ESD weekly claim call suddenly disconnected after last question - Did it still process?
So weird. I filed my weekly claim by phone just now and something bizarre happened. Usually after answering the last question, the system tells me my claim has been accepted and gives me that confirmation number. But this time, it just disconnected right after I answered the final question! No confirmation, nothing. When I called back immediately, the automated system isn't giving me the option to file a weekly claim anymore. Has anyone experienced this? Does this mean my claim actually went through despite not getting confirmation? I'm freaking out because I can't afford any delays in my benefits right now.

I had this EXACT thing happen to me in February! It's super stressful but don't panic yet. Check your eServices account online tomorrow morning - if your claim processed correctly, you'll see the new weekly claim listed under \

Thanks for the reassurance! I'll check my eServices account first thing tomorrow. Do you remember how long it took for yours to show up online after this happened?

This happens because of an automatic timeout in their phone system. The good news is that in most cases, your claim DID go through if you answered all the questions. Since you can't file again, that's actually a positive sign. I recommend waiting 24 hours and then checking your online account - look for the week's claim in your history. If you don't see it by tomorrow afternoon, you should contact ESD directly.

Not always true. When this happened to me last year, my claim didn't process at all and I lost a week of benefits because I waited too long to follow up! OP should call ESD tomorrow morning first thing to confirm it went through correctly. Don't just assume it's fine or you might end up with no payment.

That's a fair point. I should have mentioned that if you're concerned and can't verify through eServices, calling ESD is definitely the safest option. My experience was different, but better safe than sorry!

I had this happen during a big thunderstorm last month and had a mini heart attack too! I tried logging into eServices right away but nothing showed up. I panicked and kept calling back but got nowhere. The next morning my claim appeared in the system. The ESD rep later told me that the system processes all claims overnight, even incomplete ones, and it tries to match up the answers you've given with your claim ID. So chances are good it processed correctly if you got through most of the questions. Check your account tomorrow morning!

That's a relief to hear! I'll definitely check first thing tomorrow. The timing is so bad too - rent is due next week and I'm already cutting it close. Really hoping it went through!

Quick question - did you happen to hesitate or take longer than usual to answer the final question? Sometimes the system has a timeout feature if you take too long to respond, and it might hang up but still process your answers. This happened to my sister once.

No, I answered everything pretty quickly. It literally disconnected immediately after I pressed the button for my final answer. That's what made it so weird - it felt like it cut off mid-processing.

If you want to avoid the stress of wondering whether your claim went through, try using Claimyr to get connected with an ESD agent directly. I used them after having issues with my weekly claim not processing correctly, and they got me through to someone who could verify my claim status immediately. Their video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and you can find them at claimyr.com. Much better than waiting anxiously for the system to maybe update.

I've heard about this service but wasn't sure if it actually worked. Have you personally used it? Was it easy to navigate?

Yes, I've used it twice now. First time when my adjudication was taking forever, and again when I had this same disconnection issue as OP. Both times I got through to an actual ESD agent within an hour instead of spending days trying to get through the regular phone line. Super straightforward to use.

This is exactly why I switched to filing online instead of by phone. The phone system is notoriously unreliable. I'd recommend checking your eServices account tomorrow morning, and if you don't see your weekly claim listed there by noon, you should immediately try to contact ESD. \n\nOne important thing: if you need to contact them and your claim truly didn't go through, make sure to explain that you DID attempt to file on time but experienced a system error. They can sometimes make exceptions for technical issues on their end, but you need to document your attempts carefully.

I normally do file online! My internet was down yesterday so I had to use the phone system as a backup. Lesson learned. I'll definitely document everything carefully in case I need to explain what happened.

UPDATE: Did your claim end up processing correctly? It would be helpful for others to know what happened in your situation.
