TWC ReliaCard payment delay after first deposit - should I be worried?

So I finally got approved for unemployment benefits last week and received my ReliaCard in the mail with one week of payments already loaded onto it. Everything seemed to be going smoothly! I submitted my payment request for a full 2-week period early Sunday morning (literally at midnight) thinking the money would process faster. It's now Thursday night and still nothing has shown up on my ReliaCard. I thought the whole point of ReliaCard was to get your money FASTER than direct deposit? Is this normal or should I be concerned? How long does it usually take for benefits to show up on ReliaCard after submitting a payment request? Starting to get anxious since I've got bills coming due...

its normal chill out lol. my first payment came fast but now it takes like 3-4 business days after i request payment. they process all the payment requests on different days depending on your last name or ssn or something. midnight sunday doesn't mean faster processing

Oh really? No one explained there was a schedule based on last name! Do you know where I can find that info? I'm worried because I already spent what was on the card thinking more would come quickly.

The first deposit is typically faster because TWC prioritizes getting the initial payment out. After that, regular payment requests follow TWC's standard processing schedule. ReliaCard payments usually appear 2-4 business days after TWC processes your payment request, which happens after your request is reviewed (not immediately when submitted). You can check your payment status on the TWC website under 'Claim and Payment Status' to see if it shows 'processed' yet. If it does, give it 1-2 more business days. If it shows 'pending' after 5 business days, there might be an issue worth looking into.

Thanks for explaining! I just checked and it says 'pending review' - I didn't realize there was a whole review process after submitting the request. Is that a bad sign?

Pending' review could mean many things. Did you report any earnings? Missing work search activities? Sometimes they do random eligibility reviews. Happened to metwice.

I did report some part-time hours at my new job. Maybe that's what triggered it? I definitely did all my work searches though!

PENDING' REVIEW IS TWC CODE FOR THEY THINK YOUR LYING ABOUT SOMETHING!!! I had that for THREE WEEKS and then got DENIED because they said my work searches'weren t valid. They NEVER EVEN CALLED to verify!!!! Check your correspondence inbox EVERY DAY because they might have sent you something requiring a response. And good luck calling them - I spent 3 days redial redial redial before I gotthrough!!!

Not always true. Mine said pending review for 4 days and then processed fine. Not everything is a conspiracy.

If your payment request shows 'pending review' and you reported part-time earnings, that's likely the reason for the delay. TWC manually reviews payment requests that include reported earnings to verify the amounts. This typically adds 3-5 business days to the processing time. If you need to speak with a TWC representative to check your claim status, you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation with payment delays and spent hours trying to get through to TWC with no luck. Claimyr got me connected to a TWC agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P88?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh. The agent was able to tell me exactly why my payment was delayed and when I could expect it.

That makes sense about the part-time earnings. I'll give it a couple more days before I panic. If it doesn't change by Monday, I might try that Claimyr service - thanks for the suggestion!

Did you make sure to enter your work search activities correctly? I had a payment delayed because I forgot to enter the date I applied for one job and just put the company name. Also, ReliaCard and direct deposit actually take the same amount of time to process after TWC releases the payment. ReliaCard just seems faster for the first payment because they mail the card with money already on it.

I'm pretty sure I entered everything right, but maybe I made a mistake somewhere. Do they tell you if there's an issue with your work search activities or do they just silently delay your payment?

They should send a message to your correspondence inbox if there's an issue with your work search activities that needs to be resolved. However, reporting part-time earnings is the most likely cause of the review. TWC has to verify those earnings before processing payment, which can take 3-7 business days depending on their current workload. One important thing to note: your benefit amount will be reduced based on your part-time earnings. For every dollar you earn above 25% of your weekly benefit amount, your payment is reduced by a dollar. So if your weekly benefit is $400, you can earn up to $100 without reduction, but anything over that reduces your benefit.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Yes, I knew about the reduction and reported my earnings honestly. I only made about $180 last week so I should still get something. I'll keep an eye on my correspondence inbox and give it until next week before getting too worried.

Update us when you get your payment! It helps others know what timeframes to expect. Good luck!

I've been through this exact same situation! The combination of reporting part-time earnings and it being your second payment request is definitely why you're seeing the delay. When I first started collecting benefits, my initial payment was super fast (came with the card), but then my second payment took almost a full week because I had also reported some freelance work I did. The "pending review" status is totally normal when you report earnings - they have to manually verify everything matches up. Since you earned $180 and assuming your weekly benefit is around $400 (just guessing), you should still get a decent payment once it processes. The waiting is the worst part, but it sounds like you're doing everything right by reporting honestly and keeping up with work searches. Hang in there - it should show up early next week if the timeline follows what most of us have experienced!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing. The waiting really is the worst part, especially when you're counting on that money. Your timeline estimate gives me hope that I should see something by early next week. I appreciate you taking the time to explain what to expect - it definitely helps calm my nerves!

I went through something very similar when I started collecting benefits! The first payment comes loaded on the ReliaCard when they mail it to you, but after that, regular payment requests follow TWC's normal processing timeline. When you report part-time earnings like you did, it triggers a manual review process that adds several extra days. The good news is that "pending review" for reported earnings is completely routine - they just need to verify your work hours and calculate the correct benefit reduction. Since you earned $180, depending on your weekly benefit amount, you should still receive a partial payment once the review is complete. I'd expect to see movement in your claim status by Monday or Tuesday of next week. The waiting is stressful when bills are due, but you're doing everything correctly by reporting your earnings honestly. That's actually going to work in your favor long-term with TWC!

This is exactly what I needed to hear! The timing you mentioned matches up perfectly with what others have been saying - it seems like the manual review for part-time earnings consistently takes about a week. I'm feeling much more confident now that this is just normal processing rather than a problem with my claim. Really appreciate you explaining the whole process step by step. Knowing that reporting earnings honestly will help me long-term with TWC makes the wait feel more worthwhile too!
