ESD claim filed by phone still showing as 'to file' in online account - is there a system delay?

I'm feeling really confused about my weekly claim status. I called in my weekly claim this morning around 8:30am using the phone system (since it's always worked fine for me), and everything seemed normal. The automated system confirmed my claim was received at the end. But when I logged into my eServices account just now (around 2pm), it's still showing that I have a weekly claim to file! Last week I filed by phone with zero issues and my online account updated within an hour. Is there some kind of system delay happening today? Has anyone else experienced this lag between phone filing and online updates? I'm worried my claim didn't actually go through and I'll miss my filing window.

Don't panic yet! The ESD systems don't always sync immediately. There's often a lag of several hours between when you file by phone and when the online system updates - especially on Mondays when they're processing tons of weekly claims. I'd give it until tomorrow morning before worrying. If it still shows as unfiled tomorrow, then call ESD.

Thank you so much! That's a relief to hear. I'll check again tomorrow morning and hope it updates by then.

This exact thing happened to me last month and it caused me SO MUCH STRESS!!! I filed by phone on Monday morning and my online account didn't update until WEDNESDAY!!! When I called ESD (after trying for 3 days) they said there was a 'system backup' or something but my claim HAD been received even though the website didn't show it. They told me always trust the confirmation number from the phone system over what the website shows.

omg thats crazy! the phone and website should show the same thing. ESD needs to get their act together

That's really good to know! I did get a confirmation number at the end of the phone call, and I wrote it down just in case. I'll definitely hold onto that.

I had almost the same problem but when I called back with my confirmation # they couldnt find my claim at all! Turns out I accidentally filed on my old claim instead of my new one. Do you have multiple claims in the system? Maybe double check which claim you filed for on the phone?

I only have one active claim right now, so I don't think that's the issue. But thanks for mentioning it - that could definitely cause problems for people with multiple claims!

This is a common issue with ESD's systems. The phone system and online portal operate on separate databases that sync periodically rather than in real-time. In my experience working with several clients, here's what you need to know:\n\n1. Phone claims are considered filed as soon as you get the confirmation number\n2. The online system typically updates overnight (around 3-4am)\n3. Monday filings sometimes take longer to sync because of high volume\n4. Always keep your confirmation number from phone filings\n\nAs long as you received a confirmation number when filing by phone, your claim is officially submitted regardless of what the online portal shows. If it doesn't update by tomorrow afternoon, you can call ESD to verify, but there's no need to file again online as that could potentially create a duplicate claim issue.

This is super helpful information, thank you! I did get and save my confirmation number, so I'll trust that and wait until tomorrow afternoon before taking any further action.

If you're really worried and need to talk to someone at ESD to confirm your claim went through, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation last month and spent DAYS trying to get through to ESD with no luck. A friend told me about this service that helps you skip the hold times. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Basically they hold your place in line and call you when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of frustration when I needed to verify my claim status.

is this legit? seems sketchy to use a service to call unemployment

It's totally legit. They don't access your claim or anything, they just help connect the call. I was skeptical too but it worked really well for me.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep that in mind if my claim status doesn't update tomorrow. Spending hours on hold is definitely something I'd like to avoid.

i think theres a big system update happening this week at ESD. the guy who helped me yesterday mentioned something about maintenance that might cause delays in processing. not sure if thats related to ur issue but might explain the lag

That could definitely explain it! I hadn't heard about any system updates, but that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing that info.

UPDATE: My status finally changed to

Thank you for the update! That's a relief to hear it eventually updated for you. I might switch to online filing too if this keeps happening. I just got used to the phone system and it's been reliable until now.

everybody has different experiences with ESD lol. phone filing never works right for me but online is instant. but my neighbor says online never works for him and phone is better! i think it depends what browser you use and stuff

This is actually correct. The online system works best with Chrome and Edge. If you're using Safari or Firefox, you might encounter more sync issues. The phone system is more consistent but the tradeoff is the delay in database updates.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my claim finally updated to 'submitted' in the online system! It took about 20 hours, but at least now I know everything is working correctly. Thanks to everyone for the reassurance and helpful information. I'll definitely keep filing by phone since it works for me, but now I know not to panic if the online status doesn't update right away.
