Can I correct my reported work hours after filing weekly claim to get more benefits?
I messed up while filing my partial unemployment claim last week and now I'm worried I've lost money! When I was filing my weekly claim, I didn't have my exact timesheet in front of me and overestimated my hours. I reported working 24 hours but my actual timesheet shows I only worked 18 hours. That's a 6-hour difference! Now my benefit payment is way less than it should be because ESD thinks I worked more than I actually did. Is there any way to correct this mistake after the claim has been processed? Can I call ESD and ask them to adjust my reported hours so I can get the full benefit amount I'm entitled to? Or am I just out of luck for that week? I'm really tight on money right now and those extra benefits would make a huge difference.

Yes, you CAN fix this! It's called a benefit week adjustment. You need to contact ESD directly to explain the situation and request the correction to your reported hours. They can adjust your benefit amount for that week once you provide documentation (like your timesheet) showing your actual hours worked. Don't wait though - the sooner you contact them about the mistake, the easier it is to fix. And make sure you have your timesheet or some other proof of your actual hours ready when you call.

•Thank you so much! Do you know how long the adjustment might take? Will I get the additional money in my next payment or is it a separate deposit?

•I had the SAME EXACT ISSUE last month!!! Reported 32 hours but only worked 26. Called for TWO WEEKS straight and couldn't get through. Kept getting the "high call volume" message and then it would just hang up on me. ESD phone system is BROKEN!!! So frustrating when you just need to fix one simple thing!!!

Have you tried messaging them through your eServices account? Sometimes that works faster than calling.

•I didn't know you could message them directly! I'll try that right now, thanks for the tip.

I experienced something similar and eventually got it resolved. Here's what worked for me: 1. Submit a message through eServices explaining the error with exact details (dates, correct hours, etc.) 2. Upload your timesheet or paystub as proof in the same message 3. If you don't hear back within 5-7 business days, then you should call When I finally reached an agent, they made the adjustment right away and I received the additional benefits within 48 hours as a separate deposit. The key is providing clear documentation of your actual hours worked. One more thing - when filing future weekly claims, always have your exact hours ready before starting the process! I now keep a little notebook where I write down my exact hours each day so I never make this mistake again.

•Thank you for the detailed advice! I just submitted a message through eServices with my timesheet attached. Fingers crossed they respond quickly. And you're right - I'm definitely going to be more careful tracking my hours from now on!

If messaging through eServices doesn't work, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent. I was in the exact same situation - reported 30 hours but only worked 22. Wasted days trying to call ESD directly with no luck. Someone here recommended Claimyr and I got through to an agent in about 20 minutes. They fixed my hours and I got the missing benefits within 3 days. Check out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Saved me so much frustration!

•is that service legit? seems weird to use a third party just to make a phone call

•It's completely legitimate. All they do is navigate the phone system and get you in the call queue, then connect you directly with ESD. You're still talking to actual ESD agents. I was skeptical too but it worked perfectly and saved me days of frustration.

Quick update on timeframes - benefit week adjustments typically take 7-10 business days to process once approved. The additional money will come as a separate deposit. Make sure you check both your eServices account and bank account, as sometimes the online status takes a day or two to update after the deposit is made.

•Yes! Finally got it resolved yesterday. I ended up using Claimyr to reach an ESD agent after my eServices message went unanswered for a week. The agent was able to adjust my hours right away after seeing my timesheet. The additional benefit amount ($218) was deposited this morning! Such a relief.

This happened to my brother too but in reverse - he accidentally reported FEWER hours than he actually worked. ESD flagged it as potential fraud and he had to do a fact-finding interview! So definitely important to be accurate with those weekly claims.
