TWC payment deposit timing for ReliaCard - when does money arrive after request?

Hey everyone! I just got approved for unemployment and have the TWC ReliaCard. I need to request my payment tomorrow but I'm trying to figure out exactly WHEN the money will be available on my card so I can plan which bills to pay first. Does anyone know the typical timeline between requesting payment and when funds actually hit the ReliaCard? Some bills are due next week and I'm seriously stressing about timing everything right! 😭😭 Is it like 2-3 days or longer? And does requesting on certain days of the week make it faster?

If your payment request is approved without any issues, the money typically hits your ReliaCard account within 2-3 business days. I've been on unemployment since January and mine usually shows up 2 days after I request. Just remember that weekends don't count as business days, so if you request on Friday, you probably won't see it until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thank you!! That helps a lot. Do you know if there's any way to check if my payment request gets approved right away or do I just have to wait and see if the money shows up?

0 coins

it varies tbh. somtimes 2 days sometimes 4. depends on if theres any flags on ur account

0 coins

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. Do you know what kind of flags might slow things down? This is my first payment request.

The TWC payment processing works like this: 1. You request payment on your designated filing day 2. TWC processes the request (usually overnight) 3. If approved, payment is released the next business day 4. The ReliaCard typically receives the deposit 1-2 business days after the payment is released So the total timeline is usually 2-3 business days from request to deposit. You can track this in your TWC account under the Payment Information section, which will show when a payment is processed and released. If you have work search requirements, make sure those are completed and documented correctly or it could delay your payment. Also, holiday weekends can add an extra day to processing time.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll definitely check the Payment Information section. Is there a specific time of day when the money usually posts to the card?

When I was on unemployment last year, mine was ALWAYS delayed the first payment. Took about 5 days instead of the normal 2-3. Don't panic if it doesn't show up right away! After that first one though, it was super consistent - I'd request on Monday and have money by Wednesday afternoon. The system works better than it seems!

0 coins

That's really good to know - I'll try not to panic if the first one takes longer. Wish they made this clearer on their website!

I HATE THE WAITING GAME!!! Been there, done that. The TWC system is so frustrating with timing. My advice? Always assume it will take the LONGEST possible time (4 business days) and plan accordingly. Better to be pleasantly surprised than screwed on bill payments.

^^^^ this. always plan for worst case scenario with twc

Try contacting TWC directly to ask about your specific payment timing. I know it's almost impossible to get through on their phone lines, but I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to a TWC agent in under 15 minutes when I had questions about my payment schedule. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh that shows how it works. The agent was able to tell me exactly when my payment would hit my ReliaCard, which was super helpful for planning bills.

Has anyone else used this Claimyr thing? I've been calling TWC for 2 weeks straight with no luck...

PRO TIP: Set up direct deposit instead of ReliaCard if possible. It's usually faster by a day and more reliable. You can change it in your TWC account settings.

0 coins

I didn't even realize that was an option! I'll look into changing to direct deposit after I get this first payment. Thank you!

Just to follow up on the direct deposit suggestion - while it is often faster, switching payment methods can cause a one-time delay in your next payment while the system updates. If you're in a tight spot with bills right now, it might be better to wait until you have a bit of financial cushion before making that change.

0 coins

That's really important to know - I'll probably wait a few weeks before switching to direct deposit then. Thank you for the heads up!

btw the reliacard app is decent for tracking when $ hits. better than checking account balance constantly

Just downloaded it! Thanks for the suggestion 👍

One thing I learned the hard way - if you're cutting it close with bill due dates, call your creditors/utility companies NOW to let them know you might be a few days late. Most of them will work with you if you give them a heads up, especially if you explain you're waiting on unemployment benefits. I avoided late fees on my electric bill this way when my first TWC payment took 4 days instead of the expected 2. Don't wait until after the due date to call - do it before you even request the payment!

This is such good advice! I never would have thought to call ahead but that makes so much sense. I'm definitely going to call my utility company tomorrow morning before I even request the payment. Better to be proactive than scrambling later. Thanks for sharing this tip!

