My sister in law had this happen last month and she got her money but it took 4 days instead of the usual 2. Something about a batch processing error they said. I dont use the card anymore I switched to direct deposit after they randomly froze my card last year for "verification" and I couldnt buy groceries for a week!!
Direct deposit is definitely more reliable. For anyone wanting to switch: log into your PA UC portal, select "View and Maintain Account Information," then "Payment Information," and choose the direct deposit option. You'll need your bank routing and account numbers. The change usually takes effect for the next payment cycle.
One last suggestion - check if your claim crossed over a quarter boundary. PA UC sometimes needs to recalculate benefits when a new quarter starts because they look back at different months for your base period. This can sometimes trigger a redetermination that looks concerning but is actually just administrative. Regardless, definitely pursue both the appeal and trying to reach someone by phone. Document everything, including all your attempts to contact them. If you do need to appeal, having a record of your attempts to resolve the issue will help your case.
This is why I switched to direct deposit instead of the Money Network card. I was having too many issues with delayed payments and random holds. With direct deposit, it's much more consistent - funds always hit my bank account Tuesday night/Wednesday morning without fail. You might want to consider switching if the card keeps giving you trouble.
HOW do you switch to direct deposit?? I've been stuck with this stupid card for months and HATE IT! They charge fees for everything and customer service is USELESS when there's a problem. I've asked about direct deposit twice but got nowhere
Log into your PA UC dashboard, go to "View and Maintain Account Information," then select "Payment Information" and "Modify." You'll be able to enter your bank routing and account numbers there. The change takes effect for your next payment cycle. Make sure your bank info is 100% accurate or it will cause delays.
PA Unemployment is THE WORST government agency I have EVER dealt with in my life!!!! They still owe me $4800 from 2020 and I've given up completely. Been trying for literally 5 YEARS with no resolution. The whole system is DESIGNED to make people give up on getting money they're legally entitled to. Save yourself the stress and mental health damage and just write it off as a loss. Not worth the endless hours of frustration for money you'll probably never see.
I understand the frustration, but I'd encourage you not to give up. The process I mentioned above with Form UC-46A worked for me after 4 years of trying. The key is getting out of the regular customer service loop and into the formal appeals process where they're legally required to review and respond.
Based on what I'm seeing in this thread, the OP should take these specific steps: 1. Complete Form UC-46A (Appeal) citing "administrative error - failure to process acknowledged adjustment" 2. Include copies of all documentation showing PA UC acknowledged the underpayment 3. Reference the specific regulation in the 2020 BRI handbook about correction timeframes 4. Submit via certified mail with return receipt 5. If no response in 30 days, contact your state representative's office - they have liaisons at UC who can escalate The backlog from 2020 is still being worked through, but claims with proper documentation are being resolved.
Thank you for these clear steps! I'm going to follow this exact process. One question - should I also continue trying to call them while the appeal is processing, or just wait for a response to the form?
Once you've submitted the UC-46A, the claim enters a different processing queue. Calling regular customer service likely won't help at that point as they won't have visibility into the appeals process. However, after 2-3 weeks, you can call the UC Appeals office directly at their separate number (check the PA UC website for the current appeals phone line) to confirm receipt and check status.

@casual_commenter Focus primarily on proving you were eligible at the time - that's the most important factor in the Referee's decision. Have your documentation organized and ready to reference. Speak clearly and directly answer questions. Only discuss financial hardship when specifically asked or when presenting your waiver request. Be respectful, don't interrupt, and take notes during the hearing. Good luck!

•I just got my hearing scheduled for three weeks from now. I'm gathering all my documentation. Can anyone who's been through this tell me how long the hearing usually lasts? I need to make arrangements with my current job.
