PA UC website giving 'Error 500' when filing weekly benefits - anyone else?

Has anyone else been trying to file their weekly PA UC claim today and getting nothing but error pages? Every time I get to the final submission page, I keep getting some 'Error 500' message and it kicks me out completely. I've tried 6 times already on different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, even tried on my phone) but still no luck! It's already Wednesday and I'm getting worried my payment will be delayed if I can't file before Friday. Is the system down for maintenance or something? Any tricks to get it working?

The PA UC system has been glitchy since they did that update last weekend. Try filing between 6-8am or after 10pm when fewer people are on the system. Also clear your cache/cookies first and make sure you're not using any VPN. I was having the same problem on Monday but got through yesterday morning at 6:30am without any errors.

Thanks for the tip! I'll set an alarm and try early tomorrow morning. Do you know if there's a penalty for filing late if it's because their system is down? This is only my third week claiming.

This is a known issue with the current system. Here's what you need to do: 1. Try filing during off-peak hours (early morning or late night) 2. Before starting, clear your browser cache and cookies 3. Make sure you're using a supported browser (Edge and Chrome work best) 4. Don't use autofill for any fields 5. If you get disconnected, wait 30 minutes before trying again (the system may lock you out if you try too many times in succession) If you're unable to file by your deadline due to system errors, document your attempts (screenshots if possible) and contact them to explain. They typically grant extensions when there are known system issues.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I'll try again tonight following these steps. Do you know if there's a direct number to call about technical issues? The regular UC number never gets me through to anyone.

OMG the PA UC website is ALWAYS broken!!! This happened to me 3 times last month and I had to call for 2 DAYS straight before I got someone to help me file over the phone. The whole system needs to be rebuilt from scratch if you ask me. These errors cost people money when payments get delayed!!

I've had better luck using Claimyr to get through to PA UC when I couldn't file online. Their system connects you with an agent much faster than calling directly. I used their video demo (https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2) to figure it out and was connected to someone who helped me file my claim over the phone. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Saved me from missing a payment when the system was down for 3 days last month.

I didn't know filing on different days could make a difference! Unfortunately I can't wait until Sunday since my filing window ends Friday. Will definitely try on Sundays going forward though!

Are you entering your SSN with dashes? That was my problem. Try entering just the numbers with no dashes or spaces.

I've been entering it without dashes, but maybe I'll try with dashes? Worth a shot at this point!

EXACTLY!!! It's like they DELIBERATELY make it harder at the end of the month! I've been on UC three times in the past 6 years and the pattern is ALWAYS the same. System "maintenance" when people need money the most. 🙄

UPDATE: Just checked Twitter and PA Labor & Industry posted that they're aware of the filing issues and working to resolve them. They said if you can't file by your deadline due to the system errors, they'll accept late filings without penalty once the system is fixed. They expect it to be resolved by tomorrow afternoon.

That's a huge relief! Thank you so much for checking and letting us know. I'll still try again tonight but it's good to know they're not going to penalize us for their system problems.
