ESD claim restarted successfully but weekly claim option missing - help!

I'm completely stumped right now! I had to restart my unemployment claim because my employer cut my hours drastically (from 38 to only 12 hours weekly). I received an email from ESD saying my claim restart was successful - even got the confirmation number and everything. But when I log into my eServices account, there's absolutely NO option anywhere for me to file a weekly claim! The weekly claim section just isn't there at all. It's been 3 days since I got the confirmation email. Am I missing something obvious? Do I need to wait longer for the system to update? I need to start claiming ASAP since rent is due in two weeks and I'm already struggling with the reduced hours. Has anyone else dealt with this weird system glitch?

This happened to me back in January too!! The system is so glitchy. You might need to wait until Sunday after midnight to file (that's when the new week starts) OR your claim might be stuck in processing. Did your confirmation email mention anything about a waiting week?

Thanks for responding! The email didn't say anything about a waiting week - just that my claim was successfully reactivated. I'll wait until Sunday to see if the option appears, but I'm worried because I thought I'd be able to claim for last week already. Do you remember how long yours took to show up?

The exact same thing happened with my sisters BF last month and it turned out he needed to call in. Somthing about the system not updating right when you restart a claim with reduced hours vs being totally laid off. Try callng the number on Monday morning right when they open.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Every time I've tried calling ESD it's been a nightmare getting through. I'll set an alarm for Monday morning though. Thanks for the tip!

This is a common issue with restarted claims where your hours were reduced rather than eliminated completely. There are two possible explanations: 1. Your claim is in a pending status and requires an agent to manually review before weekly claim options appear. This typically happens with variable-hour reductions. 2. There could be an eligibility issue the system flagged. When you restart a claim with reduced hours, ESD sometimes needs to verify with your employer that your hours were actually reduced and not reduced at your request. You should first check your "Notices/Letters" section in eServices to see if there are any new correspondence items. If nothing shows there, you'll need to contact ESD directly. Unfortunately their phone lines are extremely busy, especially Monday mornings.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I checked my Notices/Letters section and there's nothing new there besides the claim restart confirmation. I guess I'll have to call them, which is frustrating because I know how impossible it is to get through.

Try logging out and back in again. Sometimes the system needs a refresh to show all options. Also make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off because sometimes the weekly claim opens in a new window.

I've tried logging out and back in multiple times, even tried different browsers and cleared my cache. Still nothing showing up. But I didn't think about pop-up blockers - I'll double check that setting. Thanks!

Same issue happened to me last month when my restaurant cut my hours. You need to call ESD directly and have them manually update your claim status. The system often gets stuck when processing partial unemployment claims (reduced hours vs. complete layoff). I was pulling my hair out trying to get through on the phone until I discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to an ESD agent in about 30 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once I actually talked to someone, they fixed my claim status immediately and I was able to file my weekly claims that same day. Turns out my claim needed a special review because of the reduced hours situation.

I've heard about that service but wasnt sure if it actually worked. good to know someone had success with it!

That's really helpful, thank you! I've been dreading spending hours calling and redialing only to get disconnected. I'll check out that service because I really can't afford to wait much longer. Did they explain why the system gets stuck with reduced hours claims?

@OP When I finally got through to ESD, the agent explained that reduced hours claims often trigger an automatic review because they need to verify your exact hours and that the reduction wasn't voluntary. Apparently their system handles complete layoffs much more efficiently than partial unemployment. Once they manually reviewed my case, everything worked normally going forward.

That makes sense but is super frustrating. I wish they'd explain this in the confirmation email instead of making it sound like everything is ready to go!

I work with unemployment claims professionally, and I can clarify this situation. When you restart a claim with reduced hours, it automatically enters what's called the "partial unemployment verification queue" - which isn't visible to claimants in the portal. This is because ESD must verify: 1. That your hours were reduced by your employer (not at your request) 2. That your current hours/wages are accurately reported 3. That you meet the minimum 25% reduction threshold for partial benefits Unfortunately, the automated email doesn't mention this review process. You definitely need to contact ESD directly. When you speak with them, specifically mention you've restarted a claim with reduced hours and need it released from the verification queue. They should be able to expedite the process since you've already received the confirmation email. Once this is resolved, weekly claim options will appear in your dashboard automatically.

Thank you so much for this explanation! It's incredibly helpful to understand what's happening behind the scenes. I'll make sure to use those exact terms when I call. I really appreciate everyone's help here - at least now I know I'm not going crazy or missing something obvious!

Did you manage to get through to ESD yet? Curious if they were able to fix it for you. I'm having a similar issue now and wondering if I should just try calling them too.

Yes! I finally got through yesterday. Used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above and it worked perfectly - got connected in about 20 minutes. The agent confirmed exactly what everyone here said about reduced hours claims needing manual review. They released my claim from the verification queue (had to verify with my employer first) and the weekly claim option appeared immediately after I logged out and back in. Already filed for the past two weeks. Definitely call them if you're having the same issue!
