Need help reaching EDD Disability rep - stuck in automated system hell!

Hey everyone, I need to talk to someone at EDD Disability. Anyone have any tips on how to get through to a real person? I've been trying for days and keep getting stuck in their automated system. It's driving me crazy!

Ugh, I feel your pain! I was in the same boat last month. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to anyone. Have you tried calling right when they open? That worked for me once, but it's still a gamble.

Calling when they open is hit or miss. I've had better luck calling around 3pm, seems like less traffic then.

Thanks for the tips! I'll give both a shot and see if I can finally get through.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth it for me. Saved me a ton of time and stress.

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to do anything. The service called me when an agent was on the line.

Pro tip: use the online portal to request a callback. It's not perfect, but I've had better luck with that than calling endlessly.

Have you tried contacting your local assembly member's office? They can sometimes help push things through faster with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck!

I hadn't thought of that! Do you just look up your local assembly member and give their office a call?

Yep, exactly! Google your address + 'assembly member' and you should find their contact info. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with state agency issues.

The whole system is a joke 🤡 I've been trying to get my claim sorted for MONTHS. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it.

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're purposely making it difficult. We pay into this system, why is it so hard to use when we need it?

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 8:00 AM when they open 2. If you get the 'too many callers' message, hang up and redial immediately 3. Keep doing this until you get into the queue 4. Once in the queue, DO NOT HANG UP no matter how long the wait 5. Have all your info ready when you finally get through It took me about 20 attempts over 3 days, but I finally got through. Stay persistent!

Wow, thanks for the detailed strategy! I'll definitely give this a try. Fingers crossed it works for me too!

This is solid advice. I'd add: use a phone with a good speaker so you can multitask while on hold. And maybe have a backup battery/charger handy!

Anyone else notice that the hold music is like psychological warfare? I swear I hear it in my nightmares now 😅
