6 weeks since SDI claim submission - no update. Normal wait time?

Hey everyone, I submitted my disability claim about 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. Is this normal? I'm starting to get worried and could really use an update on the status. Has anyone else experienced long wait times like this? Any advice on how to get an update would be greatly appreciated!

I found a way to solve long disability claim wait times, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGFx6l6x4g

Ugh, welcome to the club. 🙄 I've been waiting for 8 weeks now and still radio silence. The system is so broken, it's ridiculous.

8 weeks? That's nothing. I'm going on 12 weeks now. It's like they want us to give up or something.

Seriously? 12 weeks? That's insane! How are we supposed to survive while waiting this long?

idk man, it's a total clown show 🤡 I've been living off savings and credit cards. Not sustainable at all.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me weeks of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

Sure! You choose the department you need, pay, and they start calling. When an agent picks up, your phone rings. No guarantee, but it worked for me on the first try.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with the disability office for years: 1. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 2. Keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and who you spoke with. 3. Have all your paperwork ready when you call. 4. If possible, use their online portal to check for updates. 5. Consider reaching out to your local representative's office for help. 6. Make sure your doctor has submitted all necessary medical evidence. 7. Double-check that your application was filled out correctly. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself!

Great advice! I'd add: if you can, fax your documents instead of mailing. It's faster and you get confirmation.

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative? I've heard that can sometimes speed things up.

0 coins

I did! It actually helped. My claim was processed within 2 weeks after my rep's office got involved.

Really? How do you even find out who your rep is?

0 coins

Just google '[your state] find my representative'. Most have websites where you can submit inquiries.

Pro tip: If you can, apply online. It's usually faster than paper applications. Also, make sure to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important updates end up there.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The system is broken af 😤

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're hoping we'll just give up.

Totally agree. We need to start making some noise about this. Maybe a petition or something?

Quick question - did you submit any additional medical evidence after your initial application? Sometimes that can cause delays while they review the new info.

No, I haven't submitted anything new. Should I? I'm worried it might reset the clock on my claim.

If it's relevant and supports your claim, it's usually worth submitting. But yeah, it can slow things down a bit. Tough call.
