ESD approved my benefits 5+ weeks ago but still no payments - can't reach anyone!
I'm at my wits end with ESD! I received my approval letter for benefits over 5 weeks ago, but haven't seen a single payment hit my account. Every time I log into eServices, it just shows my claim as 'processed' but with zero payments issued. What's driving me crazy is there's absolutely NO WAY to speak to an actual human being about this! I've called at least 20 times over the past few weeks - always get the automated message saying 'call volume is too high, please try again later' and then it hangs up on me. Not even put on hold! Just disconnected! I've sent messages through eServices too, but no response there either. I'm starting to panic because my savings are basically gone and rent is due next week. Has anyone else had their payments delayed this long after approval? And has ANYONE found a way to actually reach a live person at ESD? Even tried the TTY line since they mention it on their website - turns out that's 'not available' for unemployment questions either. Feeling completely trapped in this broken system!

You're definitely not alone in this situation. The ESD payment system often experiences delays even after approval. Check your claim to see if it's in 'adjudication' status - that's usually what causes the delay. Common reasons include income verification, identity verification, or employer response issues. Did you receive any correspondence requesting additional information? Sometimes these get lost in the online messages system.

Thanks for responding! I don't see anything about adjudication in my account - just says 'processed' with approved weekly benefit amount but $0 in payments. No messages asking for more info either. It's like my claim got approved and then just... disappeared into the void?

There's likely an issue with your claim that wasn't properly communicated to you. Before my current position, I experienced similar problems with ESD. What helped me was using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) - they have a system that gets you through to ESD phone agents without the constant busy signals and hangups. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3\n\nOnce I finally got through to an agent, I discovered my claim had a small discrepancy in my employment dates that needed correction, but ESD never notified me. The agent fixed it immediately and my payments started processing within days.

Thank you! I've never heard of this service before. Has anyone else used it? I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

I used Claimyr last year when my standby status randomly got removed. Worked pretty well! Got through to ESD in about 20 minutes after weeks of trying on my own.

I hate to be THAT person, but this is EXACTLY why the unemployment system is so messed up! They approve your claim, make you think everything's fine, then just GHOST you for weeks while you drain your savings!!!! I went through this same nightmare scenario last year - 6 weeks with ZERO payments after approval. What finally worked was sending a message through eServices specifically mentioning that I would be contacting my state representative if not resolved within 48 hours. Magically, my payments started processing the next day. THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED to make people give up!!!!

That's a good idea about mentioning contacting my representative. I'll try that approach in my next message. It's ridiculous we have to resort to threats just to get what we're legally entitled to.

Have you checked if your payment method is set up correctly in your ESD account? I had a similar issue and discovered my direct deposit information had somehow been deleted from the system. When I finally reached someone, they told me they had been trying to send payments to a non-existent bank account. It's worth checking if that might be your issue.

Just double-checked and my direct deposit info is definitely there and correct. Thanks for the suggestion though.

You know what's weird? Sometimes the actual status of your claim doesn't show up right in eServices. I had something similar last winter where it showed approved but no payments. Eventually found out I needed to look under

Oh! I didn't think to check that section. Let me look right now... Wow, you're right! There's actually something there about needing additional employment verification that was added 3 weeks ago. But I never got any notification about it. Thank you so much for this tip!

That's great you found the issue! This happens quite often - their notification system is unreliable. Now you'll need to submit the verification they're requesting. Make sure to both upload the documents AND send a message referencing that you've done so. Then you'll still need to actually speak with someone to move your claim forward. Try early morning calling (right at 8am) or use the Claimyr service mentioned above if you continue having trouble getting through.

Thank you! I've uploaded the documents they requested and sent a message. Going to try calling at 8am sharp tomorrow, and if that doesn't work, I'll try Claimyr. Really appreciate everyone's help!
