No letter or card from SDI after 2 weeks - need status update on claim
I filed for disability benefits over two weeks ago and still haven't received any letter or card from them. I'm getting worried because I need an update on my claim status. Has anyone else experienced long delays like this? What should I do next?

Ugh, welcome to the club 🙄 I waited almost a month before I got anything in the mail. The system is so backed up right now, its ridiculous. Have you tried checking your status online?

•Thanks for the reply. I've tried checking online, but it just says my claim is being processed. No other details 😞

•Same boat here. Online status is useless. Feels like were all just left in the dark

•Yeah, the online system is a joke. Might as well be using carrier pigeons at this point 🐦

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep just to talk to someone...

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep checking your online account daily. Sometimes updates appear there before you get mail. 2. Call the disability office first thing in the morning, right when they open. You might have better luck getting through. 3. If you can't reach anyone by phone, try sending a secure message through your online account. 4. Double-check that they have your correct mailing address on file. 5. Be patient (I know it sucks) but sometimes it just takes time for the bureaucracy to churn. If you still don't hear anything after 30 days, you might want to contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes help push things along. Hang in there! 💪

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online check. You never know when you'll need to prove you've been trying to resolve this.

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue and it turned out they had my address wrong by one number. Might be worth double-checking that with them

The whole system is broken af. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get basic info about our claims. Time for some serious reform imho

•Preach! 🙌 It's 2023, why does it feel like we're dealing with tech from 1993?
