EDD SDI two-factor authentication not sending text codes - can't login to check claim
I'm at my wits end trying to login to my SDI Online account to check my disability claim status. The system says it's sending a verification code to my phone but NOTHING is coming through. I've tried requesting the code 5 times now over the past 2 days. My disability payments are supposed to start next week and I need to make sure everything is set up correctly! I double-checked my phone number in the system and it's correct. I also made sure my phone isn't blocking unknown numbers. Is the EDD system having issues with text verification? Anyone else experiencing this problem or know how to get around it? Can I call someone directly to verify my claim status instead since I can't get into the online system?

•Did you eventually get in? What did you do to fix it?

There's actually a known issue with their text verification right now. Try these steps: 1. Use the "Call me instead" option if it's available 2. Try logging in during non-peak hours (early morning or late evening) 3. Use a different browser or clear your cache/cookies 4. Check if your carrier is blocking short-code texts (call your provider) If none of those work, you'll need to contact EDD directly to verify your identity another way or reset your account settings.

•Thank you! There's no "call me" option showing up for some reason, but I'll try the other browsers. Do you know if there's a direct number to call about account access issues specifically? The main line just keeps disconnecting me.

I've been dealing with EDD for years through multiple pregnancy and medical leaves, and their verification system is THE WORST. Last time this happened to me, I found out T-Mobile was blocking their texts as potential spam. Had to call my carrier and whitelist EDD's shortcode.

•I have Verizon, but that's a good point. I'll call them today to check if they're blocking something. Thanks!

Have you tried using a friend's phone number instead? I changed mine to my husband's phone when mine wasn't receiving codes and it worked immediately. You can always change it back later.

•Please be careful with this advice - changing contact information while a claim is being processed can sometimes flag your account for review and cause delays. It's better to resolve the issue with your current phone number if possible.

Not getting text codes is frustrating! I wasted 3 days trying to fix this same issue last month when I was checking my pregnancy disability claim. After multiple attempts to reach someone at EDD (impossible!!), I used Claimyr to get through to an actual agent. Totally worth it - got connected in about 20 minutes instead of calling for days. The agent manually verified my identity and noted my account. Their video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd and their site is claimyr.com if you want to try it.

I'm dealing with the exact same problem!!! So frustrating! Did anyone's solutions actually work for you? I'm sitting here with bills piling up and can't even check if my claim is processing correctly.

•Update: I finally got in! What worked for me was using Chrome in incognito mode AND connecting through my home wifi instead of cell data. Not sure which one fixed it, but I'm finally able to see my claim status. My payments are scheduled to start next week as planned, thank goodness.

Glad you got in! For anyone else having this issue, I want to add that EDD is supposedly working on fixing these verification problems with their 2025 system update. Until then, here are the official troubleshooting steps: 1. Ensure your device has good signal/connection 2. Try a different browser (Chrome seems to work best) 3. Clear cookies and cache 4. Disable browser extensions 5. Try incognito/private browsing mode 6. If using a VPN, turn it off 7. Contact your mobile carrier to verify short codes aren't blocked If all else fails, you can request account assistance by submitting form DE 1326C, though this takes 7-10 business days to process.

•Thanks for this! The incognito mode trick worked for me too. Wish EDD would just put these steps on their website instead of making us figure it out ourselves.

I had this exact same issue a few weeks ago and it was driving me crazy! What finally worked for me was switching to a different device entirely. I kept trying on my iPhone with no luck, but when I borrowed my roommate's Android phone, the codes came through immediately. Apparently there's some weird compatibility issue between EDD's system and certain iOS versions. Also, make sure you're not requesting codes too frequently - I found out they temporarily block your number if you request too many in a short time period. Wait at least 10-15 minutes between attempts. Hope this helps!

•That's really helpful to know about the iOS compatibility issue! I never would have thought to try a different device. Do you happen to know which iOS versions are having problems? I'm on iOS 17 and wondering if that's part of my issue. Also good tip about waiting between attempts - I definitely was spamming the request button out of frustration which probably made things worse.

I'm going through this nightmare right now too! Been trying to get into my SDI account for 4 days straight with zero success on the text codes. What's really frustrating is that I can see other people are getting through sometimes, so it's clearly not a complete system outage. I tried calling EDD yesterday and was on hold for 3 hours before getting disconnected. At this point I'm wondering if I should just drive to a local office in person, but I'm not even sure they can help with online account issues. Has anyone tried going in person for verification problems like this?

•I feel your pain! I actually tried going to a local office last year for a similar issue and unfortunately they told me that online account problems have to be resolved through their tech support line - the in-person staff can't access or reset your online login credentials. However, if you're just trying to check your claim status and payments, they might be able to look that up for you in person even if they can't fix the login issue. It's worth a shot if you have time, but definitely call ahead to see if they're taking walk-ins. The wait times at the offices can be just as brutal as the phone lines though.

This is such a common issue and it's really frustrating that EDD hasn't fixed their 2FA system properly! I went through the same thing about 6 months ago when I needed to access my disability claim. What ultimately worked for me was a combination of things: I switched from using Safari to Firefox, made sure I was on WiFi instead of cellular data, and most importantly - I found out my phone carrier (AT&T) was automatically filtering the EDD texts as spam even though I had spam filtering turned off in my settings. I had to call AT&T and specifically ask them to whitelist shortcode 95877 which is what EDD uses for verification texts. After that, the codes started coming through within seconds. Also, try requesting the code and then immediately putting your phone in airplane mode for 30 seconds, then turning it back on - sometimes this forces the message to come through. The whole system is a mess but hopefully one of these tricks helps!

•Thank you so much for the detailed info about AT&T filtering! I'm also on AT&T and never thought to check if they were blocking the shortcode specifically. I'll definitely call them about whitelisting 95877. The airplane mode trick is interesting too - I've heard similar things work for other verification issues. It's crazy that we have to become tech experts just to access basic government services! Really appreciate you sharing what worked for you.
