EDD Disability claim status after 3 weeks - normal wait time or should I be worried?
Hey everyone, I sent in my disability paperwork to start a claim about 3 weeks ago. Anyone know how long it usually takes to hear back? I'm getting anxious and could really use some advice on what to do next.

3 weeks is a pretty normal wait time, but it doesn't hurt to follow up. When you call, ask for a specific timeline on processing your medical certification. Also, check if they need any additional docs to speed things up. Have you gotten any other communication from them?

ā¢Thanks for the advice! I haven't received anything else from them yet. I'll definitely ask about the timeline and extra docs when I call. Fingers crossed š¤

Pro tip: keep calling everyday. I know it sucks, but persistence pays off. I finally got through after two weeks of daily calls and got my claim processed right away.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

ā¢Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

ā¢How does it work exactly? Do you have to give them your personal info?

ā¢Nah, you just choose which number you want them to call, pay, and they do the rest. When an agent picks up, they connect you. Simple as that.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with disability claims: ⢠First, make sure you've submitted ALL required documents. Missing even one can delay everything. ⢠Keep a log of all your communications with the office. ⢠If you haven't heard back in 4 weeks, definitely call. ⢠Be prepared with your claim number, SSN, and all relevant dates. ⢠Ask specifically about the status of your medical certification - that's often the holdup. ⢠If they say they're missing anything, ask for a fax number and send it right away. ⢠Follow up with another call a week after sending any additional info. ⢠Don't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor if you're not getting clear answers. Remember, persistence is key. Good luck!