I've been dealing with TWC payments for about 8 months now and here's what I've noticed: Tuesday requests usually process faster than Friday requests because there's no weekend delay. Also, if you're really stressed about timing, you can call the ReliaCard customer service line (1-855-282-6161) and they can tell you if a deposit is "pending" even before it shows up in your account balance. This saved me so much anxiety when I was waiting for my first payment! They're usually pretty helpful and the wait times aren't terrible like TWC's main line.

0 coins

This is so helpful! I had no idea you could call ReliaCard directly to check for pending deposits. That phone number is going to be a lifesaver - I was literally planning to refresh my account balance every hour like a maniac 😅 And the Tuesday vs Friday timing tip is really smart too. I'm definitely calling that ReliaCard number tomorrow after I request my payment. Thank you so much for sharing these practical tips!

Just want to add my experience since I went through this exact same stress last month! I requested my first TWC payment on a Wednesday and it hit my ReliaCard Friday afternoon - so exactly 2 business days. What really helped my anxiety was logging into my TWC account the morning after I requested and seeing the status had changed to "Payment Issued" which meant it was approved and on its way. From that point I knew it was just a matter of waiting for the actual deposit. Also, the money typically posts to ReliaCard between 12-3pm in my experience, not early morning like some bank deposits. Hope this helps ease some of your stress - the waiting is definitely the worst part but it does work out! 💙

0 coins

This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you for sharing the specific timing details - knowing it typically posts between 12-3pm is super helpful for planning my day. And I'll definitely check my TWC account tomorrow morning to look for that "Payment Issued" status change. It's so reassuring to hear from someone who just went through this same situation. The waiting really is the most stressful part when you're trying to juggle bill due dates! 😊

Quick tip from someone who's been there - if you have access to online banking or any payment apps, check if your bills accept partial payments! When I was waiting for my first TWC payment, I paid just enough to keep my utilities from being shut off (like $50 on a $150 bill) and then paid the rest when my unemployment hit. Most companies won't charge late fees if you make ANY payment before the due date, even if it's not the full amount. This bought me the breathing room I needed while waiting for the ReliaCard deposit. Also, food banks and local assistance programs can help bridge the gap if you're really tight on groceries while waiting - no shame in using resources that are there to help! You've got this! 💪

0 coins

This is brilliant advice! I never thought about making partial payments to avoid shutoffs - that's such a smart strategy for buying time while waiting for the deposit. And you're absolutely right about food banks, there's no shame in using available resources when you need them. I'm actually going to look up local assistance programs in my area right now just to have that information ready. Thank you for being so thoughtful and practical with these suggestions! It really helps to know there are ways to manage the gap between requesting payment and actually receiving it. 🙏

Hey Julia! I just went through this exact same situation a few weeks ago and totally understand the stress! Here's what worked for me: I requested my payment on a Tuesday morning and it hit my ReliaCard Thursday around 2pm - so right in that 2-3 business day window everyone mentioned. What really helped was downloading the ReliaCard mobile app AND setting up text alerts for deposits so I got notified the second the money hit. Also, since you mentioned this is your first payment, definitely double-check that all your work search activities are properly logged in the TWC system before you request - any missing documentation can cause delays. One last tip: if you're really cutting it close with bills, consider calling your creditors today to explain the situation. I called my car loan company and they gave me a 5-day grace period without fees when I explained I was waiting for unemployment benefits. The anticipation is definitely the worst part, but the system does work! Keep us posted on how it goes! 🤞

Oliver, this is such comprehensive advice! I really appreciate you taking the time to share all these details. The text alert tip for ReliaCard deposits is genius - I'm definitely setting that up right after I download the app. And you're absolutely right about double-checking the work search requirements beforehand - I've been paranoid about documenting everything properly but it's good to know that's actually critical for avoiding delays. I never would have thought to call creditors proactively, but after reading yours and other comments about doing this, I'm convinced it's the smart move. Going to spend tomorrow morning making those calls before I even request the payment. Thank you so much for all the practical tips and encouragement! It really helps to hear from people who've been exactly where I am right now. I'll definitely update everyone once I get through this first payment cycle! 🙏

