EDD Permanent Disability Claim: No response after 2 months. Help!

I filed for permanent disability almost two months ago and haven't heard anything back. It's getting frustrating. Has anyone else experienced long wait times? Any advice on how to speed up the process or at least get an update on my claim status?

Ugh, I feel ya. The EDD is like a black hole where claims go to die. I waited 3 months before I heard anything back. My advice? Keep calling them every week. It's annoying, but it seems to be the only way to get things moving.

3 months? You got lucky! I've been waiting for 5 months now. This system is so broken 😤

Calling every week sounds exhausting. Isn't there a better way?

Trust me, I know it sucks. But its either that or wait in silence 🤷‍♂️

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's ridiculous. The EDD should be more accessible for free.

I get the skepticism, but after weeks of trying to get through, it was worth every penny for me. Got my issue resolved in one call.

How long did you have to wait once they called you back?

0 coins

It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and they called when an agent was ready. Way better than being stuck on hold yourself.

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online message. It'll help if you need to escalate your case later.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. Worth a shot!

This! 👆 My rep's office was super helpful. Definitely give it a try, OP.

I'm in the same boat, filed about 10 weeks ago. It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on. I've tried calling but can never get through. Starting to feel hopeless...

Hang in there! The system is slow, but it does work... eventually. 💪

Thanks for the encouragement. Just wish there was more transparency in the process.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with EDD Disability claims: 1. Persistence is key. Call regularly, but be polite to the agents. 2. Use the online portal to send messages. Sometimes you get faster responses there. 3. Make sure ALL your paperwork is in order. Any missing document can delay your claim. 4. If you have a doctor or healthcare provider, ask them to follow up on their end too. 5. Consider reaching out to a disability advocate or lawyer if things drag on too long. 6. Don't forget to check your mail frequently. Sometimes they send important notices that need quick responses. Remember, the process can be slow, but stay proactive. Good luck!

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit. So helpful!

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤡 Buckle up, it's gonna be a long ride

Has anyone had luck with the EDD's virtual assistant on their website? I've been trying to use it but it seems pretty limited.

That thing is useless. It's like talking to a brick wall but less productive 🙄

I actually got some basic questions answered there. But for anything complex, you definitely need a human.

Unpopular opinion: sometimes the wait isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I got my claim processed in 3 weeks. Maybe I just got lucky?

Who paid you to say this? 😂 Jk, but seriously, you must have won the EDD lottery

Lol I swear I'm not an EDD plant! 😅 Just sharing my experience
