Filed weekly claim by phone but ESD website says I still need to file - glitch?

So my husband is on his 5th week of claiming unemployment, and something weird happened yesterday. He filed his weekly claim using the phone system like he always does (prefers it over the website). Got the confirmation number and everything seemed fine. But when he logged into his eServices account today to check when the payment would come through, there was a message saying he still needs to file his weekly claim! Has anyone had this happen? Is this just a website glitch or did his phone claim not actually go through? Really worried about missing a payment right now since we're counting on it for our mortgage payment next week.

This happened to me 2 wks ago! The phone system is glitchy af right now. The phone said my claim went thru but website didnt update for like 18 hours. Check again tomorrow morning, it might just need time to process in their system.

Thanks for the quick response! That's a relief to hear. I'll tell him to check again tomorrow. Do you think he should try filing again through the website just in case, or would that mess things up?

I wouldn't file again until you call ESD to check on the status. Filing twice can actually flag your account for potential fraud investigation and delay payments further. The systems (phone and online) should sync within 24 hours, but occasionally there's a lag. If the message is still there tomorrow, you should definitely contact ESD directly. Did your husband get a confirmation number when he filed by phone? That's your proof the claim was submitted properly.

Yes, he did get a confirmation number and wrote it down. That's why we're so confused about the website message. I'll tell him to wait until tomorrow before doing anything else.

Yep this is pretty common with ESD unfortunately. Their phone system and website don't always talk to each other properly. I've been on unemployment twice and both times had weird glitches like this.

This is a known issue with ESD's systems. The phone system and the web portal run on different databases that sync periodically, but sometimes the sync process fails or gets delayed. Here's what I recommend: 1. Don't file again - this will cause problems 2. Wait 24-48 hours to see if the systems sync 3. If the message persists after 48 hours, you need to contact ESD 4. Keep that confirmation number as proof of filing If you do need to contact ESD, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was dealing with a similar sync issue last month that didn't resolve itself, and I used their service to get through to an actual ESD agent within 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to call. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to see that my phone claim had been received despite the website message, and manually fixed the sync issue.

This is super helpful information, thank you! We'll definitely wait the 48 hours before trying anything else. And I appreciate the recommendation - we'll check out Claimyr if we need to get through to ESD. It's so frustrating how their systems don't communicate properly!

DO NOT FILE AGAIN!!! I made that mistake and it caused a HUGE mess that took 6 weeks to sort out!!! The system flagged me for trying to claim twice for the same week and put my whole claim on hold for "investigation" which basically means they stick your file in a pile and get to it whenever. The phone and website systems are DIFFERENT and don't always update at the same time. If you got a confirmation # on the phone then the claim IS in the system, even if the website doesn't show it yet.

Oh wow, that sounds like a nightmare! Thanks for the warning - we definitely won't file again. I'll make sure my husband just waits for now.

Is your husband on regular UI or on some special program? Sometimes the requirements are different. Also make sure he's answering all the job search questions correctly - I think you need to report 3 job search activities each week now. If he missed answering one of those questions on the phone, it might be why the system is acting weird.

He's on regular UI, and he did report his 3 job search activities during the phone claim. The phone system confirmed everything was complete. That's why we're so confused about the website message!

Just following up - did the website update for you? Sometimes it takes until the next business day for everything to sync properly in their system.

Yes! You were right - we checked this morning and the website now shows his claim as processed. The payment is pending for tomorrow. Looks like it was just a delay in their systems talking to each other. Thanks everyone for the help and preventing us from making things worse by filing twice!
