Claim filing option missing with 2 weeks left on ESD benefits - help!

Has anyone else had this happen? I've been claiming unemployment since December and have exactly 2 weeks of benefits remaining according to my ESD account. Like clockwork, I've been filing every Saturday morning since this all started. Today I logged in at 8am like usual, but there's no option to file my weekly claim! The button/link I normally use isn't there at all. Nothing has changed with my situation and I didn't receive any notices about my claim ending early. I'm freaking out a bit because I REALLY need these last two weeks of benefits to cover rent while I start my new job next month. Is the system glitching? Should I wait and try again later today or call on Monday? I can't afford to miss this payment.

Thanks, I'll try Chrome instead of Safari. Did that fix it for you? Did you end up getting paid for that week?

This could be happening for a few reasons: 1. Your benefit year may have ended (this happens 52 weeks after you first applied, even if you still have benefits remaining) 2. There could be a new eligibility issue that's preventing filing 3. The system might be experiencing weekend maintenance First, check your "Notices" section in eServices to see if ESD sent any messages about your claim status. If nothing there, try again later today - sometimes the system does maintenance early Saturday mornings. If the option still doesn't appear by tomorrow, call ESD first thing Monday morning. The remaining weeks won't disappear, but you'll need to speak with an agent to resolve whatever's blocking your ability to file.

Thanks for the detailed response. I just checked and I don't have any new notices. My benefit year shouldn't be ending yet since I started in December 2024, so I'm only about 5 months in. I'll try again this afternoon and tomorrow. Really hope this is just maintenance!

the ESD website is THE WORST!!! i had something similar happen and it turned out they put my claim on hold for "verification" without telling me!!! had to wait 3 weeks to get paid because they needed to "verify" something that was already verified TWICE before. check if you got a letter in your actual mailbox, sometimes they send physical mail but nothing online!!

While the system can be frustrating, what you're describing is actually an identity verification hold, which is different from what OP is experiencing. When a claim suddenly has no weekly filing option, it's typically a technical issue, benefit year ending, or a specific disqualification. They usually don't remove the filing option for routine verification holds.

I tried calling ESD last week for a different issue and spent 4 hours getting nowhere. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Might be worth it for you since you need to get this resolved quickly for your rent situation. The agent I spoke with was able to see exactly what was happening with my claim (which wasn't visible on my end either).

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to try the browser trick first and see if the option appears later today. If I still can't file by Monday, I'll definitely look into this rather than spending hours on hold.

This is probably related to the quarterly review that ESD runs on all claims. Since we just entered Q3 of 2025, they do an automatic review to determine if you've had any earnings in the previous quarter that would affect your benefit amount or eligibility. During this process, the weekly claim option temporarily disappears for some claimants. It should return within 24-48 hours in most cases. If you don't see it by Monday morning, definitely call ESD. Importantly, even if you can't file on your regular day, you have until next Saturday to file for this week without it being considered late. So don't worry too much yet - your benefits aren't at risk as long as you file within the allowable timeframe.

Wait, is this really a thing? I've been on unemployment twice and never had the weekly claim option disappear during quarterly reviews. They just ask additional questions about earnings when you file.

Yes, it happens to some claimants but not all. It depends on various factors in your claim history and whether the system flags anything for review. Some people never experience it, while others might see it once or twice during their benefit year. The system isn't consistent, unfortunately.

Thank you! That would explain it and make me feel a lot better. I'll definitely try again tomorrow and Monday morning.

Just to clarify something important: even if your benefit year ends, if you have remaining benefits, you should still be able to collect them, but you might need to call ESD to get help with this. The system sometimes doesn't handle this transition properly. Also, double-check your work search requirements. If you failed to report your work search activities last week or didn't meet the requirement of 3 activities, the system might temporarily block your ability to file until you speak with someone. One more thing - if your new job has already entered you into the system as an employee (even if you haven't started working yet), this could trigger an automatic hold on your claim that requires manual review.

I've been meeting all my work search requirements, reporting 3-4 activities every week with detailed information. And I haven't started the new job yet - they literally just made the offer on Thursday and I'm not in their system yet. I start August 1st. But good point about that potentially causing issues later.

Just tried Chrome, Edge, and even my phone - still no option to file. Based on other comments, I'm thinking it might be system maintenance. Will update tomorrow!

UPDATE: The claim filing option appeared this morning (Sunday)! Must have been system maintenance like some of you suggested. Filed my claim with no issues. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions - you saved me a lot of stress!

Glad to hear it worked out! This is a good reminder for everyone that sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one. Weekend system maintenance is pretty common with ESD.
