SDI benefits delayed 3-4 weeks after submitting docs, no call from EDD. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my disability benefits. I sent in all the required documents about 3 weeks ago, but I haven't received any benefits for the last 3-4 weeks. Yesterday, they were supposed to contact me about my disability claim, but they didn't call and still charged me. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel your pain! 😫 The EDD system is such a mess rn. I went through something similar last month. Have you tried calling them directly? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call for days, but it's impossible to get through. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

•Good idea! Also, try calling on Wednesdays. For some reason, it seems to be less busy then. Good luck, OP! 🍀

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. They only charge if you actually get connected to an agent.

•I used it last week and it worked great. Saved me from pulling my hair out lol 😅

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them, including dates and times. 2. Send a follow-up email or fax (yes, they still use fax 🙄) referencing your previous submission. 3. Contact your local state representative. They often have liaisons who can help push things through. 4. If all else fails, file a formal complaint with the EDD. 5. Consider reaching out to local media if it's been an excessive amount of time. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them ignore you!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: join Facebook groups for EDD claimants. Sometimes they have insider tips or can alert you to system issues.

I'm in the same boat, friend. Been waiting 6 weeks now. This system is beyond broken. 😤

•6 weeks?! That's insane. We really need to push for reform in how these benefits are handled.

•Tell me about it. I'm about ready to camp outside their office until someone helps me 🏕️

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you submitted your documents 3 weeks ago? If not, there's a chance they never received them.

•Now that you mention it, I don't think I did get a confirmation. That's concerning...

•Yep, that might be the issue. Try submitting again and make sure you get a confirmation number or email this time!

Hot take: the whole system is designed to be confusing and difficult on purpose. They hope people will just give up. Don't let them win! 💪

•Preach! 🙌 It's all about saving money for the state, nevermind the people who actually need help.

Hey, former EDD employee here. The backlog is insane right now due to budget cuts and outdated systems. My advice: be polite but firm when you do get through. Ask for a supervisor if the first person can't help. And ALWAYS get a reference number for your call.

•Thank you for the insider perspective! I'll definitely ask for a reference number next time.

•Is there any way to expedite the process? I'm about to lose my apartment because of these delays.

•Unfortunately, there's no official 'expedite' process. But if you're facing eviction, make sure to mention that. It can sometimes bump you up the priority list. Also, look into emergency rental assistance programs in your area.
