ESD system keeps showing weekly claim to file after already filing by phone - double filing issue?
I've been filing my weekly unemployment claims by phone for the past month because the website was acting up when I first tried to use it. Now every time I log into my eServices account, it still shows that I have a weekly claim waiting to be filed, even though I ALREADY filed it over the phone! This happens literally every single week and I'm getting paranoid that maybe my phone claims aren't going through? But I'm still getting paid, so clearly something is working. I'm worried about accidentally filing twice and then getting hit with an overpayment notice. Has anyone else who files by phone experienced this glitch in the system? Is it safe to ignore the website notification?

•Oh thank god it's not just me! Do you think ESD knows about this problem? I'm just paranoid they'll suddenly decide I'm doing something wrong.

This is a known issue with ESD's system integration between their phone system and website. The eServices portal doesn't always recognize claims filed through the automated phone system. You're doing everything correctly! As long as you're receiving your payments, you can safely ignore the website notification. Just make sure you're only filing once (either by phone OR website each week), and keep track of your claim dates and confirmation numbers when filing by phone just to be safe.

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! I called the ESD helpline about it and surprise surprise couldn't get through to a real person after waiting 2 HOURS!!! It's so frustrating that their systems don't talk to each other properly. I've been taking screenshots of my phone confirmation numbers and the website claim notification just in case they try to claim I didn't file. The ESD system is full of these little technical glitches that make everything more stressful than it needs to be!!!!

•If you need to reach an ESD agent about this (or any other issues), I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It helped me get through to ESD when I had a similar system issue with my account showing incorrect information. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 or check out their website at claimyr.com. Saved me hours of frustration when I was dealing with glitches in my claim status.

I had this issue back in February and called the technical support line (not the regular ESD line). The tech told me it's because the phone system and web system are basically separate and don't fully sync up. As long as you're not filing twice, you're good. Just pick one method and stick with it. I switched to only using the website because it gives me peace of mind seeing my claim actually marked as completed in the system.

•That makes sense! I might switch to the website too just for that peace of mind. I've been screenshot-ing everything just to be safe. Thanks for explaining that!

This is actually a bigger problem than most realize. I file by phone too and had the same issue, but one week I decided to file online AFTER already filing by phone (because the system kept prompting me). Big mistake! Got an overpayment notice a month later because the system counted it as two separate claims for the same week. Had to go through the whole appeals process to fix it. My advice: pick ONE method and stick with it, and definitely ignore the prompt if you've already filed by phone.

•I might do that. Just worried about changing anything since the payments are coming through correctly now. Don't want to mess with what's working, you know?

Just to clarify one important point for anyone reading this thread: if you receive an overpayment notice because of accidentally filing twice, you should immediately file an appeal and explain the situation. The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) often rules in the claimant's favor in these technical error cases IF you can document that you were confused by ESD's own system prompts. Keep records of all your filing confirmations, screenshots of misleading prompts, and dates when you filed. This will help tremendously if you need to appeal.

•Thank you for that advice! I've been taking screenshots of everything just in case something goes wrong. It's so stressful dealing with these technical glitches when your benefits are on the line.
