Weekly claim phone confirmation but ESD online system still asking me to file - which is correct?
I'm totally confused about my weekly claim status. I called the automated phone system this morning to file my weekly claim (I prefer the phone since the website was glitchy for me before). The system confirmed my claim was accepted and gave me a confirmation number. But when I logged into my eServices account just now to check when I might get paid, it's telling me I still need to file my weekly claim! Has anyone experienced this disconnect between the phone system and the website? Should I trust the phone confirmation, or do I need to file again online? I really don't want to accidentally file twice and get flagged for fraud or something. It's been 6 weeks since I got laid off from my healthcare admin job and I can't afford any payment delays.

This happened to me last month! The phone system accepted my claim but the website didn't update for almost 24 hours. I freaked out and almost filed again online (thank god I didn't). Just give it until tomorrow morning - the systems don't sync immediately. You can check your claim status under the

Oh thank you!! That's a huge relief. I didn't even think to check the weekly summary tab. I'll wait until tomorrow before panicking again. Did your payment still come on time even with the delay in the system updating?

The phone system and eServices website sometimes have synchronization delays. This is completely normal and nothing to worry about. The ESD database typically updates overnight, so your online account should reflect your submitted claim by tomorrow. The confirmation number you received via phone is your proof that the claim was successfully filed. NEVER file twice for the same week as this will definitely trigger a fraud investigation.\n\nIf you want to double-check, you can go to your

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I'll definitely check the Claims History section. I was so worried I'd done something wrong or that my claim wouldn't be processed properly. The last thing I need is a fraud investigation!

I had the EXACT same thing three weeks ago and let me tell you what happened - I filed again online because I didn't trust the phone system and IT COMPLETELY MESSED UP MY CLAIM!! I ended up with an

Oh no, that sounds like a nightmare! I definitely won't file again online. I'll just be patient and wait for the systems to sync up. Two weeks delay would be devastating right now.

How did you finally get through to someone? I've been trying for days and either get disconnected or told the queue is full.

@user8 I used a service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending all day redialing. It basically waits on hold for you then calls you when an agent picks up. Was totally worth it after wasting hours trying to get through myself. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Saved my sanity during that whole mess.

This is a common issue with ESD's systems. Here's what's happening technically: The phone system and the web portal actually connect to two different databases that are synchronized periodically (usually overnight). When you file by phone, that database updates immediately, but the web portal database won't reflect your filing until after the next sync cycle.\n\nAs others have said, NEVER file twice. The confirmation number from the phone system is your proof that the claim was successfully received. If the website still shows you need to file after 24 hours, then you should contact ESD, but this is rarely necessary.\n\nPro tip: Always write down your confirmation numbers and keep a log of when you filed each week. This documentation can save you if there's ever a dispute about whether you filed on time.

Thanks for explaining the technical side of things! I had no idea they used different databases - that makes so much sense now. I'll definitely start keeping better records of my confirmation numbers. I've been taking screenshots but haven't been writing down the numbers from the phone system.

When I started claiming unemployment in 2025 I had this problem ALL THE TIME! The ESD website is so frustrating. One time I actually DID file twice because I thought the phone system didn't work and I ended up with my claim getting flagged and had to go through adjudication which took forever. Now I just use one method consistently (I stick with the website) and avoid using both systems. Pick one and stick with it!

That's good advice. I think I'll stick with the phone system since it seems more reliable for me. My internet connection isn't great which is why I started using the phone in the first place.

the esd systems are terrible lol. half the time the website says one thing and reality is another. as long as you got your confirmation # you're fine. just screenshot everything for when they inevitably mess something up later

Has anyone else noticed that the eServies website is especially glitchy on Mondays? I wonder if that's because so many people are filing their weekly claims at the same time and overloading the system. I've started filing mine on Tuesdays and have fewer problems.

Definitely! Monday mornings are the WORST for the website. Sometimes I can't even log in at all.

Just to follow up - did your online account update to show the claim was filed? Usually it should reflect the correct status by the next business day. If not, you might want to call ESD to verify everything is in order.

Yes! The website updated overnight just like you all said it would. The claim now shows as processed and the payment is pending. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for the help and keeping me from making a huge mistake by filing twice.
