When i made a mistake on my hours last fall i had to call like 30 times and finally got through. the lady was super nice and fixed it right away but said next time i should contact my employer and have THEM report the correction becuase it's way faster that way. might be worth asking your employer if they can verify the correct hours to ESD directly. worth a try maybe?
Just to clarify one important point - if you reported MORE hours than you actually worked (32 vs 23), this might actually be working in your favor temporarily since you'd receive less benefits than you're entitled to. The real problem comes when you report fewer hours than you worked, as that can trigger fraud investigations. Either way, it needs to be corrected, but you're not likely facing a fraud issue here - just a bureaucratic delay. Keep trying the phone routes suggested here, and document all your attempts to contact them as proof you're trying to fix this in good faith.
Update on current ESD login issues: There's an official notice on the ESD website now about intermittent login problems affecting some accounts. They're working on it, but no estimated fix date has been provided. In the meantime, if you absolutely can't get in and need to file your weekly claim, you can request a backdate for your weekly claim by calling and leaving a message explaining the technical issues prevented timely filing. Be sure to document all your attempts to log in (screenshots of error messages with dates/times) as evidence if needed later.
Success!! I just got back into my account! For anyone with similar problems, here's what worked: 1. Waited full 24 hours after lockout 2. Used Firefox instead of Chrome 3. Cleared ALL browser data 4. Logged into SAW first (secureaccess.wa.gov) 5. Typed password manually instead of autofill Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Now I can finally file my weekly claim!
Don't forget while you're waiting you should be applying for other assistance if you need it. Food banks, energy assistance, rental assistance etc. No shame in using resources that are there to help during these situations. We had to use food banks during my adjudication period and it made a huge difference.
One last thing - make sure he checks his ESD portal regularly during the standby period. Sometimes they'll post messages there requesting additional information without sending an email notification. It's a common reason people miss important communications, especially during short layoffs.
oh and tell him not 2 forget to file for the second week even if hes back at work by then!! u still claim for partial weeks if he goes back before the week ends

•I might do that. Just worried about changing anything since the payments are coming through correctly now. Don't want to mess with what's working, you know?

Just to clarify one important point for anyone reading this thread: if you receive an overpayment notice because of accidentally filing twice, you should immediately file an appeal and explain the situation. The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) often rules in the claimant's favor in these technical error cases IF you can document that you were confused by ESD's own system prompts. Keep records of all your filing confirmations, screenshots of misleading prompts, and dates when you filed. This will help tremendously if you need to appeal.

•Thank you for that advice! I've been taking screenshots of everything just in case something goes wrong. It's so stressful dealing with these technical glitches when your benefits are on the line.
