ESD ghosting me after claim correction request - 3 weeks no response

I messed up entering my hours on my weekly claim from April 2-8 (put 32 hours when I actually worked 23). Realized my mistake immediately after submitting and sent a message through eServices explaining the error. It's been THREE WEEKS with absolutely zero response! I've called the ESD number at least 15 times and either get disconnected or stuck on hold until the system kicks me off after 2 hours. I'm honestly worried they'll flag this as fraud or something when it was just a stupid typing error. Has anyone successfully gotten ESD to correct a claim mistake? How long does it typically take them to respond to messages? I'm starting to panic because my benefits have been on hold since I sent that message.

omg classic ESD... they NEVER answer messages. i waited 6 weeks last yr for them to respond about a similar issue and ended up having to go thru my state rep to get help

6 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! Did your benefits stay on hold that whole time??

You need to keep trying to reach them by phone. The messaging system is extremely backlogged right now. When you call, try at exactly 8:00 AM when they open or between 3:30-4:00 PM when call volume sometimes drops. Be prepared with your claim ID, SSN, and exact dates of the mistake. They can fix this fairly easily once you actually reach someone, but getting through is the hard part. The key issue here is that this could potentially trigger an overpayment notice if left uncorrected, especially since you reported more hours than you actually worked.

Thanks for the timing tip - I've been trying mid-morning which is probably the worst time. I'm worried about the overpayment issue too. Do you know if correcting hours creates an adjudication issue, or can they just fix it?

I had almost the exact same thing happen in February! So frustrating. I entered 15 hours when I meant to put 51 (dyslexia ftw lol). Took me forever to get thru to a human but once I did they fixed it in like 5 mins. They should be able to see from your work history that it was just a mistake.

That's encouraging to hear they fixed it quickly once you reached someone. How long did it take for your benefits to start again after the correction?

Try Claimyr if you keep having trouble getting through. It helped me finally reach an ESD agent after weeks of failed calling attempts. Their system basically holds your place in line and calls you back when it's your turn. I was skeptical at first but it worked for me when I had an adjudication issue. You can see how it works in their demo video here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Their site is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

I've never heard of this. Has anyone else used it? I'm desperate at this point so willing to try anything that might work.

I used Claimyr twice last year during my standby status issues. It works as advertised - definitely helped me get through when I couldn't otherwise. The ESD phone system is broken by design, I swear.

CALL THEM FIRST THING IN THE MORNING!!!! The phone system is GARBAGE after about 8:15am. I've worked in call centers before and the first 15 minutes after opening is your golden window. Also, have you checked your ESD account online? Sometimes they make corrections without actually notifying you. Check the "decisions" section in your account.

I'll try the early morning call tomorrow. And yes, I've been checking my account daily - no updates in the decisions section or anywhere else. It's still showing my claim as "pending" with the incorrect hours.

When i made a mistake on my hours last fall i had to call like 30 times and finally got through. the lady was super nice and fixed it right away but said next time i should contact my employer and have THEM report the correction becuase it's way faster that way. might be worth asking your employer if they can verify the correct hours to ESD directly. worth a try maybe?

That's a great idea I hadn't thought of! I'm on good terms with my employer so I'll reach out to our HR department tomorrow and see if they can help. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just to clarify one important point - if you reported MORE hours than you actually worked (32 vs 23), this might actually be working in your favor temporarily since you'd receive less benefits than you're entitled to. The real problem comes when you report fewer hours than you worked, as that can trigger fraud investigations. Either way, it needs to be corrected, but you're not likely facing a fraud issue here - just a bureaucratic delay. Keep trying the phone routes suggested here, and document all your attempts to contact them as proof you're trying to fix this in good faith.

That's a relief to hear! I've been documenting everything (dates/times of calls, screenshots of submitted messages, etc). I'll keep trying the phone while also reaching out to my employer as suggested. Thanks everyone for the helpful advice!