Just wanted to jump in as someone who's been navigating TWC payments for over a year now! The timing stress is SO real - I remember that exact feeling with my first payment. Here's what I wish someone had told me: create a "payment timeline tracker" where you write down your request date and expected deposit dates (2-4 business days out). This helped me stay sane instead of obsessively checking my account. Also, if you're really worried about timing, you can actually view your TWC payment history once you get a few payments under your belt to see YOUR personal pattern - mine is consistently 2.5 business days, but my friend's is always 3. The system has quirks but it's more predictable than it seems at first! One more thing - if you end up switching to direct deposit later (which I highly recommend), do it right after you get a payment, not right before you request one, to avoid any processing delays. You've got this! The first payment is always the most nerve-wracking but it gets so much easier once you know your personal timeline! 💙

Mikayla, the payment timeline tracker idea is absolutely brilliant! I'm definitely going to set that up - it sounds like such a practical way to manage the anxiety instead of just constantly refreshing my account balance. And knowing that everyone has their own personal pattern with TWC timing is really reassuring. I love that you mentioned waiting until after getting a payment before switching to direct deposit - that timing advice could have saved me from a lot of stress if I'd switched too early. Thank you for sharing your experience and for the encouragement! It really helps to know that the first payment is the hardest part and it gets more predictable from there. I'm feeling so much more prepared now thanks to everyone's advice in this thread! 😊

One thing that helped me tremendously when I was in your exact situation - create a backup plan for your most critical bills! I made a list ranking my bills by importance (rent/mortgage first, then utilities, then everything else) and figured out the absolute minimum I needed to pay on each to avoid shutoffs or late fees. This way, even if my TWC payment took the full 4 business days instead of 2-3, I wasn't completely panicked. Also, many utility companies have budget billing or payment arrangement options specifically for people receiving unemployment benefits - I found this out by accident when I called to explain my situation. The customer service rep actually offered me a payment plan that split my bill into smaller chunks over 3 months with no fees. Don't be afraid to mention you're on unemployment when you call - a lot of companies have special programs they don't advertise! You're being so smart by planning ahead instead of just hoping for the best. The stress is totally normal but you're handling this really well! 🌟

Brielle, this is such thoughtful advice! I love the idea of ranking bills by importance and figuring out minimum payments - that's such a smart way to take control of the situation instead of just worrying. And wow, I had no idea that utility companies might have special programs for people on unemployment! I'm definitely going to mention that when I call tomorrow. It's amazing how many resources are available that I never would have known about. Your point about creating a backup plan really resonates with me - I think having that safety net planned out will help me sleep better while waiting for the payment to hit. Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed and caring advice. This whole thread has been incredible - I went from panicking about timing to feeling like I have a solid plan! 💙

I've been on TWC unemployment for about 6 months now and want to share what I've learned about ReliaCard timing! Generally it's 2-3 business days, but here are some factors that can affect it: if you request on Monday-Tuesday, you'll usually get it by Wednesday-Thursday. Friday requests often don't hit until the following Tuesday due to weekend processing delays. Also, your first few payments might take longer as the system "learns" your account - mine took 4 days the first time but has been consistent at 2 days ever since. One game-changer tip: sign up for account alerts through both TWC and ReliaCard so you get notifications at each step. The TWC system will alert you when payment is approved/issued, and ReliaCard alerts you when it actually deposits. This eliminated so much anxiety for me because I knew exactly where my payment was in the process! Also, if you're ever unsure about timing, the ReliaCard customer service is actually pretty helpful and can tell you if a deposit is pending. Hang in there - the uncertainty is definitely the hardest part but it becomes much more predictable once you get into a rhythm! 💪

AstroAce, this is incredibly helpful! I had no idea that the system kind of "learns" your account over the first few payments - that actually makes me feel better about potentially longer timing on this first one. The dual alert system idea is genius too - getting notifications from both TWC when it's issued AND ReliaCard when it deposits would eliminate so much of the guesswork and obsessive account checking I was planning to do! 😅 And knowing that Monday-Tuesday requests typically process faster than Friday ones is such practical timing advice. I'm definitely going to set up all those alerts right after I post this. Thank you for breaking down the whole process so clearly - it really helps to understand what's happening at each step instead of just waiting and wondering!

