SDI Certification Error: Can't Complete Online or Phone, Need Help Contacting EDD
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble certifying my weeks for disability insurance. I've tried both online and through the automated phone system, but I keep running into issues. I can't remember the exact error message, but it's preventing me from getting my benefits. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to a real person at EDD? I'm getting desperate here.

Random thought: what if we all agreed on a specific time to NOT call EDD? Like a reverse DDoS attack. Give the system a breather 😅

•Lmao that might actually work. EDD would be so confused 😂

•Watch them schedule maintenance for exactly that time 🙄

have u tried turning it off and on again? 🤣 jk jk. but seriously, sometimes clearing your browser cache or using a different device can help with the online system. worth a shot!

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going back to work? There are plenty of jobs out there...

•Dude, it's DISABILITY insurance. I can't work right now even if I wanted to. 🤦♂️

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through. Also, keep hitting 0 or # during the automated messages, sometimes that'll get you to a human faster.

•I've tried that but no luck. It's like playing the lottery trying to get through to someone 😫

•Hitting 0 or # doesn't work anymore. They caught on and now it just disconnects you. Ask me how I know 🙃

•I heard that using a landline instead of a mobile phone might increase your chances of getting through. Might be worth a try!

•Honestly? Pure luck. But I called every single day, multiple times. It's a numbers game.

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to certify for 3 weeks now. This whole system is a joke. We need to organize and demand better from our government!

•Preach! 🙌 Maybe we should start a petition or something?

•That's not a bad idea. Anyone know how to get that started? We could use social media to spread the word.

•A petition could bring attention to the issue. Creating a community group on platforms like Facebook or Reddit might help organize efforts.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the exact error message next time. 2. Try certifying at odd hours, like 3 AM. Sometimes the system is less busy. 3. If online doesn't work, keep trying the phone. Be persistent. 4. Reach out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene. 5. Check your claim status online to make sure there are no pending issues. 6. If all else fails, consider going to an EDD office in person if possible. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing!

•Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try certifying at odd hours and contacting my assembly member. You're a lifesaver 🙏

•This is great advice. I'd add: make sure your mailing address is up to date. Sometimes they send important notices by mail.

•Also, consider reaching out to local advocacy groups. They might offer additional support and resources.

I heard a rumor that they're updating the system soon. Anyone know if thats true or just wishful thinking?

•My cousin works for the state (not EDD) and she said there's always talk about updates, but it never seems to happen. Bureaucracy at its finest 🙄

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yep, 100% legit. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😡

•I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was worth it.

•While Claimyr seems helpful, it's also important to acknowledge that not everyone can afford the extra cost. Hopefully, EDD will improve its systems soon.

Plot twist: the EDD is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels. That's why everything's so slow 🐹🐹🐹

Hey OP, it sounds like a real struggle. I recommend trying the Claimyr service mentioned above. It seems to have helped others, but remember it's a paid service and may not be feasible for everyone. Keep track of all your attempts to contact EDD, as documentation could be critical if your case needs to be escalated. Additionally, reaching out to local representatives and support networks could provide the extra push needed to resolve your issue. Stay persistent and try to certify during off-peak hours. Good luck, and remember, this community is here to support you through this.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point 😤

•It seems like they pick the worst times. Maybe they need to upgrade their system so maintenance isn't as disruptive.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a nightmare. I've been trying to certify for weeks now and keep getting kicked out. It's like they don't want us to get our benefits 🙄

ATTENTION EVERYONE: If you're having trouble with your claim, document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, save screenshots of errors, write down names of reps you talk to. It might help if you need to appeal later.

Guys, I'm an IT professional and I gotta say, the EDD system is probably running on some ancient tech. No wonder it can't handle the volume. They need a complete overhaul.

•As someone who used to work in gov't IT, you're not far off. The systems are often decades old.

•Exactly. It's a miracle it works at all, tbh. But that's no excuse for the poor service.

Has anyone tried faxing their certification? I know it sounds old school, but I heard it can sometimes work when the online system is down.

•I've heard faxing can be a backup. Definitely worth considering if you're out of options.
