PA UC biweekly verification texts not coming through - system down?

Is anybody else having trouble with the PA UC verification texts this morning? I've been filing my biweekly claims without any issues for months, but today I'm supposed to verify and the text message just isn't coming through to my phone. I requested it 3 times already and checked that my phone number is correct in the system. My benefit payment is already delayed from last week and I really can't afford to miss another one. Has the UC system crashed again? Anyone know if there's a backup verification method I can use besides waiting for this text that never comes?

Ugh that's frustrating but thanks for confirming I'm not the only one! Maybe we should just try again later today?

The verification system does go down occasionally. You have three options: 1) Wait a few hours and try again, 2) Try using the PA UC portal to request an email verification instead of text, or 3) Call the PA UC office directly to verify your identity. Option 3 is usually fastest but also the hardest because of how difficult it is to get through on the phone lines.

I didn't know about the email option! Will check that out right now, thanks!

I had to call in last month when the same thing happened to me and I was on hold for 3 HOURS before they hung up on me!! Then tried again and finally got someone after 2 more hours. The whole system is complete garbage if you ask me.

This is for text messages, not emails, but good point about my carrier! I should check if Verizon is having outages today.

Sounds like Mercury retrograde is messing with the unemployment office computers again LOL! But seriously, have you tried logging out completely and then logging back in? Sometimes that resets the verification system. Also make sure your phone isn't blocking short codes - that happened to me once and I missed THREE weeks of payments because I didn't realize my phone was blocking the verification texts!

This is actually good advice about the short codes. Many people don't realize that some cell phone carriers or spam blocking apps automatically block the 5-6 digit numbers that PA UC uses for verification texts. Check your phone settings under messages or spam protection.

UPDATE: The problem was my new spam blocker app! I checked the settings and it was blocking all messages from 5-6 digit numbers as potential scams. I whitelisted the PA UC number and instantly got 4 verification texts all at once. Thank you all for the help!!

Glad you figured it out! For future reference for anyone reading this thread, the PA UC text verification system uses number 91875. You should add this to any whitelist in your spam blocking apps to avoid missing important verification texts.