Julia, I totally feel your stress about the timing! I've been getting TWC payments for about 4 months now and here's what I've noticed with my ReliaCard: the money usually hits between 2-4 business days, but like others mentioned, your first payment can take longer. What really saved my sanity was setting up push notifications on the ReliaCard app - you get an instant alert the moment the deposit hits, so you're not constantly checking your balance. Also, pro tip: if you log into your TWC account the day after requesting payment and see "Payment Status: Issued" that means it's been approved and is on its way to your card. The waiting game is brutal when bills are due, but I promise it gets more predictable after the first couple payments! You might also want to check if any of your bill companies offer a few days grace period if you call and explain you're waiting on unemployment - I was surprised how understanding my internet provider was when I explained the situation. Hang in there! 🤗

0 coins

Alberto, thank you so much for this! The push notification tip for the ReliaCard app is exactly what I needed - I was literally planning to check my balance obsessively every few hours 😅 And knowing to look for "Payment Status: Issued" in my TWC account the day after requesting is such a helpful milestone to watch for. It's really reassuring to hear from someone who's been doing this for a few months that it does get more predictable! I'm definitely going to call my internet and utility companies tomorrow morning before I even request the payment - so many people have mentioned how understanding companies can be when you explain you're waiting on unemployment benefits. This whole thread has been such a lifesaver - I went from complete panic mode to actually feeling like I have a solid plan. Thank you for the encouragement! 💙

Hey Julia! I just want to echo what everyone else has said - the first payment anxiety is SO real but you're going to be okay! I've been on TWC since October and my ReliaCard deposits have been pretty consistent at 2-3 business days. One thing that really helped me was making a simple spreadsheet tracking my request dates and deposit dates so I could see my personal pattern emerge. Also, since you mentioned being stressed about bill timing, I'd suggest downloading the apps for all your utility/bill companies if you haven't already - a lot of them let you see your exact due dates and some even send reminders when payments are processed. The ReliaCard app notifications are a game changer too! And honestly, the fact that you're planning ahead and asking these questions shows you're handling this really responsibly. The waiting is definitely the worst part, but once you get through this first payment cycle, you'll feel so much more confident about the process. Wishing you the best - please update us when your payment hits! 🙏

Mohammed, this is such great advice! The spreadsheet idea for tracking request/deposit dates is brilliant - I love having data to look at instead of just guessing. And you're so right about downloading all the bill company apps to track due dates more easily. I actually never thought about how helpful it would be to see exactly when payments are processed on their end too. It's really encouraging to hear from someone who's been doing this since October that the pattern does become predictable! I'm definitely going to create that tracking spreadsheet after my first payment goes through. Thank you for the reassurance and for reminding me that planning ahead is the right approach - sometimes when you're stressed it's hard to tell if you're being responsible or just overthinking everything! I'll absolutely update everyone once I get through this first cycle. This thread has been such a lifeline! 😊

Julia, I completely understand your stress! I've been getting TWC payments for about 3 months now and that first payment anxiety is absolutely brutal when you're trying to juggle bills. Here's what I wish someone had told me: the timing is usually 2-3 business days like everyone mentioned, but I always plan for 4 just to be safe. My personal pattern has been Tuesday request = Thursday afternoon deposit, but that first one took until Friday. What really saved me was calling my creditors the day BEFORE I requested payment - not after. I explained I was waiting on unemployment benefits and most were super understanding. My electric company even noted it in my account so I wouldn't get any automated late notices. Also, set up those ReliaCard app notifications immediately - getting that instant "deposit received" alert eliminates so much anxiety! The waiting is honestly the hardest part of this whole process, but I promise it gets so much easier once you know your personal timeline. You're being really smart by planning ahead instead of just hoping for the best! 💙

Evelyn, this is such helpful advice! I love that you mentioned calling creditors the day BEFORE requesting payment rather than after - that's such a proactive approach and I bet it makes a huge difference in how they respond. Getting ahead of any potential late notices by having them note it in your account is really smart too. I'm definitely going to follow that strategy tomorrow morning before I even log into TWC. And yes, I'm setting up those ReliaCard notifications right away - it sounds like that instant deposit alert is a total game changer for managing the anxiety! Thank you for sharing your personal timeline too (Tuesday request = Thursday afternoon) - it really helps to hear specific examples. Planning for 4 days while hoping for 2-3 seems like the perfect mental approach. This whole thread has transformed my panic into an actual action plan! 🙏
