No payment received despite ESD showing 'paid' status - can't get through high call volume
I'm seriously at my wits end with this ESD nightmare. My online account clearly shows my weekly claims as 'paid' for the last 2 weeks, with payment dates and everything, but absolutely NOTHING has hit my bank account. I've been calling every single day - early morning (7:01am), mid-day, afternoon, you name it. Every single time I get the same automated message about 'high call volume' and then it just disconnects me! I've sent 3 messages through eServices but radio silence. Has anyone actually managed to get through to a real person recently? This is getting desperate as I've got rent due next week and was counting on this money. What am I supposed to do when the system says it paid me but I got nothing??

check ur bank info on the esdwa site maybe? i had something similar happen and realized i had entered my routing # wrong when i first filed. also sometimes it takes an extra 3-4 days to actually show up in ur account even tho esd says its paid

•Just double-checked and all my bank info is correct. It's been 8 days since the first 'payment date' so it should definitely have shown up by now if it was just a delay :

I had this exact issue last month. What's probably happening is that your payment is on hold for an identity verification issue, even though the system is showing it as paid. This is a known glitch in their system right now. Unfortunately, you DO need to speak with an actual person to get it fixed. Try calling right when they open at 7:00am, but instead of using the main unemployment line, use the claims center number: 800-318-6022. Select option 1, then 1 again, then wait for an agent. If you get the high call volume message, hang up and try again immediately. Sometimes it takes 10-15 attempts back to back, but eventually you'll get in the queue. If that doesn't work after a few days, you might want to try contacting your state representative's office. They often have dedicated liaisons with ESD who can escalate your case.

•Thank you so much for these tips! I'll definitely try that specific number and sequence tomorrow morning. I never thought about contacting my state rep - that's a really good backup plan if I still can't get through after a few more days of trying.

THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO FAIL. They make it IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone because they DON'T WANT TO PAY YOU. I spent FIVE WEEKS trying to get through about my missing payments and guess what? When I finally got someone they said "oops our mistake" and fixed it in 2 minutes. They're hoping people just give up!!!

•While I understand your frustration, I don't think it's intentionally designed to fail. The ESD system is just overwhelmed and understaffed. When benefits show as paid but aren't received, it's usually due to one of three issues: 1) Bank information errors, 2) Payment intercepts for things like child support, or 3) Identity verification holds. These are fixable problems, though getting through is certainly challenging.

I was in this exact situation back in January. After a week of failed calls, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an ESD agent within 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Turns out my payment was flagged for "unusual banking activity" because I had recently changed my direct deposit info (totally normal thing to do!). The agent cleared it immediately and my funds arrived the next day. Honestly, after two weeks of constant calling and getting nowhere, it was worth it to finally talk to someone who could actually fix my issue.

•It definitely worked for me! I was super hesitant too, but after two weeks of getting nowhere I was desperate. They basically just keep dialing for you and then connect you when they get through. The ESD agent I spoke with fixed my issue in about 5 minutes.

So frustrating!!! i had this happen and it was because i answered a question wrong on my weekly claim (the job search one) even though the system showed paid. it was actually on hold. the stupid thing is they never tell you!! had to talk to a person to figure it out. keep trying different times. i got through at 3:30pm on a thursday randomly when i'd been trying for days.

I've worked with many clients having this exact issue recently. Here's what I recommend: 1. First, verify all payment information is correct in your account (which you've done) 2. Next, check if there are any alert messages in your eServices account indicating an issue (sometimes these appear in a separate section from your claims status) 3. Look at your weekly claims - are there any weeks showing as "pending" or with a status other than "paid"? If everything appears normal, then it's likely one of these behind-the-scenes issues: - A payment hold that isn't displaying properly in the system - An identity verification flag - A quarterly review that triggered automatically Unfortunately, all of these require speaking with an agent. As others suggested, try calling at exactly 7:00am, using the specific sequence of menu options, and be prepared to call repeatedly. Another option is to visit your local WorkSource office in person - sometimes they can help you connect with ESD. If none of that works within 3-4 more days, I'd recommend both contacting your state representative AND filing a formal complaint through the ESD website (there's a specific complaint form).

•Thank you for these detailed steps! I've checked my eServices account thoroughly and don't see any alerts or pending statuses - everything looks totally normal except for the missing money. I'll try the 7am calls for the next few days, then escalate to WorkSource visit + complaint form if needed. Really appreciate the guidance!

this happened to my roomate! turned out hed been approved but then they randomly decided to put him in adjudication (whatever that is) but the system still said paid. he had to send in like his ID and social security card and stuff. took forever. but yeah the call thing is impossible, he never got thru.

•Adjudication is when they need to review some aspect of your claim manually. It's common for the system to show payments as processed even when they're actually on hold pending adjudication. This is exactly why speaking with an agent is so important - they can see what's actually happening behind the scenes.

UPDATE: Finally got through this morning!!! Called the claims center number that @practical_solution suggested at exactly 7:00am and got the high volume message 6 times in a row, but on the 7th try I actually got placed in a queue! Waited for 47 minutes but finally spoke to a very helpful agent named Marcus. Turns out my payments were on hold because of a "quarterly review" flag that happened automatically due to some previous W2 wages. The ridiculous part is that there was NOTHING in my online account showing this hold - it all looked perfectly normal and said "paid"! Marcus removed the hold and said my payments should arrive within 48 hours. He also said this is a "known issue" with their system right now where holds don't display properly online. So frustrating but at least it's fixed now. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Great to hear! Those quarterly reviews can be so frustrating, especially when they don't even show up as an issue in your account. Glad you were able to get through and get it resolved!
