ESD account locked out - no PIN received and zero phone support

I'm at my wit's end with the ESD website. Been trying to log in all week with what I KNOW is the correct username/password combo. The system keeps saying my credentials don't match. Today I got desperate and tried the mobile verification option, but never received any PIN text. Now I'm completely locked out for 24 hours according to the error message! I've called the support line literally 17 times this week. Either get disconnected immediately or sit on hold until the automated system announces they're 'too busy' and hangs up. Left THREE messages for callback and crickets. How am I supposed to file my weekly claim if I can't access my account and no one will help me? The deadline is Sunday and I can't afford to miss a payment. Is this how a government agency is supposed to function? Anyone know any secret ways to actually talk to a human being at ESD?

This exact thing happened to me last month. The mobile PIN system is completely broken right now - I waited 3 hours for a PIN that never came. Here's what finally worked for me: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies completely 2. Try using a different browser altogether (Firefox worked when Chrome failed for me) 3. Make sure you're logging into SAW (SecureAccess Washington) first, not directly to ESD 4. If you have ANY special characters in your password, try resetting it to something simpler Also, don't keep trying multiple times in one day - that just extends the lockout period. Wait the full 24 hours before attempting again.

Thanks for these tips! I'll definitely try a different browser. I've been using Chrome so maybe Firefox will work better. Didn't realize the mobile PIN system was having issues. Should've checked here first before making things worse.

Same!! I've missed TWO claim weeks because of login problems. Still fighting to get backpay. The whole system seems designed to make you give up.

I had the exact same issue last week and freaked out because my rent was due. Have you tried accessing the site during off-hours? I found that logging in at like 5:30am worked when afternoon attempts failed. Their servers must get overloaded during peak hours. Also, I don't know if this matters, but my account locked after using autofill for my password. When I manually typed everything it finally worked.

I haven't tried early morning yet - that's a good suggestion! And I was definitely using autofill so maybe that's part of the problem. Will try manual entry after the lockout period ends. Thanks!

I actually found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an ESD agent when I was in a similar situation. I was skeptical at first, but they got me connected to an actual person at ESD in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video demo of how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I spoke with was able to unlock my account immediately. Apparently there's been a recent system update that's causing these login issues for a lot of people. The website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

I've heard about this service from several people now. Did they explain exactly what was causing your login issues? I'm curious what's behind all these account lockouts happening recently.

Yes, the ESD agent told me their SAW integration had a security update in February that's been causing authentication problems. Apparently if you've had your account for over 18 months, something about stored credentials can conflict with the new system. She reset something on their end that fixed it immediately.

Hi there, just to clarify some technical aspects of what might be happening: 1. The ESD system interfaces with SecureAccess Washington (SAW), so login problems can originate in either system 2. Account lockouts typically happen after 5 failed attempts and release automatically after 24 hours 3. The mobile verification system requires your phone number to be already registered in your profile - it won't work with a new number 4. If you're approaching claim deadline, you can request a deadline extension if your inability to file was due to technical issues on their end As a backup option, you can also file your weekly claim by phone using the automated system at 800-318-6022. You won't need to log in online for that.

Thank you for explaining all of this! I didn't know about the phone option for weekly claims - that's a huge relief. Will that still work even if my online account is locked?

Yes, the phone system for weekly claims operates independently from the online account system. You'll need your SSN and the PIN you set up specifically for the phone system (not the same as your online account password). If you haven't created a phone PIN before, you might need to speak with an agent first to set that up.

this happened to me back in january and i just gave up after two weeks of trying. reapplied and started my claim over. total nightmare. sometimes i think they do this on purpose to save money by making it so hard people quit trying

That's awful you had to start over! I really hope I don't have to do that. I'm already 6 weeks into my benefit year.

Update on current ESD login issues: There's an official notice on the ESD website now about intermittent login problems affecting some accounts. They're working on it, but no estimated fix date has been provided. In the meantime, if you absolutely can't get in and need to file your weekly claim, you can request a backdate for your weekly claim by calling and leaving a message explaining the technical issues prevented timely filing. Be sure to document all your attempts to log in (screenshots of error messages with dates/times) as evidence if needed later.

Thanks for this update! I'll start taking screenshots of the error messages. Just tried calling again and still can't get through, but at least there's a way to backdate the claim if needed. Really appreciate everyone's help!

Success!! I just got back into my account! For anyone with similar problems, here's what worked: 1. Waited full 24 hours after lockout 2. Used Firefox instead of Chrome 3. Cleared ALL browser data 4. Logged into SAW first (secureaccess.wa.gov) 5. Typed password manually instead of autofill Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Now I can finally file my weekly claim!

Great news! Glad you got back in. Make sure to update your contact information while you're in there, and maybe change your password to something completely new just to be safe.
