ESD phone claim shows as 'processing' but system says I have a weekly claim to file - what's going on?
Anyone experiencing this weird glitch? My husband and I both file for unemployment. He filed his weekly claim last night at 12:01 AM over the phone (he prefers using the phone system), but when he logged into his eServices account this morning to double-check, it's showing two contradictory things: 1. On the homepage, it says he has a weekly claim to file 2. But when he checks his payment history, it shows this week (ending 5/4/2025) as 'processing' I'm confused because I filed mine online and don't have this issue. Is this a known problem with phone claims? Should he ignore the 'claim to file' message since it's already processing? I'm worried if he tries to file again it might mess things up or flag his account for fraud or something. Has the system just not updated yet or is something wrong?

This happens pretty often with phone claims. The eServices system sometimes takes 24-48 hours to fully sync with phone claims. As long as you see it in the payment history as "processing," you're good - don't file again! If he tries to file online now, he'll either get an error message or worse, it could create a duplicate claim that might delay everything. Just wait it out and check tomorrow - the message about having a claim to file should disappear on its own.

•Thank you so much! That's a relief. I'll tell him to just leave it alone then. Do you know why ESD has this sync issue between the phone system and online? Seems like they would've fixed that by now.

•Omg this exactly! The ESD systems never talk to each other properly. I've been claiming by phone for 2 months now and EVERY week I panic about this until I remember it's just their crappy system. As long as you got a confirmation number when filing by phone, you're fine.

I had the same issue and tried to file again online cause I thought the phone didn't work right. BIG MISTAKE. Ended up with an adjudication for filing twice and had to wait 3 weeks for them to fix it. If it says processing in payment history, just leave it alone.

•Yeah, this is unfortunately common. The ESD legacy systems don't communicate in real-time. The payment processing system and the claim filing notification system are separate. When you file by phone, it goes directly to payment processing but the notification system can take 24-72 hours to update.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago but I couldn't get through to ESD on the phone to ask about it. After trying for days with endless busy signals, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual ESD agent in about 20 minutes. The agent confirmed exactly what others are saying here - if it shows as "processing" in payment history, you're all set and just need to ignore the claim filing alert until it updates. They have a video demo of how it works at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 in case you need to talk to ESD directly about this or any other issues with your claim.

UPDATE: You all were right! The message went away this morning and now everything looks normal. The payment is showing as paid now too. Seems like such a simple thing for ESD to fix though - just have the systems talk to each other properly so people don't panic!

The REAL question is why does ESD still have a phone system from the stone age when everything else in the world has moved online?? They've had YEARS to fix this!! And don't even get me started on their "new and improved" website that's down for maintenance every other weekend. I swear they do this on purpose to make people give up on claiming benefits.

•I understand the frustration, but the phone system actually serves an important purpose for people with limited internet access, disabilities, or language barriers. The integration issues are definitely a problem though. ESD has been allocated funds to upgrade their systems, but these large government IT projects take time to implement properly.

•Ok fine but its 2025! We shouldnt have government systems that cant talk to each other! My smart fridge can order groceries but ESD cant figure out if I filed a claim or not???

•@user123 - That's a completely different question from what OP was asking, but yes, you have until the end of the following week to file a weekly claim. So if you missed last week, file it ASAP before this week ends. You'll need to provide a good reason for filing late, and it might delay your payment.
