

•Great advice! Just wanna add that contacting your assembly member can be surprisingly effective. They have special channels to EDD.

•Also, if you're able, try visiting an EDD office in person. Sometimes face-to-face can expedite things.

Guys, I think we're all missing the bigger picture here. The whole system is designed to be frustrating so fewer people claim benefits. It's all part of the plan 👀

•Take off the tinfoil hat, bro. It's just incompetence, not conspiracy.

•Wake up, sheeple! 🐑 You really think a system this broken is an accident?

•Whether planned or not, the effect is the same. It's tough for anyone relying on benefits.
