Weekly claim disappeared after filing by phone (IVR) - do I need to file again?

Really confused and worried right now! I usually file my weekly claim online, but my internet was down yesterday so I used the phone system (IVR) for the first time. This afternoon it was showing as "Processing-IVR" in my eServices account, which I figured was normal. But I just checked again and now there's NO record of my claim and the system is telling me I have a weekly claim to file! Did I do something wrong with the phone system? Should I file again online or will that mess things up? Has anyone else had their claim disappear after using the phone system? I don't want to miss this week's payment!

dont file again!! this happened to me 2 times when i used the phone. the system is glitchy and sometimes takes 24 hrs to update properly. if u file again it will flag ur account for possible fraud and could delay payment for weeks

Oh no! Thanks for the warning. I'll wait then. Do you remember how long it took before your claim showed up properly in the system?

This is actually a known issue with the ESD system. When you file by phone (IVR), there's sometimes a processing delay where it temporarily shows as filed, then disappears from your account, then reappears as properly filed within 24-48 hours. As the previous commenter correctly said, do NOT file again as this will trigger a potential fraud investigation. If you want to verify that your claim was received, look at your claim history - there should be an entry showing the phone filing even if the main dashboard doesn't show it yet. If after 48 hours it still shows nothing, then you should contact ESD directly.

Thank you so much for explaining! I just checked my claim history and you're right - there IS an entry there for yesterday, even though the dashboard is telling me to file. What a relief! I'll give it until tomorrow to sort itself out.

The ESD phone system is GARBAGE!! I used it once last year and my payment was delayed by 3 weeks! Then they blamed ME for the problem! The whole unemployment system in this state is designed to make you fail.

Same. Every time I've tried using the phone system something goes wrong. I drive 30 minutes to the library just to use their computers rather than deal with that nightmare again.

Not yet! Still showing that I need to file even though my claim history shows I filed yesterday. I'm going to wait until tomorrow afternoon before panicking. I'll update here when it changes!

I work with ESD claimants regularly, and this is indeed a common issue with the phone filing system. Here's what's happening: When you file by phone, the IVR system processes your claim separately from the web system. During this processing period, the two systems are temporarily out of sync. Some technical advice: 1. Check your claim status by phone (using the same IVR system) - sometimes it shows correctly there even when the website doesn't 2. Wait 48 hours for the systems to sync properly 3. Check your payment history, not just the claim status page 4. If it doesn't resolve after 48 hours, you'll need to speak with an ESD agent Never file twice for the same week as it will immediately flag your account for review.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I'll check the status by phone as well. This is so stressful - I rely on these payments for rent and groceries so any delay makes me really anxious.

If you need to speak with an ESD agent about this issue and can't get through on the regular line, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was dealing with a similar IVR processing issue last month and couldn't get past the busy signals for days. Claimyr got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to confirm my claim was in the system despite the website saying otherwise.

Does that service actually work? I've been trying to get through to ESD for 3 days now with no luck.

It worked for me twice now. Both times I got through to an agent when I couldn't on my own after days of trying. Worth it when you're desperate to talk to someone.

UPDATE: My claim finally showed up correctly in the system! It took about 36 hours from when I filed by phone. The dashboard no longer shows that I need to file, and instead shows my claim as being processed. Thanks everyone for your help and preventing me from filing twice!

Great news! This is the typical timeline for IVR claims to fully process. For future reference, the online system is generally more reliable and updates faster, but it's good to know the phone system works as a backup option when needed.

wait so we're supposed to file online each week? i thought we only had to file once at the beginning? is that why my payments stopped????

Yes, you need to file a claim EVERY week you want to receive benefits, either online or by phone. This is the weekly "certification" process that confirms you're still eligible. If you haven't been doing this, that's definitely why your payments stopped. You should log in immediately and see if you can file for any missed weeks (there's a limited window to file for previous weeks).
